Well, the day as passed, and I’m happy to report that I didn’t gain 20 pounds from skipping a workout. For so many years I lived with a mindset that unless I worked out, I would obsess about my body instantly gaining weight over night. Sounds a bit dramatic but the reality is, for many women (and men) we all know it’s very common.

I’m very familiar with that stress, that anxiety, that fear and how controlling and consuming it can still be for many. I haven’t fully recovered and some days it easy to fall back into that mindset and let those lies have power. But days like this, where I can spend time with my family, feel productive, find fulfillment in accomplishments outside of burning calories, remind me how liberating it is to feel free from that prison.

So if today you’re feeling anxious about not working out, I hope you can consider an alternative perspective from a recovering body obsesser. Whatever activities took your workout’s place, losing the weight of guilt is by far more powerful and empowering than burning 300 calories.

I haven’t had much of a reason to work on the circus dumbbell as they haven’t been in any of my competitions except one at lighter weight, so today we played. .
PR’d 85 lbs oh and then again
PR’d 95 lbs - 100 was so close

💥💥 May Transformation Story💥💥 We've all been there! We put on weight from the college years. We put on the newlyweds weight. We finally have our dream job, a home, kids...we are HAPPY!
But, on the inside we are constantly playing the comparison game with others and negative self-talk happdns daily. Our clothes become too tight and when we look in the mirror we tell ourselves lies and break ourselves down time and time again.

Can you relate to this? 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 I have found a lifestyle, a mindset and a belief in myself that lifts me up more than it drags me down. I have finally come to a place in my life, at 35 years of age and after having my kids, that I figured something out. And that is THIS - my circumstances, my past, my present , and my future DO not define my here and now. I figured out that in order to look in the mirror and be proud of who I was started from the inside and eventually, with consistent practice, my outside reflects the work that I've done. Learning who I am as a stay-at-home mom, someone who overcame Postpartum Depression, having someone I love battle with addiction, loosing grandparents, and much much more in the last 4 years has allowed me to grow, evolve and see all that is possible for me. It was allowed me to be a fighter for the life that I want to live and the legacy I want to leave behind for my kids!
We always wait for "the right time" or "when I have more time". Stop!!! That time is NOW!!' Excuses are simply obstacles in our minds/hearts that can be overcome by changing our mindset and committing to showing up every day. Because doing something "sometimes" or "when I am less busy" doesn't create results and I would never have felt this confident in a swim suit and in my own skin had I not started somewhere and stuck with it for more than what was convenient !!! ❤️

Curtesy lunges because..I’m a princess 👑
Omg these were hard! I feel like when I work with both legs, like squatting, I have pretty good strength again in my legs. Today during my personal training, we did a lot of exercises using only one leg, like these curtesy lunges. It was a struggle for me! I feel like when I have to balance on one leg, and then squat down- I feel like my legs are going to give out. I have a hard time with balance and the strength in my legs is still a little weak. Especially my left leg, the leg with the skin graft. When I did this lunge I was not “allowed” to put my foot down to the ground, and I did not think I would be able to do it. When I was doing this move I did not feel like I was doing it right, like I was not squatting down far enough, like I was wobbling all over and when my trainer kept saying I was doing a good job I did not believe him at all because in my head I thought I was “failing”. When I watched this video back, I almost didn’t recognize that it was me. That is not how I thought I looked when I was doing this exercise. When I watched this back I looked strong. I looked like I was actually doing it right and I felt so much happiness and pride inside of myself. How in the heck am I doing that!?! Sometimes we get stuck in our heads and think/feel like we are struggling, look bad, and are failing. If we can get out of our heads, we might surprise ourselves with just how strong and capable we truly are! I am feeling proud, strong and sore today! 💕

I battled ladybugs in my hair, and yellow jackets coming right at my face when I was under-load to get this front squat PR today.
.
I had more juice, but I was done. At the top of this, as I was going back to the rack, a yellow jacket landed on my cheek (and I threw the bar at its approaching sibling) - and if that's not a clear sign to call it and head to the fall festival at the orchard, I don't know what is.
.
Practice makes progress, and even with a little lean at the bottom, I'm feeling superbly about the progress I've made on the squats of the front kind.

You’ve made it through today.
Say a prayer of thanks and once tomorrow shows up realize how much stronger you are because once again you’ve survived one of your hardest days.
And once tomorrow does show up, be grateful you got through today. Then let it go because you can’t change it anymore.
Now you need to focus on taking that newfound strength and leveraging it towards reaching your goals and dreams.
Examine what it’s going to take to use that strength so you CAN reach those goals and dreams, and go after it with everything you have.

You’re worth it ❤️

Challenge 24 has kicked off. Scan results this morning were awesome considering my recent scone and carb addictions.
Goals this challenge are to reduce my body fat % by around 3%, lift heavy and maintain/gain muscle.
I usually drop muscle in challenges, but am upping my calorie intake this round and will scan mid challenge to keep an eye on progress.
RIP scone addiction 😂😂

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday I hopped aboard the struggle bus at the end of my 16 miler. And for the rest of the day I felt like that struggle bus let me off then ran me over 🚌😰. I did all the things to make myself feel better... hydrated, ate lots of good food, put my legs up and then ate A LOT of @charitythurman ‘s favorite - PICKLES 😜 (Charity HATES pickles and I can’t get enough of them 😂) Yesterday’s run was pancake flat on the road. Felt like total 💩 Today’s was all trail with loads of steep climbing. But I was shocked, and very pleased, to find that on today’s run I felt FANTASTIC! 💃🏻 Looking back I think my electrolytes were off going into yesterday’s run, specifically sodium. All the pickles and heavily pink-salting my food did the trick! Phew! And now I’m tapering on my merry little way 😁

Weighed in at 219 to start my 32nd year on Earth. First time in the 2-teens in awhile. Was close a month ago but after 4 weeks of baby leave, I put a few pounds back on. 😂 Apparently when you turn 31, everything just gets a little funky. I woke up feeling pretty great but it all went kind of sideways as soon as I started moving in the gym. Something wasn’t firing right and my knees kept wanting to lock out early. Also felt like I was going to toss my cookies on every rep for whatever reason but I got through it.

Got a 275lb pause rep on bench today. Last couple times have been a touch and go. Also got 205lb overhead press again after squats and bench so not real fresh. Bagels are part of meal #3. Also had 4 eggs and 5 small sausages. #benchpress #bagels #strongman #strongerthanyesterday #nutella #peanutbutter #powerlifting #bulking

So dumbbell Hang to over head and half a burpee over the dumbbell. @roguefitness. @virusintl Maternity pants would have helped. My Monday motivation.

This weekend coach and beautiful friend @livingbeautyamelia competed in the @WBFF_aust pro/am show on the Gold Coast.
.
It has been an inspiration watching her journey as she juggled business, motherhood, study and her competition prep. .
She is a REGULAR reminder for me of what is possible when you do things with passion, love and determination.
.
✔️Accept that there is no easy path, and that the ability to adapt and refocus are necessary skills on any journey towards a goal.
.
✔️Plan out your goals, but be prepared to design as you go as well. Don’t give up.
.
✔️Have a strong ‘why’. Know your why/s and revisit these on your journey often.
.
✔️Be open to growth and learning. Challenging yourself, your personal barriers, and your mindset. Challenges helps us grow, lean in to them and learn from them.
.
✔️No ones journey is perfect, if you are leaping hurdles and continuously reevaluating and juggling priorities ... you are doing what 99% of the rest of us are doing in order to reach our goals!
.
✔️Self love and self care are essential, being the best version of you for yourself, but also for others.
.
Amelia is a mumma of two beautiful babies, completes study, is a wonderful coach and support to clients @livingbeautyfitness and a beautiful friend. Super proud of her.

Yesterday I went to Victoria Secret to try on bras. I had a moment in the dressing room where for the first time in my life I actually was happy with how I looked. I’ll spare you those pictures. But I chalked it up to my makeup being on point, my bra working some wonders, and the poorly lit dressing room.
But today I woke up and realized it wasn’t the lighting or all of the makeup. I’m actually happy to look in the mirror these days. I am currently the lowest weight I’ve been as an adult. But it’s more than that. Had you told me last year at this time that I’d take these pictures, I’d have told you that you were nuts. That I’d post them on Instagram? I’d say you had lost your freaking mind. But the last year has been about changing my focus. The goals I set were not based on numbers on a scale. I set goals for Spartan races I wanted to accomplish. I set goals for things I wanted to be able to do physically in the gym. And when I got there I kept fucking going. New goals, new races. And as I push forward towards these goals it has become less about what the body that would carry me through these races would look like and more about celebrating the fact that that body could do these things.
Initially when I contemplated making this post I thought it would be about holding myself accountable. But it’s really not. It’s a celebration of the journey, the stumbles and the small victories along the way towards being happy with who I am.

When your morning IG memory is clearly of a back workout, you figure out your schedule to make one happen that day.
I had a lot of doubts leaving a gym with group instruction. But I needed time to workout on my own. I wanted to listen to my music (thank you @pandora). I wanted to be able to workout when time permitted.
Mostly I wanted change and wanted to switch things up. For 39 weeks I have been doing #pwrprogram by @kelseywells and I feel stronger. I actually cannot wait to work out each day. I can lift, do abs focused training and even yoga. I cannot tell you how great the @sweat app truly is!
This is my year’s progress. I can’t see how much difference but I feel strong. I have energy and I’m busting through shirts so that’s clearly #gainz. 🤣💪🏼 #sweatsunday

Sometimes you have to pause and think about how far you’ve come! 😵⠀

Hi. My name is Jennifer and I have lost nearly half my body weight by making healthy changes. No crazy crash diet ever will lead to the same kind of long-term results as simply making small changes to become a healthier version of you, every single day. ⠀
.⠀
I’m thankful for a hubby who has loved me at all sizes. Ya know what that’s taught me? It’s taught me that my worth is not determined by my outward appearance. Am I kind? Am I encouraging to the people around me? Am I a source of support? Am I a channel of love?⠀
.⠀
Those are the things that make me who I am. ⠀
.⠀
BUT... my health is important to me. And in order to be in my best me, I’ve learn that it’s important to pay attention to all sides of the matter. My physical health, the way I see myself, the place from which I find my own value, how I fuel my body, how much exercise I commit to... it all matters.⠀
.⠀
I’ve not arrived. My health journey is ongoing. It always will be. But I’m thankful today for the (much needed) reminder of how far I’ve come. How many victories I’ve had. How many times I’ve pressed through the moments of failure and defeat. A lot of hard work, both inwardly and outwardly has had to take place (and still does), in this area of my life and I’m just thankful that God has graced me to keep making progress in this battle that has been a thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. ❤️⠀
