First training in Kinshasa!  Sleep deprived and cracked out, but still made it to the gym 😄. Most gyms in the area are very light on weights, so I took advantage of having just enough plates and did deadlifts. They were surprisingly good, all things considered👌🏻. This adventure is only beginning and it’s already amazing. So glad to be here with the @fullpatate team! .

Peeled my seemingly thousand pound body up off the couch because the sun finally came out and the little man NEEDED to get outside (I honestly ordered him to run the steps earlier because his energy level was OUT. OF. CONTROL!🤦‍♀️) Going on this little walk/bike ride followed by a little ball practice and yard clean up was the best thing we could have done for ALL us!

Sometimes our body needs rest, and sometimes it needs to be forced to get up and get some fresh air to get the mind and body straightened out again 💞

Hope everyone stayed safe through Mother Nature's own little temper tantrum this morning!

I swear y’all I look stronger than I am 👻 7 days out from the @norsefitnessconcord push/pull and I’m still at the gym at 10pm so no one can ever say I didn’t put the fucking work in at least. As usual @norse_fitness with those perfect shorts (just figured out my phone fits perfectly in the pocket) and sleeves keeping my elbows happy and warm. Now time to go home and eat and soak and hope I’m strong next weekend 🙃🙃

My glute workout today, powered by...food. I'm not sponsored by supplement companies, which is why you don't see me shaking up concoctions of pastel-colored liquids & performing slow motion reels of me taking swigs of said pastel-colored liquids. I simply ate 1/2 cup oat bran, 1 dark plum, 4 oz of ground turkey about 45 minutes before I left for the gym.

💜 I've finally reached a point where my workouts feel therapeutic. I've said this before. My intrinsic gym motivation began dwindling the year I narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympia...by just 1 point. 😠 Suddenly, everything became about placings, about keeping up with the Jones's in my division, altering my workouts to shape my body to meet criteria, standards. There's nothing wrong with that if you're an extrinsically-motivated person. But I'm not.

💜 Reading Daniel Pink's Drive turned on a lightbulb. It clarified why my motivation & love for the gym, love for competing, dwindled down so much that I barely had even a spark of desire left in me. Chasing goals for external reasons just doesn't do it for me. The book, Drive, discusses why, which drove my introspection & led to me say, "I'm tired of the rat race I've allowed WPD to become for me." The next time I step on stage, I want it to be 100% because I want to for the sake of pleasing me...no matter whether I fit the criteria, trend, or standard at that point in time.

💜 Look, my butt will always be bigger than my back. Though my measurements are perfectly equal, I have very narrow hips with a huge 🍑. That'll never change. Someone pretty well known in the industry told me, "Stop training glutes for a year." My jaw dropped. I said, "Hell no!" I'm not going to shape my body just so it can look good for a few moments a year on stage. I shape my body for me. I lost sight of that these last two years...meaning that my rationale for my gym work was to earn a better placing. I needed something to shake me up, to remind me that my gym work is for me. Reading Drive reminded the importance of my intrinsic "why." It is my ultimate driving force.

These girls were so fun to compete with, and we all absolutely crushed it. The atmosphere of this meet was so amazing!
Friday night, the ceremonies were held... was super cool! There were Olympians, a torch lighting, raffles, and to end the night the Montana Mile.
And today! Was soooooo much fun!  I met @kaitcox00 bright and early in the morning. We were trying to figure out where to go and someone told us that the events were different than what we though... (long jump, 200, javelin, discus, 1500)!! And bro... I both freaked!! Then I talked myself into it.. went over to long jump and we all started the competition which was made amazing by the positivity of everyone! Like I said, the environment of the @bigskygames was incredible!

Tomorrow I have pole vault and am sooi excited! Wish all of us luck 💗

Love this!! Last week an old man at the gym asked me "in the last year how much weight have you lost?" I told him I don't weigh my self, haven't in a few years. He didn't like that answer 😂, thought I was lying. I know I've lost some weight, but I don't care how much. I think it's great that I am comfortably in a size I was never able to squeeze into before. That size may go down, it may stay the same for a while 🤷. I will say though, I see big difference in my mood if I miss a few days, but I just jump back in feeling stronger than before. Sissy squats are back after a brief hiatus and combined with leg extension, they are an awesome combo for quads. Hit legs twice already this week so took it relatively easy today. Tried to slow down the moves as much as possible and control the movement. Here’s the workout: •

Our first summit of the year. Schedules and snow melt was finally on our side and we got up to James Peak today! 
Elevation: 13,300feet
Total Trip: 8.4 miles, 6.5 hours
2,963 elevation gain.
It was a gorgeous day but remember safety first! We started the hike at 5:45am to get off the peak before possible thunderstorms and passed numerous people making their way up. By the time we were towards the bottom, the hail and thunder had started. *

Today was a roller coaster of emotions...it marks 10 years since my dad has passed and I’m also 5 weeks out from my first show.  During this prep, more than ever, he’s been on my mind and I can hear his voice calling me his “He-Man daughter” and telling me how proud he is of me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made! I had one of those “I don’t feel like it” moments today prior to my planned workout.  I was tired, it was hot, I had 1 too many glasses of wine last night.  Now don’t get me wrong - there are days when “not feeling like it” is a sign that you need to rest but for me that was not the case- at least not today, so I put on my sports bra and shorts, carried my iPad out to my too hot garage gym and got it done and boy am I glad I did it.  #getitdone #womenwholift #evenwhenidontfeellikeit #45yearsfit

Woke Fitness Models is a community and even a family where fitness models across the industry can learn what it is to be a model, form likeminded friendships and gain some social media exposure and possibly even attract sponsors or photoshoots.
In the fitness game it is very difficult to make genuine friends, it is very difficult to feel encouraged and I personally feel it is most difficult to accept yourself and what stage you’re currently in with your physique or fitness or training in general. We are so critical and harsh on ourselves to be perfect when we should instead be striving for happiness and health because that is where perfection lies. This is what will encourage Woke Fitness Models to progress slower but more steadily and sustainably allowing you to look like your photos at any given day which will make you the better pick to attend castings or even do short notice shoots.
Woke Fitness Models is all about being a safe, happy and guilt free environment; we’ve all tried being critical on ourselves, how about we try loving and accepting ourselves with everything that comes with it regardless of how many flaws you think you have or if don’t look like that person you idolize. "Wherever you go in the end you will always find your way home" - words said to me by my mom ever since I was little.

Her saying holds so much truth literally but also in a much more deeper sense of meaning.
___________________________________________

My parents' home has always had the door open to my siblings and I. A long day at work can easily be forgotten when we enter our home and the warm smell of my mother’s cooking hits me right away. 
___________________________________________

But I have also come home from situations and hardships that I have prayed to never happen to me ever again.
___________________________________________

That is when I realized her saying meant more than just having a place to eat, hang out or sleep - but that our home is and has always been a sanctuary for me. 
___________________________________________

Most of our lives we have fought our parents' ways - yet they are the first people to open their door for us when we needed shelter from the harsh realities of this world. 
___________________________________________

We fail to also see that our parents are not just parents. Have you ever thought that maybe they are people, too ? Meaning that they have their own friends, their own personal interests, favorite shows and etc? Sometimes we need to peel off this veil and look at our parents in a different light and humanize them a bit more. 
___________________________________________

We can no longer take them for granted. Our parents have done so much for us yet we fail to realize that they won’t be around forever. We need to pray for their good health and pray that Allah continues to bless them.
___________________________________________

🔥 WARM UP 🔥 
i did a 20 minute moderate incline walk (my body loves walking now that i’m #23weekspregnant )
1️⃣ 10 reverse slider lunges each leg
2️⃣ 12 kettle bell shoulder presses each arm
3️⃣ 10 squats to dumbbell raises
4️⃣ 10 front raises to burpee *this is the pregnancy modified version 😂 or at least this is what felt comfortable for me!* if you are NOT pregnant and can jump down to a burpee and push up you should be adding that in! 
5️⃣ 5 dumbbell rows into 5 tricep kickbacks
6️⃣ 12 resistance band upright rows
🔁 i did each exercise TWICE before moving to the next. add more sets if you’d like 🥰
i also ended with another 10 minute walk!

this workout was a lot more moderate than i usually do, but this is what felt best for my body today! i wanted to activate all my muscle groups just a little bit. 🤪💪🏽
