Pain with squatting? Trouble getting into those lower cabinets at home? Trying to prevent knee surgery? A good bit of the time, the knee responds well to joint re-positioning to get the joint aligned properly so healing can occur. This will, of course, be followed up with proper strengthening ex’s but proper joint mobility cannot be ignored. Share this with anyone you know with knee trouble. Remember, not all physical therapy is the same and if I can’t help you, I’ll let you know before you’ve spent all your time and money on PT before surgery. Have a great week!

A few months back I got 295x6 but i was at 172 lbs, and was wearing a weight belt and knee wraps.

Getting back to being in a really good hole position in the squat. Stronger quads have helped withthe front tilt and I have also gained more control in our quad prio phase. Overall beginning to feel that Im getting close to a weight plateau on the diet so I need to focus extra hard on muscle activation. Lets go!

Surge to New Levels Gym

After traveling all weekend and being obnoxiously dehydrated, I was really concerned with how today was going to feel. Everything felt pretty great, started with sleeved squats, then moved to wrapped squats. Got a little cocky for my first time back in wraps and my knee caved pretty bad on the last rep but 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Excited for this meet prep and this meet.

Here it is. The first 501 pound pull I’ve ever had. I’ve been chasing this one for awhile...it’s been surreal to me that I hit this on my last attempt. -

The heaviest deadlift I had in training was 456. That was my second attempt (second video) and I opened VERY light at 419. My planned third attempt was 470-480, 480 would match my best deadlift. I knew I wanted 5 going into this meet but I figured it just wasn’t my time, especially considering that each meet I add only 5-10 lbs on my deadlift. -

So many people asked if I was pulling 500 this day and I joked about how I wished, but I was only going for 480. It was after my second attempt that I told @bigbrololo & @optimusgonzo to MAKE THE CALL. They are two of the people who have seen my performance most and I said if I have it, then load it. So they did 👊🏽 -

This was a goal for so long. Pulling 500 @ 165 was my goal since the basically my first 405 😂 but what was even cooler was having so much support on this. Having @bigbrololo @optimusgonzo and @ssutter_ all there screaming and waiting for a bear hug at the end was priceless. They’ve been the support squad since day 1 and it meant the world to me. This pull broke two major goals of mine- to squat 5 and pull 5, now I just gotta do it in the same meet 😉

Strength pyramid: training, nutrition, rest - picked up from Bill Starr

What does this mean?
“There are three sides to the strength pyramid: training, nutrition and rest.
.
It takes time to learn how to do various exercises using proper technique, what exercises to do on which training days, what sets and reps to use, etc. Sometimes it can take two or three years to do so unless you happen to be lucky enough to have a mentor.
.
Same for nutrition. Everyone has individual needs and requirements, so it takes trial and error over an extended period of time to know just what foods and nutritional supplements benefit you the most in terms of training and recovery.
.
However, you really don’t have to spend any time thinking about the rest factor, nor does it cost you any money. Yet this is the factor most overlooked in strength training.
.
Obtaining an adequate amount of rest is not a luxury; it’s an absolute necessity. And I’m not just talking about getting bigger and stronger. Rest is critical to our overall health in a very big way.” - Starr

What does this mean?

⏱ Improve WOD times Involving a Barbell⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each class lasts 1 hour and is capped at 4 people so each athlete gets plenty of coaching! We currently have two classes on Sunday’s at 10am and 1130am. Go to the link in our bio and click 'Semi Private Class' to get started!

“More pop at the top” - picked up from Bill Starr

When?
Finishing the second pull with maximum velocity
.
What does this mean?
“Having a strong finish is critical to moving heavy weights in the full clean.
.
Without a powerful finish, the lifter does not have adequate time to move under the bar and rack it securely, no matter how quick he might be.
.
In order to make a personal record in the clean, the lifter must pull the weight high enough with an explosive punch at the finish, and he must also know exactly when to move under the bar.” - Starr
.
