Correlation between testosterone levels and muscle mass:
Researchers could find no significant link between the exercise-induced rise in testosterone levels and gains in muscle mass. Drilling further down into the results, subjects in the study were divided into responders (men who built the most muscle) and non-responders (those who built the least muscle). The hormonal responses of those who made the fastest gains in size and strength were no different than those who made the slowest gains.

More interesting still, the amount of testosterone you have at rest—in healthy young men, at least—doesn’t appear to have much to do with muscle growth either. In fact, the latest science shows that guys who built the most muscle after 12 weeks of weight training weren’t the ones with the highest testosterone levels, but the ones with more androgen receptors.

Why do androgen receptors matter? For testosterone to do all the things we know and love as far as muscle growth is concerned, it needs to interact with muscle tissue. And it does that via androgen receptors. One of the ways androgen receptors respond to a hormone like testosterone is by signaling muscle cells to increase the rate at which new muscle protein is laid down. Over time, this increase in muscle protein synthesis leads to bigger, stronger muscles.

The guys who built the most muscle didn’t have higher testosterone levels, but they did have more androgen receptors in their muscles than subjects who gained the least muscle. This meant their bodies were able to make better use of the testosterone that was available.

Relaxation and stress management  are a huge part of health and something I have been struggling with myself for the past few weeks/months. Now back to reality and time to practice what I preach. I need to find a better balance of enjoying the present while working towards future goals and dreams. Who else can relate? 🙋🏼‍♀️

About a year ago an old friend passed away. As sad as the news was, it wasn’t necessarily very surprising. My friend had encountered a lot of trauma, both in his childhood and beyond. He had been “self-medicating” with alcohol for years and had had a few close calls already. Our friendship, too, had become a victim of his self-medicating. As much as I wanted to help, but there is nothing you can do for someone who doesn’t want help. Or thinks they don’t deserve it.

It breaks my heart to think he felt like that. He was funny. He was witty. He was passionate. He was fiercely protective of the people he loved. He made a kick-ass shepherd’s pie. He was always looking for the double entendre. He was always up for a political debate or philosophical discussion (and boy did he know his stuff). I doubt he knew this is how I viewed him, or at least… not in his heart of hearts. Maybe he felt he was a fraud for making me think this was what he was like.

Do you ever feel like that? Like people must be insane to see you for anything other than the poor excuse for a human being you are?

Let me just tell you that you are worth friendship, love, respect… You are worth the investment of healing. The time, the effort, the cost… you are worth it! Finding ways to deal with the pain can be challenging, but you are worth meeting that challenge head-on!

Don’t try and push the pain down. It may help in the short-term… but that’s no way to build a life full of love, compassion, and happiness. If you need a hand with that, come join us in the Facebook Group (link in the bio). We are all survivors in there, and we are all trying to figure it out!

When you try to explain or prove a point, you might utter negative words as well because you are upset.

Though it's easier said, but it is doable. Try to put yourself in that person's shoes.

Know what I see in this picture today? I see a woman (mostly) nailing a crazy ass jump that she was too afraid to try the first time. 💥 
Know what I saw when I looked at this picture the first time?  Well, if you’re anything like me... someone who’s struggled with having a positive body image forever...
you’ll know that the first thing I saw were the rolls of belly fat spilling over the top of my leggings.

You’ll know that I saw that damn back fat squishing out from under and over  my sports bra. I still don’t know the purpose of back fat anyway. 🙄

I saw that the form on the jump wasn’t “PERFECT”... You know because I should be a total expert now that I’ve tried it a handful of times, right?

Ok inner asshole... STOP!

The way I see it, we have a couple of options:
We could sit around and pick ourselves apart OR
We can do something that fires us up, challenges our minds and bodies and is FUN while bringing the belly rolls and back fat along for their transformation ride!! Who do we turn to for support and what is that experience like? This is often another important goal we work toward in therapy: Identifying positive supports and, when necessary, developing new relationships with people who are able to offer positivity and nurturance. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Because maybe we have a support network, but maybe when we approach for support, they are judgmental or negative. Maybe they minimize our feelings. Maybe they shame us. Maybe it is hard to articulate what they do, but we know we come away from the encounter feeling even worse. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
This is not a judgment toward those people. There are many people who are well-intentioned and may not know how to show up well for our emotional experience (let alone their own emotions). And that’s okay. We are all on a journey. We are all in the learning curve.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Also, sometimes what we may experience from others can be more of the same that we are offering to ourselves...this may or may not be true for you. If it resonates a little bit though, it can be a sobering thought...a sobering thought that we can use to guide us toward more self-acceptance and more self-love. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
And sometimes, we may just need to find more positive, healthy people to engage with during times of distress (and times of joy!).⁠⠀
⁠⠀
So, these interpersonal experiences are simply the billboard we are passing by on the highway of life, pointing us toward our needs and what we might need to do next. Maybe we need to do some healing work and strengthen self-compassion. Maybe the billboard is letting us know that we need to build our discernment about who is able to offer the emotional support we need. Perhaps we are learning we need to develop some new relationships that breath life into our beings. ⁠⠀

My #humpday thoughts and motivation 💪🏼 I think it's amazing that @ikonicfitness shared this post and wanted to repost due to it being a subject very close to my heart 💚

It is very true that skinny doesn't equal happiness ⚠️ food doesn't equal happiness ⚠️ I do not think I can word it better then it has been so I would ask people to read, understand and even spread awareness 🙌 
Eating disorders are an exstemely serious topic that are suffered by many yet discussed by few 🙁 they not only affect your physical and mental health but also the lives of the  loved ones around you ‼

I feel that it is important to support anyone in this situation and let anyone who is suffering alone  know there are people out there willing to listen and assist you in anyway possible 💚 
It's never a case of pull you big girl pants up and eat or stop eating 🙅‍♀️ it is an illness that needs understanding, patience and support to overcome 🙏🙏 #cassintraining #awearness

👉🏼Lack of respect for this athletic event, which is birth. I mean, we hold more space for an athlete to recover from a marathon or soccer game then we do for women to recover from birth. Maternity leave is an issue in the US and how it’s 2019 and we still only have 6 weeks baffles me.⁠
👉🏼Telling women they should work to get their “pre-baby body” back. It’s never coming back, but you can rebuild stronger. There is no shame in having your body transformed by the sheer fact that an entire human grew in it.⁠
👉🏼Perpetuating the myth that motherhood is meant to exhaust you and that your symptoms are because you’re a mom. Look, motherhood IS exhausting. But if you have symptom, dismissing you as a mom is not the answer.⁠
👉🏼That you were ever meant to mother alone. Truth is, we need a tribe and most of us don’t have it. If you feel like you’re failing because you’re trying to do it all, that’s normal. You feel the fracture of what should be and what is and you’re bearing the weight of it.⁠

I was recently worried about some work which was supposed to come but it was delayed or cancelled. It has happened many times in the past that I am out of work and my hopes get shattered every single time. It can get pretty depressing. .

My brother once uttered these words to me - 'Kal ka rizq, Kal hi milega'. It made so much sense and till date I recollect these words when ever I face any financial situation. .

If something is not meant for you today, you won't get it. Just by getting worried or stressing out, it won't come earlier. So you just have to be patient, have faith and work on yourself. You will get your reward when it's due.

With a platform like Instagram where the glitz and the glam is often required to beautify and entice the global networking community it seems that a reason to jump, get involved and celebrate everyday is a must. Most fitness and wellness accounts promoting health, self worth, mindfulness and physical accomplishments will again accentuate the perfect lifestyle, way to be, way to act, what to adjust and strive for. Now whilst I’m a big believer that positive visuals, smart coms, and visionary influence will help motivate people more than not to take actions and make a difference for themselves, their loved ones or indeed have an impact on a bigger scale, I feel that often it can be perceived as overwhelming, overbearing and unrealistic for a large amount of people. So maybe the way to get around it would be to look at something of interest and put it into your own context with the understanding that the only person responsable for it’s interpretation is you. Do not load on that pressure, get what you need out of a post, keep what’s accessible and relevant to you and let go of the rest for it will not serve the right purpose. The best things I did were: buying a bunch of self help books and read daily, daily write a review of the day and seeing a life coach regularly. I still make regular appointments with my life coach, it just adds so much more value into my life. ⁣
