🦜 knows - these headlines are constant. So constant that we’ve become desensitized to them. But let’s feel these numbers for a moment, okay? (As if your Sunday scaries weren’t bad enough. Unfortunately for you, I read #untetheredsoul last month (parenthesis inception: like any good millennial) and so there’s no running away from the scary stats today😈). .

Understanding the underlying factors behind *why* someone is chronically ill is just as important as diagnosing the illness itself. A doctor can put someone with high cholesterol on a Statin, or even recommend a vegan diet (and pat themselves on the back for that one!), all while proclaiming that this will surely bring her LDL down! Isn’t that wonderful! .

But if that patient has a hormonal imbalance like PCOS, her endocrine system will make it difficult for band-aid fixes to work on these more identifiable health risks. They’ll just keep coming back. .

#PCOSAwarenessMonth is halfway through, and you’re likely all aware by now: 10% of women of reproductive age have PCOS, and this hormonal imbalance can leave us predisposed to serious health issues like diabetes, various types of cancers, and heart disease.

We’ve been low-grade panicking out about diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular health for a while. These statistics are scary, but known. They’re accepted. We haven’t been treating hormonal imbalances with the same gravity - but it’s time that we start, because proper management of hormonal health is crucial to reducing incidence of “more serious” chronic health conditions down the line. .

Some turn to meditation as a way to stop getting caught up in reactivity, especially when it causes so much pain in ourselves and in others. Of course we would all love to be non-reactive, the perfect peaceful Buddha that never reacts. But this is an unrealistic expectation that we place on ourselves as open, vulnerable human beings with sensitive nervous systems. In reality we are going to get triggered by something someone says or does or perhaps by something we see in the news. This doesn’t mean that there is something wrong occurring or that there is something wrong with us. Our triggers are really just old pain in us that wants to be met. When grief, anger, frustration, irritation or fear appear our job isn’t to try to “control” this triggered material in us. As much as we wish we could, that is not where our power lies. Our power lies in our ability to slow down so that we can be with the triggered material, stay with it, become curious about it and make room for it. This allows us to find that middle place between repressing on the one hand and automatically and habitually acting it out on the other. Of course, we don’t want to dump our triggers on the world through our usual methods of getting out of discomfort -shaming or blaming or exploding in rage- so we practice staying with the uncomfortable material, becoming intimate with it without fusing with it. For many years I desperately tried to get myself in a non-reactive state. I practiced with that goal in mind. And when I found myself still getting triggered, my mind would begin telling me, “Well you aren’t there yet. There is something wrong with you. You still haven’t arrived. You are far from enlightened. If you were then this material wouldn’t still be coming up.” But now I know that my job isn’t to suppress these visitors and instead it’s to dive into them with curiosity and love so that I can find that middle place. From here I am no longer unconsciously vomiting on others and whatever action I decide to take, or not take comes from a place of being fully connected with myself. This allows the old pain within me to be seen, held and met so that it can move through me without getting stuck.

As social beings, there is some sort of interaction, negotiation or relationship to be navigated nearly every day. We have a choice whether the outcome will be positive or negative. More oftentimes than not, we react from a place of unconscious conditioning, as unresolved issues from our past (or even from past generations) trigger our response. Without thinking, we react negatively or defensively with unconsidered consequences. .
Every time we leave the house, we are sending out energetic vibrations to others via our emotions and thoughts. We can react from a place of fear, or we can respond to the situation from a point of compassion, patience and understanding. .

If we honour a practice of taking time throughout the day to sit quietly for a few minutes and come back to a mindful place of our grounded-selves, this is the sort of self-care that will maintain our state of equilibrium and bring us to a greater place of awareness of ourselves, situations and surroundings. This is how we develop our emotional intelligence and keep the vibrations high. .

An excellent book to bring positive energy back into life and get rid of negative suffering. "you fear death because you crave life. you fear death because you think there's something that you haven't experienced yet. Many people feel that death will take something away from them. The wise person realizes that death is constantly giving them something. Death is giving meaning to your life. Your'e the one who throws your life away; you waste every second of it. You get in your car, drive from here to there, and you don't see anything. you're not even there. You're busy thinking about what you're going to do nect. You're a month ahead of yourself, or even a year. You're not living life; you're living mind. So it is you who throws your life way, not death. Death actually helps you to get your life back by making you pay attention to the moment. Is makes you say "My God, I'm going to lose this, I'm going to lose my children. This could be the last time I'll see them. From now on I'm going to pay more attention to them and to my spouse, and to all my friends and loved ones. I want to get so much more out of life!

If you are living every experience fully, then death does'nt take anything from you. There's nothing to take because you're already fullfilled. That's why the wise being is always ready to die. A beautiful transformation | If I was in a relationship, today would be the day I’d say “happy anniversary baby”. Oh wait a minute. I have been in a relationship this whole time – with myself. So here it goes: happy anniversary baby 💕

I’ve come to appreciate the #unexpectedjoyofbeingsingle, having your own space to live in, come and go as you please, walk around naked all day if you feel like it, bin the dining table and make space for #yoga and #meditation, paint your walls dark blue or pink or green, it’s your choice! Live unconventionally, go travelling, do whatever the heck you want to do.
The freedom and independence of not being in a relationship with someone else is undeniable. But the real beauty lies in the fact that you actually have time to get to know yourself. Find out who you really are, what you really want from this life, hone in on your #dreams and discover your #purpose.
This past year has been truly transformational and it is only the beginning of my journey with so many exciting things written in the stars for the year ahead. I am so so grateful for my family and friends’ support and the universal guidance received through all the teachers who have crossed my path so far, the ones in plain sight and the unexpected ones. 🙏🏻❤️

We as human beings have energy. How it is created, collected, stored or otherwise... is a mystery to most. As I sit in #meditation this morning, I am reminded that it is my responsibility to release this energy in loving ways. Loving to myself and those around me. No one else can do this for me. So rather than walking around like a tornado — I get to speak up for what I need and make time and space.
So— how are you making time and space for yourself? What helps you to release stagnant energy? Do you even recognize it’s presence within your body? And are you aware that you are worthy of this loving exercise? .

Fearlessness is not the absence of fear and is not found by eradicating fear. Fearlessness is found when we begin to step off of the battlefield with fear and let go of the conclusions that we draw about ourselves as a person when fear arrives. When we begin to touch into our moment by moment experience of fear with our warmth and curiosity we are able to prove to our nervous system that we are bigger than our fear and that there is enough room in this vessel to hold the full spectrum of human experience. We begin to replace the old fight or flight circuitry with new wiring that doesn’t require self abandonment and instead enables us to stay with ourselves in the times we need ourselves the most.

This is sheer unadulterated pride beaming from this 5 year olds face. She just completed a 150 piece puzzle all by herself in one hour. It was amazing to watch the focus.

Focus is a struggle these days I’m sure most would agree.
.
Lately I’ve begun to notice that whenever I’m about to embark on something that’s close to my inner self or souls purpose a ‘blurry’ resistance jumps in-between us. Most times in my previous life I’ve not noticed it and it’s succeeded in becoming an obstacle.
.
Now I see it and call it out. In fact now it’s my friend because when I notice it, I know I’m on the right track.
.
This phenomenon has been spoken of throughout the ages. Micheal Singer who wrote ‘The untethered soul’ tells us to let this energy pass THROUGH you. Not to get STUCK in it. Pay it no mind, lean away from it.

Sometimes, when you stop trying to save people, they don’t like it. They call you bad, unkind, an abandoner. Instead of meeting their own feelings of rejection, fear and shame, they try to make you feel guilty. They lash out. They blame their unhappiness on you. They want the ‘old you’ back; they want their fantasy of you.
They don't want you; they want the dream.

The most liberating lesson you will ever learn: Nobody can make you happy. And you are not responsible for anybody else’s happiness.

You are free. Freedom is your nature, and always was.

So, like the Sun, you shine. You don’t wait for others to shine, you don't need an excuse to shine, you simply shine. You don’t feel responsible for all the suns that haven’t yet discovered their own shining. You simply shine. You walk your path with courage. You teach by example. And if others are upset by your shining, if they judge you, if they become jealous, if they attack you for not making them the center of your world, that’s okay. That’s their work. That's their path, their pain to process and feel. You wish them well. You hold them in compassion, perhaps. But they do not own you any longer. You are free.

💭💭💭 This week I was starting to wonder what my biggest WEAKNESS and what my biggest STRENGH is. And I came to the realization that "EMPATHY" is the answer for both. Beeing an empathic person makes myself weak and strong at the same time. ✨

I am able to relate with different peoples situations and think about why somebody is hurt because I always try to understand other people's actions and give them the chance to apologize or at least explain it to me. I always thought it is a good characteristic but at the same time there were many situations in my life where I felt like I had too much understanding for the other person and it made me TOO kind. So it lead to situations where people used my empathy and I questioned myself: "Why did I try to understand them? Why am I the one who is trying to be kind and not the other way around?" and so on. Well that is the reason why empathy is my biggest weakness and strengh at the same time - and I am proud of it. Because now I want to embrace the weak part to an even stronger part. I want to embrace my empathy to a more powerful strengh. I do not want to feel "used" in situations, I want to be proud of myself being the bigger person who is able to comprehend others. In addition my empathy makes myself a conscious human being and influences my lifestyle which makes me pretty proud. 💁🏾‍♀️🌱 What is your biggest weakness and strengh? Maybe it is the same characteristic maybe it is not. I want you to think about it and embrace it. 💫

I got the idea from a friend to make a picture of the child version of who I am my bookmark as a reminder. A reminder that at my core and yours that we still are that little person, with hopes and dreams, hearts and minds filled with excitement and eager to explore. As kids we are so open to everything love, joy, unknowns, even scary or painful things but we take all them as lessons.

The idea behind this is that we remind ourselves that we are still fragile, still need forgiveness, still need love. That we crave adventure and to be curious. To remind ourselves that we deserve happiness and to be a person that little us would look up to.
.
And I just want to remind myself that everyday I have the choice to allow myself to be open or closed off to life and the things that are happening, to remember to embrace both good and bad, the comfortable and uncomfortable, & allow my capacity to be stretched and continue to learn and uncover parts of who I am at my core.

The truth is we block so many good things from ourselves because we get scared or uncomfortable or we hold doubt in our hearts/minds. But if we just decide and keep choosing to allow what’s meant for us to happen, we would be so much more open & receptive to enjoying a full life of experiencing high energy, love, adventure, and excitement.
.
So a message from me to me, don’t forget who you are, where you came from, or your deepest desires because you deserve to live them out and your little you is cheering you on, knowing your working on living your best life becoming your best you ♥️ don’t get to caught up in the small things, go easy on yourself, & forgive yourself often. Most of all LOVE BIG, smile bigger, and always laugh til ya cry 😂

When I am on the receiving end of blame and attacks, I find it helpful to take some time to slow down and remember these words from Brené Brown: “We often try to fault others for our mistakes because it makes us feel like we’re still in control. “But leaning into the discomfort of mistakes is how we can learn from them. Blame is simply the discharging of discomfort and pain. It has an inverse relationship with accountability. If you are blaming, there is no accountability. You are too busy discharging your anger, discomfort and pain on others and not looking at yourself or those around you.“ While being on the receiving end of blame is never fun, remembering this from a place of stillness and slowness provides the space for empathy to arise for the person who is attacking me. From this place, I can also begin to offer myself some love and compassion for the pain that is being discharged on me, which gives me the courage to sit with the discomfort and pain, breath by breath rather than getting triggered into a knee-jerk reaction. While we can’t control how others treat us, we can always take some time to slow way down and care for our own emotions so that we don’t perpetuate the never-ending blame game cycle.

When I am on the receiving end of blame and attacks, I find it helpful to take some time to slow down and remember these words from Brené Brown: “We often try to fault others for our mistakes because it makes us feel like we’re still in control. “But leaning into the discomfort of mistakes is how we can learn from them. Blame is simply the discharging of discomfort and pain. It has an inverse relationship with accountability. If you are blaming, there is no accountability. I gave myself the task to read a new book every week. This week I am starting with the book "The Untethered Soul- the journey beyond yourself" by Michael A. Singer.
And I already have a few favourite paragraphs in the book, this is one of them: "If you want to be happy, you have to let go of the part of you that wants to create melodrama. This is the part that thinks there’s a reason not to be happy. You have to transcend the personal, and as you do, you will naturally awaken to the higher aspects of your being. In the end, enjoying life’s experiences is the only rational thing to do. You’re sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Go ahead, take a look at reality. You’re floating in empty space in a universe that goes on forever. If you have to be here, at least be happy and enjoy the experience. You’re going to die anyway. Things are going to happen anyway. Why shouldn’t you be happy? You gain nothing by being bothered by life’s events. It doesn’t change the world; you just suffer. There’s always going to be something that can bother you, if you let it."

my body was begging me for a break. I really didn’t want to listen....but I caved. I was exhausted. Physically, I’ve been working out 5 days a week along with walking my dogs everyday. Mentally, I had been studying non-stop. Before the gym, before work, during breaks, during commutes, and during any spare time I had available. I am absolutely in love with everything I have been learning so a lot of the time it doesn’t even really feel like ‘homework’, but it still works my mind. so four days later, three of those days being free of studying as well, I’m back at it and feeling much better ☺️ what’s your favorite form of self care? mine was spending my time with family and my fur babes on my days off. nothing like love to fill yourself back up 💘

I have been complaining way too much lately about my first-world problems. “My beautiful new puppy is making me sleep-deprived and ruining my good morning yoga routine...I have ANOTHER commitment this weekend and no free time...OMG it’s Monday AGAIN and I have to go to work...others’s opinions...traffic...expired TJ Maxx credit card...OH MY GOD I ASKED FOR A MOCHA NOT A FUCKING FRAPPE!”

I’m constantly preaching about finding the light in every situation AND gratitude, and here I am annoying myself for being so needy and high-maintenance (I partially blame this Virgo season, but I know I’m human). Not only am I telling myself to shut up, but now I’m thinking of the world we live in and how dare I complain about this incredible life I’ve been given.

Where do you draw the line between allowing yourself to feel and feeling guilty for feeling these feelings? Is it about controlling your feelings? Or just your reactions to them? Is it about gaining perspective by comparing your life to those of others? That seems dangerous.. Is it more about reflecting on the reasoning behind these feelings? Who is it that feels? If our feelings tell us what we’re thinking, then what’s the root of these thoughts?

I picked up Untethered Soul again for probably the tenth time this weekend, and it somehow never fails to bring me back. “There is nothing more important to true growth than realizing you are not the voice of the mind - you are the one who hears it.” I finally stopped bitching and started listening.

I have a beautiful life that I get to continue to really live. I’m a mom to two beautiful fur babies. I have jobs that give me the space and flexibility to do the things I love while I support myself. I have the most supportive family, a bestie for a sister, and friends who would do anything for me and vice versa. I GET to determine the life I want to live! With this kind of power (that we all have) comes so many consequences to how we choose to live. 🌵
To bitch or to listen? To control or to let go? I don’t know. All I know is I’m happy I’m whining about the life I’m creating for myself...the happiness I’m creating for myself. 💚

Pause, take a breath and choose something different. Flood yourself with a loving, connected presence. Instead of turning away, turn towards yourself with love and compassion. Just this time. Even if for only one or two seconds, that is enough. A whole new world is born from that. 💚

I have a new, super soulful episode of Awaken Radio for you today, which is all about surrendering to the divine plan ✨
And I sense this is a much needed conversation right now.
Because many of us are moving through significant changes and transitions this year, and we are needing to surrender in a big way.
We are being asked to release control, relinquish our plan and even let go of things that we feel deeply attached to.
We are being asked to tune into our intution and follow it courageously.
And to practise deep trust as we allow this inner voice to guide our lives.

This is all happening so that we can be led to what is truly right for us.
So that we can walk the path of our highest growth.
And step into our greatest expansion.
So that we can experience the lessons and gain the learnings we need to evolve into the next level our lives.

And while this is a deeply sacred process it can also be unsettling, scary and filled with uncertainty
It may often make no sense or cause others to question us.
But this is what happens when you live in alignment with your own divine truth.
You stop doing what makes sense, what gets others approval or what society says is right, and you start following the wild call of your own heart and soul.

So that we can walk the path of our highest growth.
And step into our greatest expansion.
So that we can experience the lessons and gain the learnings we need to evolve into the next level our lives.

And while this is a deeply sacred process it can also be unsettling, scary and filled with uncertainty
It may often make no sense or cause others to question us.
But this is what happens when you live in alignment with your own divine truth.
You stop doing what makes sense, what gets others approval or what society says is right, and you start following the wild call of your own heart and soul.

YOU ARE NOT AN IMPOSTER: I hope you know that you don't have to convince anyone that you've changed for the better, the way you live will show for itself. Don't relentlessly chase outside applause when you can give it to yourself, show yourself some love for the small victories. They count too.

The person you were in the past might bring you shame sometimes, the memory of who you used to be might ignite that familiar sense of guilt, and although it might never go away completely - it doesn't have to rule your life.

Remember; there are people out there that will struggle to believe that you aren't the same person anymore, despite all evidence - but this has nothing to do with you. This doesn’t make you a fraud, dishonest, or all the negative things your comfort zone (and theirs) is screaming at you.

When Imposter Syndrome kicks in, my inner fuckery starts taunting me, attempting to plant unhelpful seeds, and reminding me of things I've done in the past. Despite how well I'm doing externally, there are times when my mind will make me doubt it ALL.

When this happens, it's as if I shouldn't feel proud of myself for what I've accomplished, as if I'll never shake that identity of "fuck-up", but I have - and this upsets the part of me that wants us to stay stuck. Our brains hate change, and they will do anything to keep us ‘safe’ from it. Including harassing us!

I normally let myself feel annoyed and useless, then I take the role of The Observer and watch my mind weave the wildest stories. Only then do I start to see just how silly the mind can be, all in the name of protection. I've personally found that unhooking myself in this way calms me, and gives me perspective.

I guess I’m writing this because I want you to know that you are not unworthy or underserving for having allowed your wounded self to take the drivers seat at a point in time. All the goodness lined up for you is rightfully YOURS.

You’re allowed to fuck up, acknowledge it, make peace, evolve, and STILL WIN. Yes, it will be messy - but that can make the journey more interesting. You’re still doing fucking great, NEVER FORGET THAT! 💫
