New personal best: 81 push-ups in 1 go.

New next goal: 90.

Last night I was too damn tired for a proper workout regime but excuses are good for Gomer Pyle, so no thank you maam. Still I had to adjust this workout to what was already done this week. The outcome was as simple as that: variations of push-ups + abs. I thought I will see if I can do 60 this time in first series... I did 81 which was quite surprising result. Fast moves, proper length of movement till full lock of elbows. I want more :-)

This morning no work out video because I was listening to @jiaruan 's podcast while doing my thing. For all my Dutch followers I encourage you to check him out! It gave me new found motivation to work harder on my website and other non calisthenics related things!

And yes I also work with a few machines to fill the gaps in my calisthenics routine, to give an extra dimension to certain muscle groups otherwise harder to achieve with just bodyweight training.

Come tomorrow I'll be working out with my buddy @juicedness Very excited for that one! 💪

So if you want to gain muscle or lose fat make sure you are gradually  increasing reps, speed, poundage etc.

What’s up Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here with a quick push-up tip for you!

We like to coach our members to perform pushups with their elbows at around 45 degrees from their sides.
-
This is a bit more “shoulder friendly” than the traditional 90 degree position we often see, and we also think it’s just better from a leverage standpoint.
-
Think about it - if you had to push something heavy like a sled or maybe even a broken down car, or if you had to do something more explosive like a basketball or medicine ball chest pass, or if you’re a powerlifter trying to bench press the most weight possible, your elbows would more than likely be tucked rather than flared out super high.

There isn’t anything seriously wrong with the first picture, but we do think that the second is a significant upgrade both in position and potential leverage.

This is a bit more “shoulder friendly” than the traditional 90 degree position we often see, and we also think it’s just better from a leverage standpoint.

Think about it - if you had to push something heavy like a sled or maybe even a broken down car, or if you had to do something more explosive like a basketball or medicine ball chest pass, or if you’re a powerlifter trying to bench press the most weight possible, your elbows would more than likely be tucked rather than flared out super high.

There isn’t anything seriously wrong with the first picture, but we do think that the second is a significant upgrade both in position and potential leverage.

A new study finds that middle-aged men who can do more than 40 push-ups in one go had a 96 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease events compared with those able to do fewer than 10.

Furthermore, push-up capacity was more strongly associated with cardiovascular disease risk than the results of submaximal treadmill tests.

Other studies have shown that muscular strength is associated with lower cardiometabolic risk independent of cardiorespiratory fitness. 
__
Muscular strength has been shown to have an independent protective effect for all-cause mortality and hypertension in healthy males and is inversely associated with metabolic syndrome incidence and prevalence. 
__
Best of all is that the test is free and very simple to perform! How many push-ups can you do?
