Great stress management technique. Add meditation practice, healthy, organic food, regular exercise and good sleep hygiene (sleep has escaped me for 2 nights now). It’s important to practice extra self care when we are out of alignment. Everything else is secondary when we are feeling unwell or out of balance.
Trying to maintain balance when we have an immediate family member living with severe depression and hopelessness, we must protect our own energy. When a loved one refuses help, it can be draining on the family and leave us feeling stressed, and deeply concerned even when we work in the field. We do our best, offer loving support and guidance, and continue to take care of ourselves...body, mind and spirit. Blessed to have my sister to walk on this difficult path. One’s mental health affects the family.

📓In the previous post, we looked at what Imposter Syndrome sounds like when it’s nattering away in our own head; a trail of degradation, determined to find fault + confirm the core belief we have about ourselves

📗Although we talk about Imposter Syndrome usually in the context of education + the corporate environment, this pattern exist beyond the vocational vacuum. If it’s in one area of our life, chances are it shows up in others
——
📕This is due to the underlying elements Imposter Syndrome consists of: a diminished sense of worth + low self esteem. Our core belief saying ‘I’m not good enough’
——
📘Above we can see how Imposter Syndrome may show up in relationship, established or new, be it with partners, friends, family, coworkers + so on. Some aspects that accompany this can sound or look like:
✏️They deserve better than me
✏️They won’t think I’m attractive in person
✏️People will wonder why we’re friends
✏️They must have low self-esteem if they’re with me
✒️We may feel tempted to pretend we’re interested in the same music, hobbies, etc.
✒️We can also find ourselves playing games, or ‘hard to get’

"Not only are flare days painful, exhausting and frustrating - they can also be scary. How long is this going to last for? A day/week/month? Longer? Why is this happening to me? Did I do too much? But I didn’t even do anything?

This is what living with an illness is like when there’s no known treatment or cure and very little understanding of what the condition even is. You’re left to figure these things out on your own, and it takes its toll sometimes.

The uncertainty of my life with ME scares me, I’m not going to lie. The fact I can’t plan anything is frustrating. I am not a ‘go with the flow’ type person, but my ME is forcing me to be one.
•
It’s a strange one, because I definitely can’t be spontaneous yet I feel like I can’t plan either. I need to prep rest, time and energy to have a chance of doing something, but then half the time my body decides it’s not going to work regardless.
•
I don’t know how I’m going to feel when I wake up in the morning. I don’t know how I’ll feel tomorrow or next week. I just have to see how I feel on the day. And sometimes that’s difficult. Not knowing how long a flare will last can be daunting, but I try to remind myself that it isn’t automatically a massive backwards step.

Sometimes it’s just a bad day. And you’re allowed to have those."
