Hey there! The Joint By Joint approach should be a staple in your training arsenal. When looking at the body, there are very common themes among most individuals. The first is that most people lack stability and motor control at certain joints such as the foot, knee, lumbar spine, and scapula-thoracic joint. This in turn leads to issues further up the kinetic chain, in turn causing a lack of mobility in the ankle, hip, thoracic spine, and shoulder. Eating and exercise go hand in hand. When and what you eat can be important to how you feel when you exercise, whether it's a casual workout or training for a competition. .
If you exercise in the morning, get up early enough to finish breakfast at least one hour before your workout. Be well-fueled going into a workout. Eating or drinking carbohydrates before exercise can improve workout performance and may allow you to work out for a longer duration or higher intensity. .
Good pre-workout food choices include:
• A banana
• An apple
• Oatmeal topped with fruit • Greek yogurt topped with granola • A smoothie made with fruit and either yogurt or milk
.
To help your muscles recover and to replace their glycogen stores, eat a meal that contains both carbohydrates and protein within two hours of your exercise session if possible. .
Good post-workout food choices include:
• Grilled chicken with roasted vegetable
• Grilled chicken with black beans, brown rice or quinoa
• Oatmeal, whey protein and a banana • Cottage cheese and fruits
• Greek yogurt, berries and granola
• Protein shake and banana

Really want to light up your core?  Train partially loaded or offset exercises.  Here’s how to do it.  Pick a traditional compound movement (bench,squat, deadlift, overhead press) and use a single dumbbell to complete the movement rather than a barbell or 2 dumbbells.  This will force you to engage in the core and keep a neutral spine.  Here I have to fight to keep my shoulders even and my core activated throughout the entire movement.  If I disengage in my core my spine is going to go into lateral flexion which makes for greater risk of injury when loaded with weight.

I used to let other people's opinions affect me to the point I ended up not thinking for myself. When I was trying to decide what to do with my life, I wasn't given a choice. Post secondary was mandatory. I looked into a bachelor of science, only to be ask "what are you going to do with that?". So I decided to be more specific and looked into kinesiology, But was then questioned.. "well, how will that make you money?". Massage? "That's too hard on your body, you won't be working after 7 years". Being exposed to nursing from my families career choice, I figured that was a safe bet. 6 months after grad, I broke my elbow and was off for 6 weeks. That was my first taste of how miserable I had been at work. Only a mere year 1.5 years out of college, I took my first stress leave. I will say it wasn't specifically work, mental health issues were affecting me at the time. Though, that was also a direct correlation to my belief of caring what others thought.

If you couldn't tell, the human body is fascinating to me. Eventually, my stress leave lead to yoga training, which lead to personal growth, that lead to a love of movement, which lead to an increase in confidence, that allowed me to start thinking for myself and taking others opinions with a grain of salt, which allowed me to try new things and fall in love with pole, that lead me to improving muscle strength, which lead to a love of lifting and finally got me here to a career in fitness. I'm still figuring out my path, my niche. Finding what truly drives me, deep down. And I've been enjoying my life so much more now that I'm happy for ME, not anyone else.

Happy #MobilityMonday! This is a full-body mobility routine that’s perfect to do before a workout or to do on its own. .
Keep in mind that this video is sped up. Make sure you move with control and purpose when going through this routine — especially the hip and shoulders CARs (controlled articular rotations).

It’s not a race to get through these. Move slowly to identify where the sticking points are for you, specifically.  If you hurry and don’t pay close attention, you’re not going to get as much out of these as you could.

No need to ☠️crush☠️ clients early on in order to see results. One of the reasons full body workouts are best for most clients early on, because body part splits may be too much volume for them.

The Apollo astronauts didn’t have “space suits”, they wore an EMU that consisted of a PSA and a PLSS. That’s an Extravehicular Mobility Unit made up of a Pressure Suit Assembly and a Personal Life Support System. The PLSS was the ‘backpack’ that you see in the pictures. The PSAs used for Apollo 7-14 were known as A7L suits and an upgraded version, the A7LB, was used for Apollo 15 & 16. These suits were complicated, multilayered pieces of equipment. The suits started off with a TSLA, a Torso Limb Suit Assembly. On top of that (for the moonwalkers) was a ITMG, or Integrated Thermal Micrometeoroid Garment. This garment was made of 13 separate layers of materials like rubber coated nylon, mylar, dacron, Kapton etc. When the film from Apollo 11 was developed, at the Lunar Receiving Lab, there was a mad rush to get images to the waiting media. Someone declared that it would be a good idea to find a picture of ‘the first man…’ so everyone scrambled to find pictures of Armstrong. But they weren’t easy to find. Periodization training for peak running performance 🏃🏼‍♀️when planning our training programs we often only focus on the mesocycle training block (the main 10-20 weeks of a running program) and neglect to consider the macrocycle training block (the full calendar year plan). All of my training has intent and purpose, from full-out marathon training logging 50 mile weeks or in my "off-season" focusing on strength and power. I consider the "off season" training as even more important than the running focused season for optimizing performance and improvement. It also provides a mental and physical break from constantly pounding the pavement. I still average 20 mile weeks, with long runs of 8-10 miles and 1 speed workout/week, but my main focus is strength and power to develop different physiological abilities. Consistently too little strength training or too much mileage can neglect improvement and often present overuse injuries. Balance is strength. Never forget that. If you can't stand on a single leg, do a walking lunge, or properly move through a full range of motion of any exercise, you have holes in your structure that will eventually lead to serious injury.

Yes, your body will compensate for the time being, because it will always do what you tell it to do even though it's wrong, but soon it will crumble into something worse. If you have strong balance (which also means you have a strong core) you will be able to properly build your strength that will minimize the chances of you being injuried. i feel like the growth i’ve experienced in this past year has been exponential. 📈 i’ve gone through heartbreak, developed new skills, become a certified personal trainer #NASM, i’ve traveled 🧳 many times to multiple countries, i’ve grown tremendously in my voice 💙 and my identity while also loosening my grips on my ego (higher consciousness!✨💜) 23 has been an incredible homecoming for me and i’m so happy to continue on this journey with an open heart ♥️ thank you all so much for helping me grow and evolve. every interaction has brought me to the place i am now. right where i’m supposed to be. thank you. namaste.⁣ 🙏

Made by Moi! Tropical Protein Bowls are the perfect summer breakfast or post workout snack. I say snack because its important to still plan on eating a balanced diet throughout the day making sure you have meals with macronutrients; fat, protein, carbs along with micronutrients; vitamins and minerals. 
I’ve tried a few different protein powders over the years, a couple that work well for myself are isolated whey and plant protein, rice based. What’s been your discovery with protein powders? #fitfood

5’8 *around 137 lbs 17% body fat! Fitness is a journey and times can feel like a real struggle wether your working towards a goal or even maintaining. Having been a model for 16 years I’ve literally been all sizes! This has honestly been my healthiest moment yet where I found balance fueling my mind and body to accomplish things I love in life. Im still working towards goals like anyone else and have ups and downs, trust meeee! Goals are so important to have just make sure they’re realistic and right for your you. If you’re having a tough time don’t give up and just remember each new day is a gift and  you have the opportunity like anyone else to better yourself. #fitnessmotivation

Make sure to start the week off right and SET YOUR GOALS ! I honestly find that if I don’t set goals for the week, I am extremely unproductive! ⁣

If you aren’t setting goals, then you aren’t constantly growing. It is so important as humans that we don’t stay stagnant in the same routine all the time. Even though you may be productive the way you are right now, CHALLENGE yourself. ⁣

Recently I have been challenging myself through meditation and my personal trainer course! I also have been working really hard to meal prep so I am staying on top of my nutrition ☺️ ⁣

Well summit was a FREAKING BLAST! And now we’re all back to reality. I posted this pic for 2 reasons.
First: because it’s fun and a couple people who I absolutely adore (@daniellenatoni & @lovesizeme ) are dropping it like it’s hot with me!
Second: because of that word “commit.”
As I’m back home I’m reminded about what I’m committed to and I’m more inspired to move forward than ever. So I’m diving back into my workouts, my nutrition, my NASM studies, my coaching, my planning... etc.. Stay committed y’all!
