President Weah supports the defense and protection of the rights of women and girls in Liberia.
President Weah said women and girls are indispensable parts in the social and economic advancement of any nation, and that no country can boast of sustainable development when women are left to languish behind their male counterparts.
Officially launching First Lady Clar Weah’s flagship ‘She’s You’ movement June 20 at the Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia, the Liberian leader stressed the importance of the initiative in giving women and girls a strong voice and a safe place in society.
The ‘She’s You’ movement is the First Lady’s strategic way of addressing the growing unfortunate plights women and girls are faced with in Liberia.
President Weah said it is impossible for any nation to enjoy successful and sustained development amid unbridled violence and abuse against women and girls. He said his government considers the welfare of women and girls as a national priority and that conditions facing them are being addressed deliberately and forcefully by his administration. “The objectives of this program are complimentary to what the government is already doing to address the issues affecting women and girls,” said the Feminist-in-Chief. “The involvement of women, girls and other marginalized groups in all sectors can contribute significantly to the sustainable development, economic growth, social transformation and political stability in Liberia.” He noted that development cannot succeed or be sustained if violence against women is imbedded in the social fabrics of society.

President George Manneh Weah who is in Dakar, Senegal on an official invitation to attend that country’s independence anniversary and the inauguration of its re-elected President, has been holding mutually beneficial business meetings with a couple of his counterparts.
In separate meetings with his African colleagues and officials from other countries, President Weah has been marketing his Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and development, pushing for improved diplomatic ties and discussing direct foreign investments.
In just few hours upon arrival in the Senegalese capital of Dakar, the Liberian Leader was in a meeting with His Excellency Alpha Conde’, President of the Republic of Guinea at which time both leaders not only discussed improving diplomatic relations and trade between their two countries, but also possible Iron Ore deal where Guinea will transport ores using Liberian ports.
The deal entails Guinea exporting iron ore using railways running through Nimba and Grand Bassa counties, something that owes much potential for revenue generation as well as employment for countless Liberians.
Both Leaders and delegations were joined in the meeting at the King Fahd Palace by former French President Nicholas Zarkozy, who praised the two presidents for maintaining peace and stability in their respective countries and expressed interest in the mining sector in Liberia and Guinea.
President Weah later on Monday, April 1, 2019 hosted Sahle-Work Zewde, President of Ethiopia. The two leaders stressed the need for improved diplomatic relations.
President Weah used the meeting with President Zewde to accentuate his sympathy to the government and people of Ethiopia for the death of 157 people who died in a plane crashed last month...
President Weah Markets Liberia’s Agriculture and Transport Potentials to UAE Investors
United Arab Emirates - Barely hours after securing huge commitments from his hosts to invest in Liberia’s energy, road, health and education sectors, President George Manneh Weah on the second day of his state visit to the United Arab Emirates successfully pushed the case of his country’s agriculture and transport sectors which he said are critical to pulling his people out of poverty. “Liberia has a very rich soil, which is further patronized by six months of rain, six months of sunshine absolutely favorite for anything to grow,” Weah hypnotized a group of agriculture investors, including the Elite Agro Group which has farms and other agriculture projects in Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Senegal and Mauritania. “You would be stunned to note that with the fertile land and favorable climate, my country is still importing almost everything edible, thus rendering the country dependent on others for food.” The President’s meeting on Wednesday followed a series of prior engagements which the President and delegation had made with the UAE hosts who have accorded them incredible reception since their arrival there this week.
On the first day of interaction, the President secured from his counterparts strong commitments to invest in the country, setting up a technical team to visit Liberia next month to explore immediate avenues for serious investments in the areas of roads, energy, health and education.
Then on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 H. E. Dr. George Manneh Weah held fruitful discussions with Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Agriculture and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elite Agro Group.
There were positive responses from the hosts. In his presentations, the Minister and Elite Group CEO, Ahmed Al Zeyoudi told President Weah and delegation that Liberia could soon begin feeding other nations if #UAE concessionaries are given the opportunities to invest in the Country.
Mr. Zeyoudi bragged that #UAE’s investment successes recorded in other African countries, including #Egypt, #Morocco, #Ethiopia and #Senegal constitute enough reasons for a win-win partnership in #Liberia.
