TOP 5 TRAINING MISTAKES -

Time and time again I get new clients who are looking for the latest and greatest programming to help them reach the next level. Upon review of their individual characteristics, training history, and goals I usually find that they are making one of these mistakes (in no particular order)  1. Overly Complicated Program :  This is all to common as people assume that fancy training styles equates to better training. In reality they may be missing the forest for the trees so to speak... Simple programs can be very effective! 
2. Too Many Goals at Once :
Many times people have a laundry list of goals. Lose fat, gain muscle, competing, martial arts, complete a triathlon....all at once. While it's great to be ambitious, you have to be smart about the amount and type of goals you pursue! 
3. Training is Too Hard/Easy :
More often than not, people are simply running themselves into the ground with their training. Training hard is great but it has to be smart training first and foremost. And going in and walking on the treadmill everyday Isn't going to get the job done in most cases.  4. Neglecting Your Recovery :
 Along the same vein, overlooking your recovery is a big no-no. The best training program in the world means nothing if you aren't sleeping, taking enough rest days, and fueling yourself properly For those who compete, you may need to go beyond these basics as well. 
5. Staying in Your Comfort Zone :
Although it can feel good to use movements you're familiar with, this can lead to imbalances over time. Squats, deads, and bench are great but you need to branch out and take care of your accessory movement sometimes. Don't get stuck in a rut out of a sheer hardheadedness !

Ingredients: 
450g/1 lb 3 cups minced non-meat beef balls 
1 tsp fresh root ginger,finely grated 
4 spring onions (scallions) finely chopped 
50ml/1 ¾ fl oz ¼ cup shaoxing rice wine 
1 tbsp linseed oil 
3 vegan eggs 
1 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)
100 g/3 ½ oz /1 cup spinach 
2 tbsp olive oil
30 g/1 oz/ ¼ cup cashews nuts
1 large red chilli, sliced 
400 g/14 fl oz/ 2 cups canned pineapple chunks in juice

Meatball noodles with or without pineapple:
Ingredients:
450g/1 lb 3 cups minced non-meat beef balls

1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cane sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cans (400 ml) full fat coconut milk, refrigerated for at least 24 hours
3–4 tablespoons organic powdered sugar (optional)
1/4 cup toasted coconut for topping (optional)
instructions
Make the cupcakes

Pre-heat oven to 350F and grease a 12-cup muffin pan (or use cupcake liners).
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, coconut, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Add the fresh pineapple to a blender and pulse a few times until it is puréed. Add the pineapple to a small bowl, along with the milk, oil and vanilla. Whisk together and then add to the dry ingredients, stirring until combined.
Divide the batter into the prepared cupcake pan. Each cup should be about two-thirds full. Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted into the middle of a cupcake comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frost the cupcakes

Scoop out the solidified coconut milk (discard or reserve the coconut water for another use) and add to a deep mixing bowl.
Using an electric mixer, beat the coconut milk on high until it is fully whipped and creamy. This may take a few minutes. For a sweetened coconut whip, add in 3-4 tablespoons of powdered sugar and beat until incorporated
Add the coconut whip to a piping bag and pipe onto cupcakes, or spread on with a knife. Top with toasted coconut, or other desired toppings.
Store cupcakes in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy within 3-4 days.

If the coconut whip is too soft to pipe onto the cupcakes, just place in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to set up.

3/4 cup almond milk
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp veg oil
half lemon, juiced and zested
1/2 cup non dairy yoghurt (I used @nushfoods almond yoghurt)

Dry
.
2 cups all purpose gluten free flour
1/4 tsp xanthan gum
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup blueberries
.
Preheat oven to 180•c and line a loaf tin. Mix all wet ingredients together in a bowl until smooth. In a another bowl, add all dry ingredients apart from blueberries. Stir to combine, then add to the wet ingredients and mix to form a smooth batter. Fold through 3/4 cup blueberries, saving the rest. Fill loaf tin with batter and sprinkle blueberries on top. Bake for 60 mins, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing.
