Here we go again! Today I completed my first postpartum workout and began my fitness journey to become the healthy fit mom I want to be for my babies! 🏋️‍♀️

My fit journey through pregnancy definitely prepared me for labor and helped me keep up with my crazy Lij! The last 2 months or so of pregnancy unfortunately came with some road blocks that didn't allow me to continue working out. I got bronchitis which led to me straining my intercostal muscles (rib muscles) and I ended up needing help from family to function for almost 2 weeks due to the severe pain it was causing to do the simplest of movements, like walk (lots of babysitting!). The pain lasted for nearly 6 weeks with the first 2 being the worst of it but luckily I was able to rest enough to have them heal before labor came.

Although I wasn't able to workout near the end I did feel so much stronger and healthier going into this labor then I did with my last pregnancy. My labor was quick and Sophie came out with a push and a half! Much different then my pregnancy with Lij which lasted 36 hours and took 2 and a half hours of pushing.

I also feel that my postpartum journey so far has been easier. I was very swollen and the baby weight came off much slower with my last pregnancy. Although I'm nowhere near where I would like to be yet, I feel extra motivated to get there, especially with seeing how my body is responding to the hard work I put in before Sophie's arrival! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I missed the live workout this morning so I did the 4pm class in the app and then the K&K circuit live from a few weeks ago and a little yoga flow to finish up. I’m thinking I need to get back into doing yoga more frequently because my joints and back are in terrible shape after having Rome and I can barely move some days so maybe #yogaeverydamnday might help with my mobility. Made it to the gym today since Bobby is off all week before he goes on a guy trip this weekend 🙌🏼 Decided to go all out and do a 4x500m erg workout. Back to my old roots 🚣‍♀️ It freaking hurt so good. I’ve been trying really hard to not run all the time but that’s hard when it’s much easier to go out the front door with the stroller rather than finding the time to slip away from the kids and drive to the gym. I’m working on it! My legs hurt and felt like jello walking out of the gym so I’ll call that a win. Also any other former towers out there that oddly miss the hardcore erg workouts we used to hate?

THIS MOMMA IS DEAD. By kickboxing 😍🥊 It felt so good to be back on the mat after almost two years (even though I was totally dead half way through and nothing but sheer will and getting to do my favorite roundhouse kicks kept me going) but what really felt great was walking in and having the wonderful @miss_lily_paige remember me and seem so genuinely excited to see me again! @ilovekickboxing_renonv felt ever as much like home as it used to and it was the much needed break I needed to have some “me time” instead of “mommy time.” Don’t get me wrong, I love my baby more than anything in this world, but I’ve been heading 1000mph towards a burn out, feeling tired all the time, depressed, anxious, not sleeping, and it was getting worse due to the poor little man teething and all the crankiness and crying that accompanies that. I left him with my wonderful godsend of a mother in law, and came back home to my husband came home for lunch and got him down for a nap so that I have a little more time to myself. So grateful! So refreshed! And SO SORE 😍🤩💪🏻🤛🏻🤜🏻👊🏻🥊 @ilovekickboxing

Not only does this photo motivate me bc it’s the PHYSICAL goal I set for myself to get back to by the end of 2019, but also bc of what I know my body is CAPABLE of.

In the last 5.5 years I’ve: gained 54 lbs, grew an entire life inside of me, pushed out a baby naturally with NO epidural, lost all 54 lbs in 8 months time, breastfed for 2.5 years which is the sole reason my daughter has been 97% percentile for weight from every checkup since birth, completely built my curves from nothing, hit a max squat of 235, ran 2 half marathons with minimal training, came in first place in numerous 5ks, ran 3 spartan races to get the infamous trifecta medal, & now I’ve grown another life inside of me while continuing to do what I normally do. .
.
So will I push out my son all natural with no epidural again? YOU BET. Will I lose all of my baby weight & get back to this frame? HELL YEAH. Am I gonna come back stronger than ever? F*#KIN RIGHT! 😤 .

I can feel my body preparing for baby, so it’s only a very short matter of time before it’s game time. Yeah I’m motivated beyond belief, but that doesn’t mean I’m not scared to fail. But what I’m MORE scared of is not trying, living uncomfortably bc it’s easier to not workout & eat crap, & setting unhealthy examples for my children. 💯

How many times have you walked into the gym and just looked around for a bit trying to figure out what to do?! Not knowing how to use the machines? Not feeling comfortable or confident being there because of how you feel or look? •
THIS WAS ME! I was lost when it came to fitness... not sure where to start and that made it so much easier for me to give up. The amount of times I lost motivation because I felt like I didn’t belong and I had no one who was motivating or encouraging me. •
So I quit. •
I learned that when you quit you’re giving up on yourself! YOU are the most important to yourself so why would you give up on yourself?! •
This is why I do what I do. That’s why I’m a part of something bigger than myself! A group of inspiration people doing life alongside one another. Who wouldn’t want this for themselves?! 💕Okay, so over the past year or so you’ve gotten more and more comfortable in the weight room (you go girl!!)

You feel pretty confident using most machines and dumbbells, but you’re still a little intimidated by the barbell. 🥴
.
You’ve heard that deadlifts are an amazing exercise and great for building the glutes 🍑, but you haven’t picked up a barbell yet because you don’t want to hurt yourself or do the exercise incorrectly. ❌
.
🍀 Well, lucky for you there’s a perfect (and safer) way to ease into using a barbell for deadlifts...
.
Enter: the trap bar. 😬
.
‼️Here are 3️⃣ reasons to start deadlifting with the trap bar‼️
.
1️⃣ BACK SAFETY ✅
.
With a conventional deadlift, having the bar in front of you makes it easier to put unnecessary strain on your back.
.
🔑 The trap bar allows you to grip the bar at your side, which helps keep the back safe from potential injury.
.
2️⃣ FORM ✅
.
Going off of # 1, because you’re lifting from the side and not the front, it’s easier to keep your center of gravity in line, which is key for maintaining good from throughout the lift.
.
🔑 Make sure to keep your back flat and core tight throughout the movement!
.
3️⃣ MORE WEIGHT ✅
.
Again, building off of #’s 1 & 2, you’re able to lift more weight with the side grip set-up of a trap bar deadlift, as opposed to a regular deadlift.

🔑 However, if you’re just starting out, keep it light at first! Master your form and slowly start adding weight.
.
🔺 Most trap bars are 45lbs. If that’s still too much, start with a kettlebell or dumbbell and work your way up!

She’s 3 and living her best life!

Bowling party was a great success! She had a blast even though she did become very overwhelmed with the amount of people there. We always invite too many people but in the end we are glad to have everyone there.

The last 2 birthdays were held at our house and mom friends, let me tell you. Having it somewhere else where all you have to do is bring the cake and decorations was much less stressful!

Any-who, how do I have a 3 year old? Mia is truly such a blessing in our lives. She’s been asking for a baby sister for the longest time now. Mom and dad are working on it so hopefully soon we’ll be adding on to our little family 💙

She’s 3 and living her best life!

3 weeks of working out and eating healthy (not perfectly either). I lost 4lbs. Are my results drastic?! Considering it’s only been 21 days I think my results are! Do I have room for improvement? Of course!! That’s why I’m not stopping. I got goals to crush!⁣

My question to you is what were your past 21 days like? Did you think about working out but didn’t? You wanted to eat healthy but didn’t take the necessary steps to do so? Did you look in the mirror and wish your reflection showed something else? ⁣

It doesn’t happen overnight. Do I have a six pack? No! Do I have all my strength in my body back? No! Did I loose all the weight? No! ⁣
But I’m on the right path to do so! It takes hard work folks no mater how you slice or dice it. You gotta commit and you have to be dedicated. 21 days is not long..3 weeks and 30 min a day...and you could be on the right path  with me!⁣

Basically had the realization that I am in a new phase of motherhood that I have been loving - where my kids both get to bed easily before 8pm, sometimes even by 7p and I have the evening to do what I want and actually have energy to do things like exercise!
.
The phase before this was the toddler plus infant stage where tucking in the toddler took forever until she would actually stay in bed, and the baby would struggle to sleep more than a couple hours at a time. 
Any time to myself was short lived and unknown how long it’d last. Once both kids were finally asleep I was exhausted!
.
That phase was hard, real hard. But here we are and it has passed! Everything is a phase. Sooner or later you’ll have life a little more put together than you do right now, believe it or not!
.
And when it comes to fitness during these challenging phases I want to help you figure out what makes sense for you right where you’re at. .
Breastfeeding?

🎀 C I N C O  S E M A N A S  P O S T P A R T O 🎀 ⏳Todavía no ha acabado la cuarentena y aún sigo recuperándome. 💪🏼 Poco a poco, me voy sintiendo más fuerte y ya me siento tentada a entrenar con más peso, aunque debo ser prudente para no lesionarme.
🏋🏻‍♀️ Antes de volver a empezar tenía en mente hacer sólo cardio e ir progresando despacio, metiendo ejercicios de tonificación poco a poco, pero no pude con la tentación y ya hago mis series con poco peso pero despacio y concentrado para mejorar el tono muscular y eliminar la flacidez de llevar tanto tiempo sin poder entrenar.
⭐️ Aunque a veces aparecen viejos demonios, me siento súper motivada para seguir avanzando y alcanzar todas mis metas, porque ésta es “una carrera de fondo” y no gana el que al principio va más rápido. Además una cosa está clara: tengo un objetivo y voy a lograrlo 🙌🏼.

Couch to 5k Week 4 run 1. Today I actually went for a run!! 16 minutes in total, broken up 3mins, 5mins, 3 mins & 5mins. I sweated and was a little out of breath during the 5 minute runs! I kept to a 8min pace during the running. A slight niggle in my pelvis but a comfortable run! I’m so pleased 😁 •

 Today was the BEST! I touched my very first BARBELL TODAY😆😭🙌🏾 My gaaawd I’ve missed it! On week 3 of my 8 week pregnancy and postpartum fitness program through @pregnant.postpartum.athlete and it so happened that some of the movements from this weeks #IRONCAKES program, I’m also starting this week, was in there! I did all the things cause the cakes are looking like I’m apart of the Soggy Bottom Boys and we gotta get em back so I can be explosive and powerful again!🍑 #

These are generally safe for pregnancy, postpartum, and intermediate level for diastasis recti! If you’re focusing on closing your gap and you see your belly bulge or cone while doing these it means you’re not controlling your abdominal pressure properly and you need to modify.

Mountain running 🏞. Nothing sweeter for the soul - but so tough on the lungs! ⚡️Shorter distance this morning, but added in 3x 1/2miles under 7min pace with 2” recovery 😵 at 9500 ft that was brutal! .

This is actually a HUGE win for me. Back when I was pretty newly postpartum, I couldn’t do this back stretch without maneuvering my gut out of the way (like literally picking it up and mushing it over to one side), and even then it got in the way of me really feeling this stretch. Now it doesn’t get in the way!  It figures out its own mushing situation 😂. But seriously, I’m SO thrilled that this back twist stretch finally feels good again! Only a couple of days until my women’s health physio appointment too. Whilst I wait, I’ve been doing lots more walking and dusting off my exercise gear (I haven’t been brave enough to try any of it on yet though 🙈)

In the interests of full disclosure, the increase in walking has left me feeling pretty tired. I started getting a tight pain in my groin whilst on this 5km walk (pictured) and I had to stop to stretch it out.
.
I imagine it’s because I’m pretty weak and I need to build up the strength again so I’ll talk to the physio on Thursday and see what she suggests.

Otherwise I’m excited to get back into the swing of things and set some (achievable and realistic) goals 💪🏻

Real talk: Light lifting at the gym pregnant is fun because I don’t feel the need to suck my stomach in annnd I can’t anyways sooo there is that!🤗 I’ve been loving doing 30-40 minutes of walking. I listen to the @daveramsey podcast and once it’s over I head to the weights. I stick between 5-10 pounds when it comes to lifting! Pregnant, I enjoy focusing on arms 💪🏽 A fit pregnancy journey is very humbling because regardless of the workout and healthy eating everything seems to grow... bigger 🤪 Which is suppose to happen! But it’s fun to focus on having lean arms and have small goals so that’s what I do!

My workout today:
- 40 minutes of walking (goes by fast listening to a podcast!)
- 15 bicep curls with 10 pounds - 15 single arm dumbbell rows (per side) with 10 pounds
- 15 weighted squats (thought it would be fun to throw some glute work into the mix!) using 10 pounds
- 12 lateral arms raises using 5 pounds - 15 tricep kickbacks using 5 pounds

Puuuuh, was für ein Tag 🤯 Ich war heute ab 7.30 Uhr bis 15.30 Uhr nur unterwegs 🏃🏼‍♀️💨 Erst ging es mit der Maus zum Kinderarzt 👩🏽‍⚕️ Sie hat weißen Belag im Mundraum und es ist ein Pilz, den wir nun behandeln werden. Alles nicht schlimm, Gott sei dank 😅 Dann ging’s zum Mamafit, wo ich mich wieder schön auspowern konnte 💪🏼 Danach schnell zu einer Freundin bisschen quatschen 🗣 um dann zu einem wichtigen „Meeting“ zu düsen 🤓 Auf dem Rückweg noch schnell ins Steuerbüro endlich meine Steuererklärung abholen und ab nach Hause 🏡 Melia hat heute gefühlt 5000 Powernappings im Auto gemacht, was man natürlich am frühen Abend merkte 😭😡 Nur Gemecker und Geschrei... daran war ich aber selbst Schuld 🤷🏼‍♀️ Heute ging’s leider nicht anders, dafür gibts dann morgen einen entspannteren Tag für uns 👨‍👩‍👧

Ich starte morgen so wie heute mit Mamafit in den Tag und freue mich jetzt schon drauf 😍 Meine Bauchmuskeln werden auch immer stärker und die Ausführung des „Käfers“ kann sich sehen lassen oder? 👆🏼🐞🤪

Ich guck jetzt mal noch schnell hier bei Insta durch und dann wird 😴 Heute gabs viel Input für Körper und Geist 😏

Almost 5 months postpartum. Tomorrow is Day 1 of the Summer Sprint My Transphormation Challenge. I’ve made progress but definitely not where I want to be. Meals are prepped for the week and I’m ready to start! Let’s go!

Treadmill 4 is where I started. Right under the fan, right by the OTBeat screen. It was “mine” every morning Monday-Friday at 8:15am for 3 years and now she’s coming to live at my house! If you’ve ever been on an OTF treadmill you know they are something special and I’m psyched to have this beauty for winter training if I get into London this year 🤞🏻 Started in March 2016 as a power walker getting into the Orange Zone at 3mph/3% incline, PR’d my mile at 6:52 on this treadmill. Next up: to become a mother runner on tread 4 🔥 We’ve spent hundreds if not thousands of miles together and here’s to many, many more! #otf #morelife #BAMR #MRTT #runlindsayrun #postpartumfitness #runningfortwo #pregnant #32weekspregnant #orangetheoryfitness

#flashbackfriday with this cutie! 🧜🏻‍♀️@alexis_cherise 🖤  I have often done #throwbacks of me with my older kids, but I thought it was time, & would be fun, to see how much this little pumpkin has changed! It’s so interesting how you can love your children instantly and grow to love them even more over time. 🥰 She’s finally at the stage where we can “hang out” and it feels like I have a little friend to talk to, especially since my older girls are always gone now 😭 Seven is seriously the sweetest stage of life. They’re so innocent, yet intelligent; they begin to really find their interests and show progress in their talents and skills, AND, best of all! Their love and attention is still centered mostly on their parents🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼, so no competition with friends, bf’s, their phones, etc. 🙌🏼 Oh, I wish they could stay 7 forever! 🥰 Who else has or has had a 7 year old? Was that one of your favorite stages too? 💖
