Just a light triceps work from tonight. I like these as a way to warm things up. The key is keeping the elbow stationary throughout the movement. I tend to put my bicep against my ear to help keep my form throughout. .

I’ve never used two ropes to do tricep extensions till now. This gives you more room to really go back with the hands and shorten the tricep to get a gnarly squeeze. Glad I gave this a try. Give it a shot next time you hit triceps 💪❤️✌️

UPPER BODY // TRICEPS & SHOULDERS 🙌🏼⁣ ⁣
I did this triceps focused workout this morning before work. To know that we can literally change our body composition, improve our cardiovascular & neurological system, and improve our mood by simply doing 30mins of exercise regularly is crazyyy to me. Why we would choose NOT to do it is simply up to us and a choice. A sedentary lifestyle is increasingly becoming more common, and just being aware of our habits is all it takes to change it 🤘🏼⁣ ⁣
The gym is aaaalways packed no matter what so I try to stay in one place (while ppl look at me weird bc I’m filming the exercises lolol).⁣ ⁣
I tried to keep my elbows as close to my body as possible without moving my forearms. I didn’t succeed in doing so in all exercises😅, but my arms are sore alreadyyy.⁣

Today’s workout consisted of 20 minutes of stair intervals followed by:
3X12 Dumbbell bicep curls.
3X12 Standing dumbbell tricep extension.
3X12 Dumbbell side lateral raise.
3X12 Dumbbell hammer curls
3X12 Dumbbell single-arm tricep kickback
2X12 Dumbbell shoulder presses.

Cool down with a nice stretch.

Dragged myself out of bed and got to the gym at 7am this morning, which is definitely a new record for me!! ✅.
To my surprise there was quite a bit of people in the gym at the same time, so I guess that’s a thing that people actually do on a regular basis heheh😅😂😇.
Regardless, I still felt pretty accomplished after my workout was done, and now I know that it is, in fact, doable to work out this early in the am🤓. Sooo there goes that excuse for skipping the gym when I have a busy day!!!👋🏻.

I see triceps extensions being done with an underhand grip and it really bugs me because it is just a waste of time and strain on your wrists. Just because it makes the exercise harder it doesn’t make it more effective. Swipe left for info on learning more about what works in the gym. ⠀

The triceps muscles insert into the olecranon process of the ulna making them an elbow extensor. However The Ulna is not effected at all by the movement of the wrist, that’s all coming from the radius and that is good. You wouldn’t want a very mobile elbow because it would decrease its stability. You can try this yourself, touch your elbow and rotate your wrist and you will see no movement occurs. ⠀

Why is that important, well we do different exercises in order to train a muscle in a different length, position and allow for a different load (usually greater). Using a supine grip provides non of that making it an unbeneficial exercise that can be substituted with anything else. ⠀

The second thing being is that the wrist extensors tend to be weaker than the wrist flexors (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21913160) hence why we can’t do a lot of weight in that position. This can potentially lead to unneeded strain on the wrist and the elbow extensors. Not saying it will cause you an injury but its not something you want to add on. Tag someone to let them know about this exercise.

We all have different muscle belly sizes and tendon lengths which factor into determining whether your biceps look more like the right or left

If your biceps look like the LEFT example you have longer muscle bellies which extend fully to the tendon giving you longer fuller biceps

If you have biceps like on the RIGHT you have shorter muscle bellies but more of a peak on your biceps. —
Whatever your biceps shape train them often and train both heavy and with lighter weights to grow your biceps to the best of your potential
