In my own personal experience, I know how hard being a new parent is... your world is flipped upside down, babies don’t come with a guide book, expectations on yourself and your baby are completely unrealistic and we live in a world where you’re pretty much damned if you do, damned if you don’t. The pressures on Mum’s in today’s society are HUGE! Breastfeed, bottle feed.. Self settle, co-sleep... is your baby hitting all the right milestones at the right time... stay at home Mum, working Mum...the list goes on... and honestly, it doesn’t change as they get older! We live in a world where we’re constantly connecting with people via social media yet can feel completely alone. You are not alone, so many Mumma’s out there are experiencing those same feelings of worry and self doubt, but we just don’t talk about it enough. You are not alone, you are doing an amazing job and as long as you little darlings feel loved then that’s ALL that matters. The challenge raises money and awareness for mental health. Over the course of 21-days in July (8th-28th), David will complete 3,128 push-ups in total, representing the number of lives lost in Australia due to mental health issues in 2017.

DAY 12 PUSH-UP CHALLENGE and flash back to 21 years ago when I became a mum for the third time. Looking at this picture you would think this was the happiest time in my life. I was so lucky to have 3 beautiful healthy children. But sometimes it was far from happy. Just the physical demands of being a mum was overwhelming. I had a school aged child with chronic asthma and severe eczema, a toddler who at the time was undiagnosed with ASD and a newborn baby who I was breastfeeding every 2-3 hours day and night. I was exhausted, emotional and just fumbling my way through day to day, moment to moment. 
I was one of the lucky ones though as I had running as my escape. My time to just be me and to do something healthy for myself. My children have never known me not to be a runner and they are proud of everything I have achieved. 
My babies are all grown up now (28, 23 and 21) but being a mum is still a huge part of my life (and let me say the problems only get bigger as your kids get older). Life has been a roller coaster ride but running still remains my constant. If it wasn’t for running I don’t know where I would be today. 
Today I did 166 push-ups which represents the 16.6 percent of mothers who get post natal depression. That’s 1 in 6! And it’s not only mums affected. It’s reported that up to 1 in 10 dads are also suffering!
Organisations like @pandanational (PANDA - Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) support women, men and families affected by anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the first year of parenthood.

For the past month I’ve been listening to a meditation focused on activating and growing my solar plexus chakra. Call me crazy but this sh!t works, I’ve noticed a gradual shift and there’s no stopping me now.

Just prepping for the push-up challenge that starts in 2 days!! As a group we are aiming to reach 3128 pushups in 21 days. In 2018, 3128 people committed suicide. It breaks my heart to think that these people thought they had no way out. Help prevent this by joining us in supporting headspace, The National Youth Mental Health Foundation by donating to the link in my bio or taking part in the challenge yourself with your friends. #pushforbetter #strongertogether
