Y’all know I love transformations and most of what goes into them... After this show I decided to take a couple weeks of rest (I worked out twice total) and eating (I ate and ate!). I wanted to see how my sense of hunger and anxiety responded and I learned so much. I measured my glucose sometimes two dozen times a day and found I feel best keeping it below 100. I learned that daily cardio must stay in my schedule unless I want to become depressed, even if that means waking up before everyone else in the house. I learned that I love eating solid meals sitting down with my daughter instead of a million snacks or things I crave. I developed physical pain and swelling after certain foods and high blood sugar that truly astonished me (even an old cut on my finger turned purple and started hurting after a day with a bagel and two giant cookies!). I learned that it takes much less weight in the gym to progress than I sometimes use and I’m excited to start fresh with this.
I’m going to be honest... I’ve gained over 10lbs on the scale although probably half of that isn’t fat but water and food volume. I was tempted to ‘get it all off’ in the next two weeks just for funsies but I won’t. My new ‘plan’ is to apply what I’ve learned and focus on proper training (not too much intensity, daily cardio, stretching and deep breathing after) and habits I want to keep (water, family mealtimes, no snacking). I’m not sure if I’m going to work with a coach yet and I’m going to guess I’m eating about 1600-2000 calories while I let some of this inflammation go down.
And I truly truly truly don’t think one size or shape is better than another, hopefully everyone’s caught on that I think that’s a really silly thing to value outside of the processes that get someone to where she is. In fact, some stress eating with River’s change in routine has me feeling like it’s some well earned baby weight 🤣👶🏼💕. I’m not my strongest, leanest, biggest, or smallest but I’m my happiest. I like sharing that the basics truly matter more than any fancy pants tricks out there. I’m going to repost in two weeks what’s happened since I got my habits back in check without extreme changes, however tempting

Post contest Hormone Recovery.

The idea that a post contest anabolic window for growth is true, but it's misunderstood.

During the post contest phase, your body is primed for the anabolism of adipose tissue (fat). During a 12 month trial, Rossow et al. tracked the hormone panels of competitive natural bodybuilders before, during and after their contest prep.

What's important to note is that testosterone decreased all the way until show day (and did not recover until the 3 to 6 month mark). Leptin levels decreased and appeared to recover proportionally to increases in bodyfat post show.

Ghrelin levels (hunger) increased by almost 50% at highest but dropped below baseline post show (but its likely due to a large increase in post show calories) and normalised about the 14 week post show mark.

Cortisol levels doubled at the 3 month mark and were still 50% higher 6 months post show.

An important take away is that at 12 weeks post show bodyweight and bodyfat were almost identical to the start of competition prep (6 months long) cortisol was still much higher, leptin was not fully recovered and fat free mass was a few KG lower.

Takeaways :

Você acha que tira 100% do físico por que treina pesado o ano todo!? Bom então já te digo que assim como ficar de off sem variar pra fases de cutting ou manutenção é ruim , não periodizar o treinamento também não é acredite. Nosso corpo é uma máquina e precisa de mudança de estímulos e recuperação periódica para estar no 100% de rendimento !
Existem algumas formas de fazer a periodizacao escolha a sua com o tempo.Aqui vai uma sugestão apenas, de como vejo as coisas , mas acho fundamental que independente de como vc faça tem que ter pelo menos 3 divisões no ano regenerativo/mobilidade , força , e a maior parte hipertrofia (bulking e cutting)

1- escolha a(s) data(s) do pico do seu físico no ano
2- início a temporada(2meses) com regenerativo/mobilidade pode ser treinos com carga média (50-65% da carga Max) explorando tempo de tensão com execuções lentas ou fazendo normal com altas repetições.
3- ainda na fase acima , fazer sempre com grande amplitude os movimentos e forçar a contração dos músculos que você tem mais dificuldade pra criar vínculo mente-corpo daquela região para utilizar mais facilmente nas fases seguintes e fazer os movimentos com o músculo contraído antes de começar os movimentos ajuda a usar fibras que com outras cargas não conseguiria ou por peso ou por sua falta de treino de coordenação
4 séries de alongamentos após o treino nessa fase é essencial
5 nós 2 meses seguintes treino de força séries curtas 6-8 reps e cargas altas e crescentes , respeitando o peso de cada grupo muscular não adianta querer ganhar força no posterior de ombros fazendo com halteres de 30kg
6 inicie a fase de hipertrofia entre off season , fase de estabilização e pre contest ! Essa fase detalharei em outro post ! Mas dividiria com 3 meses de bulking(ganho de massa ), 1-2 meses de manutenção dos ganhos e 3 a 4 meses de cutting pra quem tem o percentual controlado (max12%)

Feeling fresh and healthy on top of being highly motivated. Haven’t missed a single cardio session (6x/week 30mins) and sticking to the diet pretty much 100% 🤓

2019 is in the BOOKS ! Post contest, Sunday morning pics 178lbs, still ripped. We got 8lbs more than last year, our goal was 10 more, it's ok lol. We were able to improve legs which was the main priority, calves, pecs, and back. Size wise and condition wise, the overall physique was much better. We still are struggling with the separation in the legs. Sometimes it takes years to bring some. It took me 9 years of training and the 5th year of competing before bringing deep separations in mine. Anyway ! Monday morning, Felipe came to see me for his check up. I already did his new diet, training and so on. And we start NOW getting ready for next year. We're aiming on staying lean and putting quality size in this post contest rebound. We're both excited !! Le chapitre 2019 est maintenant clos ! Après le concours, photos de dimanche matin à 178 livres, encore écorché. Nous avons gagnés 8 lbs de plus que l'année dernière, notre objectif était de 10 de plus, ça me va lol. Nous avons pu améliorer les jambes, priorité principale, mollets, pectoraux et dos. Niveau masse et condition physique, le physique était globalement beaucoup mieux. Nous avons toujours du mal avec la séparation dans les jambes. Parfois, il faut des années pour en avoir. Olá meus queridos! Vamos falar de cuidados pós contest!
Muitos cometem alguns erros sobretudo principiantes e coachs " antifisiologistas" , e assim, muitos acabam dando um crash absurdo no físico, e ou não voltam a competir mais na vida e até fica depressivo, ou volta a custa de muito tempo perdido e o pior alguns colocam até a vida em risco !! Vamos entender na última semana pré competição a chamada Peak week , nos burlamos as respostas fisiológicas em prol de tirar o máximo de água embaixo da pele e encher o músculo para ter a melhor aparência no palco. Entretanto essas manobras alteram hormônios que vão render a se super regular na semana seguinte , o famoso cobrar a conta!
Então teremos ADH(hormônio anti diurético) , peptídeo natriuretico atrial, aldosterona, insulina todos alterados. Quando ele vai se regular ele encontra um sujeito q vinha no ápice da performance tomando termogênico tireoidianos , fazendo dois cardios, bebendo litros de água, talvez diuréticos (naturais ou não) , com glicogênio lá embaixo... Enfim , e quando eles vão se regular encontram um corpo que parou todos esses processos de vez e aí vem o crash metabólico e uma imensa retenção e edema e dependendo do caso indo parar no hospital! Então como evitar!!!??? 1- pode fazer sua refeição livre, mas na semana volte pra dieta anterior a sua mais restrita e mantenha pelo menos uma semana

2- reduza tudo que você vinha usando de manipulados e suplementos, mas não corte de vez faça corte gradativos semanalmente !
3 mantenha o aporte hídrico alto seu corpo vai tender a reter água

4 treine regenerativo alivie suas articulações se planeje pra próxima fase mas mantenha-se saudável , isso é seu estilo de vida e não uma dieta e treino pra competir

5 mantenha seus aeróbicos pelo menos 50%deles nessa semana e se possível pra o resto do ano , pois construir o músculo tbm precisa de uma célula que respire bem

So Sportsfreunde das Wochenende ist vorbei somit steht der Montag wieder an 🙌 für mich bedeutet das den offiziellen Start meiner Aufbauphase, welche clean und kontrolliert ablaufen soll ☝️ Ich habe jetzt natürlich nach dem Cheatday ordentlich Wasser gezogen 😂 das wird aber die woche wieder weitestgehend raus gehen👏

Ich bin sehr motiviert und werde neue Techniken im Training ausprobieren welche diese sein werden werdet ihr erfahren😬

Heute starte ich mit einem Oberkörpertraining und morgen mit den Beinen🙌 ein klassischer zweier Split 🙈

Offseason posing vid 3 weeks post contest after a solid arm workout at NC Ironworks. 275 lbs, going to get comfortable at this weight for 3 or so more weeks, keep the cardio rolling for health and endurance in the gym, then come late October/1st of Nov the real reverse dieting and mass gain ensues. Après 3 jours plus ou moins relax sur la diète il est temps de reprendre les bonnes vieilles habitudes ! Je pourrais encore vous bombarder de photos où je suis sec à crevay mais la réalité est là, mon corps a vite refait ses réserves, plein et flotteux 😂 C'était tout de même nécessaire pour relancer la machine, dans 3 mois je dois être encore plus au top et pour progresser il faut de l'énergie 💪 #bodybuilding #muscles #posing #doublebiceps #oldschool #vacuum #postcontest #veins #musclay
