Bulletproof your elbows and rehab elbow pain
#
The #biceps brachii (short head and long head of the biceps) crosses both the shoulder and #elbow joint.  The two heads combine to inserts at the same point on the elbow joint (RADIAL bone in the forearm) and have several functions including flexing the elbow, supinating the forearm (palms up), and assisting several movements of the shoulder joint, shoulder stabilisation being one.
#
The brachialis muscle is another elbow flexor that crossed the elbow joint and inserts into the ULNA, it is often a weak link in pulling #strength.  When the forearm is pronated (palms down), the biceps brachii has an ineffective line of pull compared to supination, this is why we are often stronger in #chinup over the #pullup. 
#
In a pronated grip, the brachialis is primarily responsible for generating elbow flexion force. Overtraining supinated pulling movements, or curls, can cause an imbalance between the biceps brachii and the brachialis muscles.  Chronic elbow pain (#golferselbow, #tenniselbow etc.) are some of the most common injuries people experience partly because of this imbalance.
#
It is therefore important to train pulling movements, and curls, with different #grip variations.  Supinated, pronated semi-supinated, mixed-grip, close grip, wide grip are some of the many options available to add variety, increase strength, and prevent #injury.
#
Building an effective #trainingprogram requires an in-depth knowledge of #anatomy and #programdesign principles.  Following the same workout for months on end, or only training the movements you are strong at can quickly lead to injury.

Everything about this place says to me "You belong"; "You are safe"; "Gavaza". From watching the sunrise, The smell of the soil after the rain, to the great satisfaction of planting a seed and witnessing GOD's power at work ...from a sprout to a fully matured plant. Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4
-
✅Ingredients:
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp grated ginger
2 tbsp soy sauce
14 oz firm tofu, cut into cubes
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cucumbers, thinly sliced
2 carrots, spiralized
½ cup pickled ginger
2 spring onions, sliced
5 oz fava beans,
cooked and peeled
3 radishes, sliced
4 cups cooked brown rice

✅For dressing:
1/4 cup pickled ginger liquid
2 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp soy sauce
-
➡Directions:
1.To marinate the tofu, combine the garlic, grated ginger and 2 tbsp soy sauce in a bowl. Add the tofu cubes, and toss to coat. Marinate for minimum one hour.
2.To make the dressing, place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.
3. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. 
4. Divide the brown rice, tofu, carrots, fava beans, radishes, pickled ginger and cucumber between 4 food containers. Sprinkle with spring onions and drizzle with dressing.
5.Serve immediately or store in refrigerator for up to 4 days.

2018 AUSTRALIA’S STRONGEST MAN, DAY 2, EVENT 8: ATLAS STONE SERIES OVER 1.3M.

I believe this was one of my best stone series ever. I managed to load three stones out of five over 1.3m, 150kg, 170kg and 190kg. I nearly loaded the 200kg but the stone slipped off my right forearm. 
I look forward to improving my stone loading for 2019.

People develop addictions to shield themselves from intolerably painful feelings. An addiction always creates harmful, often ignored consequences. Only when it becomes unmanageable will people do something about it. 
As with all addictions, recovery is a process of self-discovery. Loooves a terrible camera angle. First deadlift in a little while, 120 for 5. Followed by 130 for 3 and 140 for 1, not filmed cause I wasnt sure if I'd hit it or not. 
I've been missing too many sessions put of my current 5 day program so I'm moving back to my 4 day in the hopes I'll be able to maintain that and get all 4 in during the week.

Might have to post a bench video at some point. Prepare to be underwhelmed.

I don't think any of us like our weaknesses on display. I'd much rather hide them myself. BUT God's POWER is on display in  weakness. .

These are good reminders as I step back into BSF leadership. The lies I keep hearing are that I'm not good enough. But that is the beautiful thing. I don't have to be. I just have to rely. God will do the work. It's not at all about what I can do, but what HE can do! I am weak but He is strong.

ALL SHOULDER TRAINING IS CUFF TRAINING

When you look at rotator cuff rehab or general strengthening, most people think of the rotational movements first. And almost everyone can identify the band rotation as a "shoulder rehab exercise".
.
These movements are practically synonymous with the cuff.
.
But...they aren't the only way to load the cuff.
.
In 2011, Wattanaprakornkul et al released two EMG papers detailing how the cuff activates in a direction specific manner.
.
They found that when subjects performed a bench press or flexion based movement, the posterior cuff (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor) became much more active than the anterior cuff (subscapularis). And when they performed rowing or extension based movements, the opposite pattern was seen.
.
And in 2015, Reed et al showed that the whole cuff was activated well with abduction (think lateral raise movements).
.
It was proposed that this happens so that the cuff can counterbalance translational forces on the humerus provided by the prime movers, the pecs and lats.
.
And one other finding of each of these studies was that muscle recruitment increased as load increased in the movement. So as the prime mover worked harder, the cuff worked harder as well.
.
So the practicality of this info is that all shoulder training is rotator cuff training.
.
While you may start with rotational movements in a rehab program, we can and should eventually move past them to more compound, demanding exercises where more load can be applied.
.
And also, there are no magical shoulder health exercises. Facepulls, external rotations, ITYW's, etc are all good exercises, but they are just a method to apply load to drive adaptation, not a panacea for shoulder health.
.
Healthy shoulders and a healthy cuff will come down much more to having a well rounded, progressive strength training program that increases overall capacity in the long term and manages load and fatigue in the short term.

So remember...all shoulder training is cuff training.

From training gear to putting on a dress for the night and can I just tell you it felt amazing lol I honestly spend my days training, working out, studying or running errands all in the most comfortable clothes but tonight was a different story. How often do you guys get dressed up and head out for a night on the town? Also does anyone else have the same problem that your gym clothes express yourself better then regular clothes? #nightout
