There are exactly 3 weeks left in the year... the new year and new decade is almost here!

Most people have put off their goal until the new year. Why?

Isn’t that silly?

So you’re prolonging your goals and your health.... for what?

It makes more sense to just start NOW. Don’t you want to go into the new year on a positive note already working on yourself?

As someone who has worked in gyms, I’ve seen first hand how dead it gets in December and how busy it is in January. But come February, it’s back to a ghost town.

Why?

Because those people who started in the new year brought all their BAD HABITS with them in the new year! 🙅🏻‍♀️ I know you don’t want to be that person.

So start NOW. Make that change now and roll into the new year already a changing person!

Today, I am struggling. I’m confused and stressed about feeding my baby. We have started introducing real food to Harper and I can’t help but think I am fucking up. But I am persevering and pushing through the stress because she needs me.⁣

The hardest thing about being a mom is not knowing if you’re doing it right. I know, I know, there’s no book or “how to” video. I know every mom probably feels this way at some point. But it sucks. And I just wanted to vent that.⁣

Taking care of my body feels like a guilty pleasure now that I'm a mom.
🔹I try to not feel this way, and take the time despite thinking "what a LUXURY" everytime I wash my hair or trim my nails.
🔹One reason I press on is because it does feel SO NICE to do a face mask or *gasp* shave above the knee! (I know, I'm wild)
🔹Soaking in a bath for a few minutes reminds me that I exist away from tiny humans. However, another reason is that I want my children to believe that they are allowed to and SHOULD take care of themselves, no matter in what stage of life they are.
🔹So, I've made it a priority on Wednesday night to do several things that might be considered "extra" or "unnecessary", but that really do make a difference. It's my own little home spa night, and I guard the occasion carefully.

Your content marketing plan doesn’t need to be complicated.

Here are some questions to ask as you consider what to talk about:
✔️What are your messaging or branding pillars? What mountains do you put a flag down on? Where do you take a stand? What lights you up every time you share about it? .
.
✔️What are some of the myths or misconceptions around the things you share about that you want to expose and bring to light? .
.
✔️What are your core teachings that you circle back to all the time?

Take all of that and submit it to God. Spend some time with Him around it as you map out a content plan for your online spaces.

And be brave enough to share what He tells you to share when He tells you to share it.

Not to get likes.
Not to get follows.
Not to get click-throughs.

Just share what He is nudging you to share because He’s asking you to.

You never know why He may be leading you in that direction, but trust that He has your good AND your future customer’s good in mind when you do it.

I love my body. At least I thought I was loving my body; I told myself I wanted to be more healthy to take care of my body. But at the center of my wanting to be healthy, was just me wanting my body to be smaller and stronger.🤦 Which yes is great for my body, but not a healthy mindset to have!

Day 10 of #25DaysofMomcare ... Spend time with a friend. I am talking face time, in person with a friend. For me this is one of the biggest ways I practice selfcare. My #mommafriends mean the world to me because they just get me. I will meet up for coffee, invite you over for a meal, workout together, chat at our kids’ activities, go for a Moms night out...Any way I can get time in with quality friends I am game for it and I always feel 100% better after. Who would you like to get some face-to-face time with over the holidays?

It's OK. You're in good company. Cause Jesus could not do "many mighty works" in his hometown. Cause, "Isn't that just Joseph and Mary's boy down there at the synagogue?" ⁠⠀

They were too familiar - and He couldn't help them the same as He could people that didn't know him.⁠⠀

I love working out. I always have.

But after having Jalen, exercise has become even more meaningful to me.

It’s one of the things I do for myself. Sometimes I just need a break from mommy duties. Sometimes I’m feeling tired or lazy. And sometimes I need to just clear my mind. Exercise does all that for me.

Moms, I think exercise is one of the most important things you can do for yourself AND for your family.

You’re moving your body instead of just sitting on the couch. You help release those endorphins that help you feel good. You in turn create more energy for yourself and those kids. And you shape your body creating more confidence!

Whether you want to lose weight or just FEEL good again, start exercising.

Do something for yourself today that your future self will thank you for; and that your future kids will thank you for.

Yes, please!! As a coach, last week and this week, I get to test out the new workout program that is coming out in January!! It’s a combination of barre, pilates and cardio interval training!

This is a workout program that is so different from anything else I’ve done but so far I’m LOVIN’ it!! I always finish sweating and feeling more energized! And feeling muscles I never knew existed!! Lol!

Oh Orlando!!!
So I know i live a few hours away but I never get to go to the parks... Well not since high school 🤦

So when we got notice that my parents could watch the baby so we could get away for our anniversary we jumped on it and went for a much needed vacation.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE my daughter and being a mom but sometimes... Girl listen... I gotta be more than a mom!

I doubt im the only one that feels this way. But regardless it was amazing we got to be two little kids again amazed by all the rides and scenery and the imagination of it all.
So I challenge everyone to take part in self care this week. I cant stress enough how important it is. Im a social worker by trade so I have always been big about self care due to the trauma I witness at work. But now as a mom oh man self care is necessary. Without it I don't think I could be a good mom.

Don't feel selfish about this... You need to take care of yourself to be able to care for them.
Also... That last picture is the wall we climbed up which was sooo hard!!!

I’ve done that.

And then as you continuously tell yourself these things, you sink lower and lower & end up victimizing yourself.

Yep, been there!

Change your p e r s p e c t i v e .

Change how you talk to yourself.

It might sound silly but when you’re feeling tired TELL yourself that you are energized. Get up and go for a walk. Move your body. CREATE the energy.

There is power in what we say about ourselves and the thoughts we have about ourselves.

If saying the negative over and over becomes your reality, why not start saying the positive over and over and watch it change your life!

This helps me 100% and I know it will help you too mama! You deserve to feel your best! 💛💛

✔️Not think your time and expertise actually carry that value⁠.

Whatever your reason, the way to know if you're charging at a place that brings you peace is BY your peace and by your FULFILLMENT level.⁠⠀

If you're doing all the work without being fairly compensated but feel completely fulfilled doing it, keep going!⁠⠀

This year has been filled with surprises, some good - some bad. As the founder of @special_needs_siblings, I had to take a step back temporarily to reset and reorganize my life and mind! As a working mother of 5 I began to feel like I was failing my children. ⁣

I left an unhealthy relationship after domestic violence. We struggled with homelessness, unemployment and uncertainty. I tried to make sure the kids didn't feel the pain, but they did. Sometimes the best thing we can do as parents is be transparent. ⁣

I remember a note Jada left me on July 4th that touched me deeply. (Swipe to see) Ending this year we have restarted fresh. I'm happily engaged. I've committed to self care and accepting help from others. ⁣

I took a period of time where I checked out - of sorts. Healing and learning that I can't help others from a broken place. Grateful that I took that time for myself and my family. ⁣

I know I haven't been as active lately, but thankfully we have a group of volunteers who are patient with me. ⁣

I want to encourage you all ... it's okay to feel period... that's not a bad thing... I have felt inadequate, unable, fearful and uncomfortable... but that doesn't have to be the end for you. Battling depression and anxiety. Just keep peeling back those layers. You deserve to be mentally supported and whole ! ⁣

This mama needed her time more than anything else this morning. After another night looking after a sick munckin 🙁 and fighting a cold, getting up was the last thing I wanted to do...

Not the way I had envisioned my Monday Morning. I like it when I jump out of bed and am ready to go... But that was not in the book this morning 🤷‍♀️
.

Crawling back into bed and cry/sleep was more what was going through my mind. I fought those thoughts because I knew that in the end doing that would not change things I have no control over. It would affect how I would go about my day though. .

What I could control was how I wanted to start my day. I did not have energy but I knew how to get it. Mentally, I was not in a positive place but I knew how to shift that 🙏
.

My morning routine is a lot more than just exercising. It changes the way I take on my day. It builds energy, mental strength and it helps me control the way I react to what happens in my life. It proved it again this morning ❤️ .

Took a little stroll with the homies today...
.
Had to stop and take in the cacti 🌵Pretending I’m about to get my massage and facial at a fancy desert spa. Perhaps a nice blow dry? Mama ain’t asking for much.
.
Ok, ok back to reality. But all jokes aside, what are some things you do for YOU?! Self-care is vital, especially for new moms. Here are some things I enjoy that are fairly simple to squeeze into busy days:
.
- Taking walks and getting outside to clear my mind {even for 10 minutes}.
- Coffee breaks with little treats.
- Pulling myself together {especially on the most tiring days}. I always feel better when I put some makeup on.
- Time with girlfriends {very necessary}.
- Reading a good book or watching a favorite show.
- Taking a bath and giving my skin some tlc with a face mask + good skincare routine.
- Some retail therapy {in store or online works, too!}
- Sleeping early {whenever possible}.

📆DAILY SCHEDULE 📆 I’m frequently asked about our daily schedule and I 🧡 learning how other people plan and structure their days so here ya go…a glimpse at my planner. The left column⬅️ is our daily schedule. The middle column is my to do list (arrows assign the task to a certain time spot - I usually write them in but it clutters things up and I wanted the schedule to be more basic for you. 🔎Highlights/Clarifications:
🔹R = Rowan, 1 month shy of 5 yo, E = Eloise, a few weeks shy of 3.5 yo and MV = Maeve, 18 mos. 🔹Currently all 3 kids are in school 9am-1pm on M/W/F and that basically takes the place of Room Time through Lunch on the schedule with everything else remaining the same. 🔹Maeve: naps 1-3:30ish and nights are 7:30 - 6:30ish; she nurses at wakeup and bedtime. 🔹Me Time is 30 minutes of peace and quiet when I drink my coffee, take my vitamins and write in my journal before everyone else is up. It doesn’t always happen but it changes everything when it does so I try to be consistent in that self-care.
🔹Workout is 30 minutes of streaming Beachbody workouts.
🔹Baths happen every 2-3 nights - girls bathe together and Rowan bathes solo. 🔹2 parent bedtime until Maeve goes down (7:30) is our norm. Then 1 parent can handle the bigs until their 7:45/8 bedtime.
🔹Morning Outing is usually in the car: museum, errands, park in another neighborhood, play date, etc.
🔹Afternoon Outing is almost always walkable: our local park, library, grocery, neighbor play date, etc. 🔹Average daily screen time is R & E: 45 mins. Non-school days, 30 mins. School days; MV incidental viewing of 0-5 minutes a day and/or 1-3 musical videos (The Bigs’ reward for cleaning up)
🔹Planner is Day Designer.

Sometimes we don’t know that our energy stores are running low until an 🚨 pops up. A little reminder that we need to find some time to re-charge our batteries. ⁣⁣

Right or wrong, I’m an advocate of screen time cause screen time kept me sane while I published an internationally distributed teen girl magazine FROM MY HOME while I homeschooled my kids.

Sprouts
Disney
and Netflix... They may have not been on my payroll, but dang it if they weren’t a part of my team.

I could have probably added it to my business expenses - cause work DID NOT get done without them.

And I’d also like to give an honorable mention to:
My Little Pony
LEGOS
The Littlest Pet Shop
Hot Wheels
And all the makers of plastic farm animal figures.

Oh... and while I’m at it, I’ll raise a hallelujah for:

We all have things we had hoped to give our children. Things we had or didn’t have in our own childhoods. Or just dreams we hoped to be able to fulfill. ⁣

And then life happens. Maybe we can’t afford stuff, or relationships don’t last or any other number of situations or circumstances that impact our ability to make it happen. ⁣

It’s ok to have feelings about this. It’s hard when our vision doesn’t match reality, but it doesn’t mean we have failed. A good life is still possible.⁣
