Home made walnut milk 🥛
I started making my own plant-based milks since normally the milks we find in supermarkets are more water than the nut you want, example: like 2 almonds, 4 cups of water and preservatives.
It’s so easy to do, let the walnuts in water for 8-24 hours to eliminate the anti nutrients & active the good ones, also It makes it easier for our digestive system to digest. Later mix 1 cup of walnuts & 4-3 cup of water( it depends on how creamy you want the milk), use a strainer & and it’s all. You can use this recipe with any nut you want. Pasta mit Süßkartoffel-Kokos-Soße, gerösteten Kichererbsen und Pinienkernen 😍
Für die Soße hab ich 1 Süßkartoffel geschält, gewürfelt und in Wasser gekocht. Als die Süßkartoffelwürfel gar waren, hab ich den Großteil des Wassers abgegossen und sie mit einer halben (oder einen ganzen kleinen) Dose Kokosmilch, etwas frischer Petersilie, etwas Zitronensaft, Salz und Clean Eating Allrounder von @justspices püriert.
Währenddessen hab ich die Sojabohnen Pasta von @edamamafoods gegart und in einer Pfanne in etwas Öl ein halbes Glas Kichererbsen und Pinienkerne angeröstet und auch diese mit Clean Eating Allrounder gewürzt. Zum Schluss noch frischen Basilikum und Bowl Topping von@justspices drüber, fertig. Schnell, einfach, gesund, lecker 😀

Manchmal hilft es uns, unsere Probleme, unseren Ballast laut auszusprechen und/oder aufzuschreiben, damit sie uns nicht so sehr belasten, dass sie uns krank machen und wir uns Verhaltensmuster angewöhnen, aus denen wir ohne Hilfe nicht wieder herauskommen.
"Wenn du deinen Müll nicht rausbringst und an den Bürgersteig stellst, stinkt dein Haus zum Himmel. Und der Gestank nach Verrottetem verleitet dich immer wieder, von dem, was ihn verursacht, Gebrauch zu machen." (aus "Finding Ultra" von Rich Roll)

What a vicious cycle?! I’ve been there before. It’s Sunday night and you’re ordering a large pizza and cinnamon bites because starting tomorrow — NO MORE of “that” kind of food.. So, now you are fearful of food and already stressing out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Monday morning you walk into the office and someone brought donuts and breakfast tacos…. So.. “maybe I’ll just start next Monday”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There’s 71 days left this year. 71 days till a new year. 71 days till a new decade. I don’t know about you, but this decade kicked. My. Butt.
I graduated high school, went to school for a career I hated, suffered trauma, fell in love, had my heart broken, got married, had three beautiful babies, lost one before I could even pick a name, struggled tremendously with my health, almost had my family shattered, and so much more... It’s been filled with so much growth, love, and heartache. And there’s 71 days left of it.
I’m choosing to spend them showing my strength, choosing to be empowered, and making changes that have been a long time coming. I’m resolving to make them the absolute healthiest 71 days of this decade. And not just with what I put on my plate, but the thoughts I allow to enter my consciousness, and the way I nourish my soul.
Who’s with me?? I have the last groups of the finally free workshop starting this week and I would LOVE to have you!

I know motivation is a struggle for so many people especially with the change of seasons😒. So how do I stay motivated? (Several of you have asked me this over the years.) For starters, it's harder for me to leave the gym than it is to go the gym. As you may know, I battled with exercise addiction throughout my 20's. But the main reason I feel motivated to get up and workout everyday is because it's my form of therapy.

Honestly, without the gym I might have considered going on anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds. I have felt both creep in throughout my life but I truly believe I've been able to avoid the prescription drug 💊 route because of my dedication at the gym. Having an affordable gym like @chuzefitness is great because I can make up daily workout routines on my own, join group classes, or just relax on the hydro massage bed. Oh Monday! Who else needs an extra day to unwind, recharge, rest? ✋ Whilst that might not be possible, a good stretch can work wonders. Whether you're at work today, on half term with the kids, or looking after a baby and toddler, try to find 5, 3 or even 1 minute to stretch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I told my mom the other day "I have never been happier in my life". She wanted to know how that was possible.
Since I'm 33, but I'm not "settled down". I'm not married,
And I don't have kids either.
If you asked me 5 years ago what my "goals" were in life
I would say that for sure 5 years later I would be settled down, married and have kids.
And THEN I would really be happy.
5 years ago, I was falling apart at the seams.
But I had it all together on the outside.
I had a boyfriend, and we were planning on getting married.
My happiness actually hinged on us getting married, so I really really needed
For him to hurry up and propose already.
I had a full time job, with a full time salary, but I dreaded going to work every morning.
But I thought "that's just how it is. No one truly loves their job" so I stuck with it.
In hopes that one day, that full time salary would be able to finance the things that really made me happy.
I kept telling myself that I only needed a few little pieces to fall into place, and THEN
I would be happy.
Until one day, instead of it all falling into place, it all crumbled down.
My boyfriend and I broke up, and then I really really wasn't happy.
I had nothing else I was "working towards", as silly as that sounds now.
But it's because all my focus was on getting married,
Having kids, and checking all that off my list,
So I could finally get around to focusing on my happiness.
But life doesn't work that way. I learned that the hard way...
But it was a lesson I needed to learn.
That in life, our desires, our passions,
What we care about, and our needs are the MOST important focus,
And that everything else(relationships, partnerships, jobs, etc) all stem from that.
Now, I can honestly say "I've never been happier in life", Because I'm focusing on me.

Do you have half term this week or is yours the week after? 💥 Either way, are you ready? Not with activities for the kids... are you ready for you? Have you thought about how you are going to look after your wellbeing in a week when you're juggling kids, work, house and all the other life admin?

Finding balance is ridiculously difficult when we're in the eye of the storm. 🌪Having a plan, thinking ahead; it only takes a moment, but can be the difference between survival and overwhelm. Schedule in that time for you. To take a breath, to do something for YOU. ⚡

If half term means working evenings to catch up, plan which evenings so it is there, scheduled and you don't feel resentful when it happens. On the other evenings, what else can you do for you? One night a bath? 🛀 Another an early night?🛌 What does your self-care look like in the school holidays? Binge watching Motherland? (Yep - that's our plan!)🙌

Plan it. Plans can change, but at least you've put yourself on the agenda. You're not an afterthought.🌟💖 And remember the Nourish app is always there for you - whether you've got 1 minute or 20 minutes, there's something in there to help you lift the spirits, find more connection, compassion & what I'm sure we'll all be needing - a little bit more calm. 🙏

Day 20 of #socialmumsoct @socialmums #amomentofcalm and day 2 of my (unplanned) salt series.

I escaped for a bath this morning and a moment of calm (before the kids came in and demanded to be splashed) and I put some Epsom salts in. There is little scientific evidence of transdermal absorption of this form of magnesium but in my experience, putting a large amount (3 or 4 handfuls) in a bath makes a remarkable difference to my relaxation. If I have an epsom salt bath before bed It’s like every part of my body just resigns itself and succumbs to deep, sound sleep. Give it a try. You can get large amounts of Epsom salts online and often in zero waste shops. Don’t bother with the piddly little pots you can get in Boots.

Looking into the mirror was something I hated to do when I was going through my illness into recovery. I didn’t recognize myself. Who was this person staring back at me?

That feeling really connected me to this picture again because it is exactly how I felt and I’m sure - we all feel sometimes.
.
It’s so easy to let the daily grind get away from us and before we know it, another year has passed. How quickly time passes us by!!
.
So how can we prevent ourselves from getting too out of balance and wrapped up in the busy-ness of life?
.
Here is how I’ve been doing it- carving out 15 min for daily self care on my calendar! Whether it be taking a walk, mindfulness through deep breathing, prayer, or even just sitting outside in some grass looking up at the sky! .
Give it a try! See how adding a daily reminder on your calendar can help YOU take a “time out” for your stress levels and overall health to get back to centering YOU!

Here is how I’ve been doing it- carving out 15 min for daily self care on my calendar! Whether it be taking a walk, mindfulness through deep breathing, prayer, or even just sitting outside in some grass looking up at the sky! .

✨Self Care Sunday✨ I think we all deserve to treat ourselves in some way & Sunday seems to be the perfect time just before the new week begins. Find something that makes you feel happy and is just for you. I’ve heard so many people talk about self care lately so I’ve decided to try and do one thing per week that is going to be positive for me and my body. Whether it be popping in a hair mask, going for a walk or taking the time out for a couple of hours to catch up with a friend. You have one life so make sure you are looking after yourself!

We hear the words ‘health’, ‘wellness’ and ‘transformation’ so often that we forget the true significance that is behind them.

When is the last time you felt physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy?

When is the last time you experienced true physical, mental, and spiritual growth and transformation?

It’s time that we start looking at food as not only medicine, but something that is capable of transforming us into the absolute best version of ourselves, in all areas of our lives.

Using food as medicine means that WE as conscious human beings have the power to heal our chronic conditions with food.

So, how do we start that process of using food as a modality to heal ourselves from within?

One: We get honest about our current relationship with food. What does a typical day look like for you in terms of meals? You can do this by keeping a log for one week of all your meals and beverages (alcoholic + non-alcoholic). Two: We get honest about realistic changes we can make to improve our relationship with food. What’s not realistic or sustainable is a complete 180 degree overhaul on our lifestyle choices in a short span of time. Instead, we need to ask ourselves, what are we comfortable with changing, eliminating or adding into our diets?

Three: We begin to lay a healthy foundation using food as our base. When the physical vessel and body that we walk through life with doesn’t feel well, then everything else will feel off - our mind and mental well-being, our connection to others, our life purpose, etc.

And of course, this takes commitment. Wanting to feel better is one thing, but being committed to the patience and time it takes for our bodies to feel better is another. Anxiety, acne, chronic constipation, poor quality sleep… that didn’t just happen overnight, and neither will the healing.

Muchas veces cuando salimos a dar un paseo queremos comer sano pero nos limitamos pensando en que debemos comer en algún lugar que posiblemente no hayan opciones saludables, si me llevo meriendas tiene que ser algo como papitas o galletas para que no se dañen y que no hay nada que podamos llevarnos que nos alimente bien lo cual para mi, es incorrecto. Este fin de semana tome un pequeño descanso y me fui con mis jevas a un mini trip y pensamos en que podíamos comer nutritivo y sencillo. Mis amigas están conscientes de la importancia de alimentarse sabiamente, estoy feliz por ellas y su apoyo 💛 Así que decidimos hacer unos burritos to go de ensalada de granos, refrito y ensalada de espinaca con zanahoria rallada, por el lao’ mi vegan dressing que no puede faltar 🌿 También para picar nos llevamos lo que sobro de la ensalada de granos con aguacate y unas frutitas que no están en las fotos. 💚(DESLIZA)💚
Todo fue sumamente sencillo, económico, nutritivo y fácil para cargar en una loncherita fría y ready. Los límites los pones tu y creo que para quien quiere, no tiene límites💪🏽 •

Just want to be fully authentic and real about this.....How many people have been in dark place or are still in dark place? 🙋🏻‍♂️⁣

We go through so many rough and tough times in our life’s and there are times where we can’t just seem to shake things off. These rough and tough times are different for everybody, and the one that stood out in my life was feeling like I was always rejected and that I was never good enough. It’s a huge struggle when you want things to go the way you expect, and then it doesn’t even happen, especially for a long long time. My career, my relationships, my life, my faith, everything was affected tremendously, and I just couldn’t pull myself out of it, and it felt like I was drowning in my own life. Anxiety and depression hit me like a semi-truck and I literally was not living life at all. Can you imagine living life a way of expressing yourself in a certain way, but not living it authentically?⁣

To be fully honest and transparent, I had some of those feelings coming into this year. I was living in a funk! I was living an inauthentic life within my inner self and I had to take a stand. I started realizing doing self-development on an “inner-personal” level was really important and I realized that this whole feeling of “being rejected and I’m not good enough” was a complete story and that has actually never happened. It’s been “my act” that started when I was 5 years old. ⁣

See, I realized that a lot of people don’t want to spend the time to help themselves. Self-love and self-expression are really important life factors to help one’s growth. It’s really tough to open up about this, and it’s not easy, however, I don’t know who needed to hear this today, as it was weighing on my chest to say something about it. If you are feeling like you are in a dark place and have this black cloud on top of you or even following you, I’d love to open up possibilities right now and I’d love to talk with you. Just remember, you are not in this alone! 🙏💯⁣

Trauma and chronic stress responses are just the ways that we cope with internal dysregulation...some of these are shamed and others highly applauded and reinforced by our culture.
.
There’s not a single thing on the list that isn’t seen as somewhat of a strength in our society. Following in those steps will likely ensure “success” and being seen as an accomplished human. What we rarely ask is...at what cost? And has this coping mechanism been adopted to disconnect from pain we may have experienced?
.
We all talk about drugs, alcohol, violence, adrenaline-seeking behaviors, self-harming etc. as trauma responses, rarely do we consider the unconventional ways we cut ourselves off from traumatic experiences by engaging in prosocial behaviors.
.
It looks like that person who’s “got it all together”, who does everything for everyone except themselves, who’s a perfectionist in all areas of their lives, the one that counts calories and wakes up at 5 in the morning to get to the gym, while functioning off just 4 hours of sleep...without ever asking- what’s going on here? Yes, this is what our hustle culture applauds.
.
The thing is, the applause that these individuals receive means they may never fully understand how pain is being hidden through overachievement, they simply feel they’re being resilient, making the best of a difficult situation.
.
While the mind rationalizes, the body takes a different approach...and it will send messages ranging from headaches, digestive problems, heart palpitations, to full on diagnosable illnesses...it will let you know that things are off.
.
So, before we start applauding someone’s busyness, can we take a moment to understand that we are also possibly applauding and reinforcing a trauma response and a systematically flawed system?
.

We don’t have to fix, sometimes we just have to listen.

I am the fixer in my family. While this has always been my personal badge of honor, it also means that I have highly invalidated many feelings. My way of helping is to make everything better, to smooth it over and move along. .
It’s what I do to myself as well, sometimes not allowing myself to feel the feelings, bypassing the much needed time to process.
.
Yes, this is a therapist speaking (which doesn’t make me an authority or any better at life) acknowledging that feeling things and allowing others to feel is tough...but so needed!

Sometimes, we don’t need or aren’t ready for any tools, hacks, tips, because we are so emotionally drained that we need to sit and let the feelings come and go and come as go. First we need to feel seen, heard, and understood.

There is plenty of time for that problem solving part, what we miss is the need is to make space for and emphasize kindness during that feeling part.

We don’t have to fix, sometimes we just have to listen.

I am the fixer in my family. While this has always been my personal badge of honor, it also means that I have highly invalidated many feelings. My way of helping is to make everything better, to smooth it over and move along. .
It’s what I do to myself as well, sometimes not allowing myself to feel the feelings, bypassing the much needed time to process.
.
Yes, this is a therapist speaking (which doesn’t make me an authority or any better at life) acknowledging that feeling things and allowing others to feel is tough...but so needed!

All eating is inherently emotional.
.
Emotions and feelings about our food are intrinsically tied to the eating process. It’s how we know which foods we enjoy, which ones don’t sit well, and the ones we want when we need some comfort (insert sugar, carbs, fats).
.
For many of us, we may not have developed proper coping mechanism to manage stress, emotions, trauma, etc. leaving food as the only available soother.
.
There is so much shame attached to emotional eating, we are bad if we engage in these behaviors. The reality is that for many it has served a purpose: survival. If we try to “defeat” “stop” “conquer” through guilt and shame, which creates a stress response in our bodies and may create another cycle where we eat to cope with the shame...well, we are just adding to the already difficult situation.

Instead, we can provide kindness, support, and seek ways to build other coping mechanisms. I’ll be sharing some of these in the following days.

It’s all allowed to change! Yup, not a single thing in our lives will ever stay the same-and yet we have this idea that we’re “supposed” fight/combat the nature of life. Somehow, we should remain the same weight, we should go out of our way to maintain our physical youth, we should ensure that friendships and romantic relationships remain the same. Logically speaking, we know it’s not possible...and yet we still feel the pressure.
.
Change can be scary, but it is also liberating. The idea that we have the potential to change the things and ideas that no longer suit us. Change doesn’t need to be feared, it can embraced and used to empower.
.
Are you avoiding change in an area of your life?

Hold space for what is, just for a few moments...”be” rather than “do”. Be a human being.

We don’t have to fix everything. In fact, I’m sure that when we seek out help what we want is to be heard, seen, acknowledged-not told what to do.
.
There is so much power in holding space for ourselves and others, a sense of subtle peace and calm in the midst of all the craziness. When we hold space we provide the deepest respect and honor.

How do you hold space for yourself or others?
