I’ve been fighting that my #PMDD journey might be part of my life purpose. This last cycle (though not too bad) felt horrible at the time. It was a turning point which I decided this was it - I will heal my PMDD. I have months where I’m almost PMDD free but I always drop the ball. Phentermine is a medication sometimes prescribed to induce weight loss.
It belongs to a class of medications defined as “anorexiant, CNS timulant and Sympathomimetic”

Further it’s mechanism of action is defined:

Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine with pharmacologic properties similar to the AMPHETAMINES. The mechanism of action in reducing appetite appears to be secondary to CNS effects, including stimulation of the hypothalamus to release norepinephrine.”

I had a woman come into my office and ask for phentermine. Without giving away too many details she was between 25-35 with a BMI of approximately 29.
.
I flat out told her “I don’t write for that. It’s against my personal and professional beliefs”.
.
I then told her she could continue the appointment and we could discuss nutrition and lifestyle modifications or she could be reimbursed for her visit.
.
At this time she told me “I’ve tried everything, I just want to lose 10 more pounds….135...I’ll BE HAPPY THEN.”
.
I paused. Almost dramatically.
.
I then spoke in what I made sure what the most empathic voice and body posture possible and stated “With all do respect, it will always be the next thing. With weight and food, it is never JUST about the food or the weight”.
.
She then told me that “everything tells me I’m overweight” (for reference even though the BMI is most of the time a shitty tool she was even “healthy” by those means).
.
I proceeded to tell her that health is a continuum in sizes and what we see on the outside is not always a reflection of our true inner health. I explained that the health of her menstrual period, glucose control, ability to get a good nights sleep, nutrient levels, kidney and liver function, etc are FAR better indicators of her true health.

She wasn’t interested. She requested a provider that would “write for that”.

I wasn’t offended. I wasn’t put off.
.
I was proud. I did the right thing for her whether she realizes it or not.

It wasn’t about health at all for her. She’s chasing a number because she believes it will bring happiness and satisfaction. .

While it's convenient and hormone-free, it has high failure rates when compared to hormonal #contraceptives or copper #IUDs. Guuuurl, this one I STILL have to be conscious of on a literal daily basis.🙈⁣

❌RUSHING❌⁣

This can play out in a couple of ways...⁣

👉🏽Do you constantly feel like you’re in a hurry? ⁣

When you’re constantly rushing around— running errands, make appointments on time while trying to squeeze everything into an unrealistic time span...you keep your sympathetic nervous system STUCK in fight or flight. When we do this, it starts to affect our HPA axis (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal) ⁣

The HPA axis relies on a series of hormonal signals to keep the fight or flight reaction in full effect. ⁣

When your body is stuck in high alert 🚨 the rest of your body systems (digestion, sleeping, and normal bodily functions) shut down...creating a TON of not so fun symptoms. ⁣

We also tend to pre-worry about being late! This was a major problem for me. ⁣

I learned that if everything didn’t get done today, I wasn’t any less of a person and it could always be done another day! 💁🏻‍♀️⁣

Woosah friends, it’s NOT worth keeping your body in such a stressed state. ⁣

👉🏽Do you constantly question, “When am I going to be healed already?” 🙇🏻‍♀️⁣

Rushing the healing process only perpetuates illness! Trust you me, 🙋🏻‍♀️ I was oh SO guilty of this. ⁣

Truth is, the healing journey is long...and there isn’t an exact ‘place’ to get to. We never “arrive”, we are ALWAYS traveling, reclaiming new parts of ourselves and releasing others. 🚶‍♀️⁣

It’s time to call forth your inner-self healer and ask the judgement to be quiet. 🤫 ⁣

Simply said—Don’t be so hard on yourself.🤍⁣

You are a living breathing miracle. ✨⁣

You have overcome great struggle, you have survived, you are here. ⁣

You are evolving. 🦋⁣

September is the most popular birth month in 🇦🇺#, according to research from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It confirms what many of us perhaps suspected; that the cheer of Christmas and New Year is also a fertile time for our country. They are the most popular conception dates.

The ABS analysis of births from 2007-2016 reveals that, of the four most common birthdays, three are in September (Sep 17, 23 and 24, which tied with Oct 1). As a rough measure, if you count back 38 weeks, we arrive at the Christmas holidays – Australia’s most popular period for making babies.

“These trends are similar in New Zealand, England and Wales, and the United States,” Beidar Cho, the ABS Director of Demography, said.
“More babies are likely to be conceived around the Christmas/New Year holidays, resulting in more babies born in September and October. Fewer babies are born on public holidays – possibly a result of doctors scheduling deliveries on non-public holidays.”
The least common birthdays are Christmas Day and February 29, which only occurs in leap years.

If we’re to believe the data, and we’ve no reason not to, then it would be safe to say that the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period is also a prolific time for unplanned pregnancies. Amidst the food and wine and fireworks, women fall pregnant and find themselves staring at a pregnancy test in February or March, at two lines and a year already thrown off kilter.

On yesterday’s Gut Rehab Blueprint call one of my students said she was feeling a little stressed about navigating the holidays, and I said alright let’s break it down and make a game plan. First, how many holiday dinners are you actually going to be attending?⁣

The big, crazy, scary, overwhelming number?⁣

There’s so much holiday hype, and in our heads we paint this picture of a non-stop buffet of heavy, rich food...but in reality, you’re probably going to having just a few dinners. 3 dinners will not ruin you!⁣

Ok, but HOW do you navigate those 3 dinners? ⁣

Can you bring a dish or two that work for you that you can share with everyone? Yes (and I encourage that), but what about when your mom has a recipe she always makes that just can’t be replicated with cauliflower, almonds, and chia seeds 🤪?⁣

QUALITY. Don’t change the whole recipe or try to make wild swaps. Use the same recipe, but level up when it comes to the quality of ingredients. ⁣

Kraft cheese → Organic, grass-fed cheese⁣
Flour → Sprouted flour ⁣
Regular stuffing → Sourdough stuffing⁣
Swanson broth → Kettle & Fire broth⁣
Prego pasta sauce → Rao’s pasta sauce⁣

I remember growing up as a child there was a mom that always ran in our neighborhood with a jogger and it seriously looked hard. For some reason that image stuck with me as I always felt running should be solo and a jogger is just asking for issues.
Little did I know I would develop such a love for pushing my children and bringing them along for an adventure.

When I ran throughout my pregnancy with my first I knew this wasn’t the end of it and wanted to continue on the bond we developed inside the womb and bring it outside to the real world. From there, it was a special kind of love we had for the miles we accounted for. In my two and half years of running with the stroller, I have made more memories with them, showed them a stronger and resilient Mommy, and most importantly, love and happiness! Whatever you do to make a difference with your children, just know that it’s never time wasted!

If you were to ask me that exact same question within my first year of marriage I would have probably said ‘not a chance’. To be honest, I never dreamed I would be the stroller running Mom I am today. I love how during an hour run with a girlfriend we can cover SO many different topics.
One thing girls and women need to talk to one another about more is our periods! I don’t understand why this seems to be such a taboo subject, but since it’s not a normal part of conversations, women tend to feel embarrassed about it and don’t feel comfortable asking questions.
Girls and women: you should NOT be skipping periods even when training hard. If you do, it means your output is not matched with your intake and it’s throwing your hormones out of balance. This causes decreased bone density which leads to stress fractures and even osteoporosis.
If aren’t getting a regular period or have concerns, you should always seek advice from a doctor or a dietitian who can take a look at your diet and exercise routine and see where things might not be matching up.
I like to recommend talking to your girlfriends on a run because you don’t have to make eye contact! Chances are your friend is wanting to broach the subject too and just needed someone to bring it up.
Talk about your period, talk to a dietitian, talk to your friends, talk to your coach.

Panquecas de batata doce e banana:
▪️150g batata doce cozida/assada
▪️100g banana
▪️2 ovos
▪️Aroma de baunilha q.b. (opcional)
▪️1 c. chá fermento
▪️👩🏼: canela / 👩🏾: cacau magro em pó q.b.

É só esmagar a banana e a batata doce, adicionar os restantes ingredientes, misturar bem e fazer as panquecas.
