The horsehair worm is one terrifying creature. As larvae, they inhabit arthropods such as insects, arachnids and crustaceans. Inside, these parasites grow to up to 10 cm and start to control the host's brain. Sine horsehair worms are actually freshwater creatures, and will trick the hosts into drowning themselves, returning the invertebrates back to the water.
