Well, I was curious too so I’ve spent the last few weeks researching and learning everything I can about CBD and the endocannabinlid system 🤓

When it comes to be extensive list of benefits of CBD, these claims stem from the fact that CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the body. My video goes in depth into what the endocannabinoid system is and how it functions, but in short, it is a system in the body designed to maintain balance.

It is the largest neurotransmitter system in the body and is involved in almost every other major system of the body.

Since CBD influences the endocannabinoid system, and the endocannabinoid system influences balance throughout the whole body, you can see how CBD could have the potential to have a long list of diverse benefits for the body

BUT that being said, the first endocannabinoid once covered in just 1992 to the research into this system is still in its infancy. We don’t have many good human clinical trials to base any claims off yet

Nature's skittles 🍓🥝🍊 Before I turned holistic, Skittles were actually my favourite. Now, I prefer nature's candy! I always eat fruits first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This increases their nutrient absorption and digestibility. Eating fruit too close to other meals that include carbs, fats, and proteins can cause fruit to ferment in your gut because your body breaks them down far quicker than other macronutrients. Why do we encourage clients to have fun at @theltrainer? Firstly, not everyone is born a morning person so getting up to exercise at 6am can be a challenge in itself. Finding movements that are challenging and rewarding in your body creates something tangible to look forward for am practices. Before the temptation to snooze sets in, clients are inspired to see the abdominal circuit @restore_yourbody has in store for  her clients. 
One of the biggest hurtles to getting into a workout flow is fear. Fear of failure, fear of not being able to execute, fear of judgment, fear of actually succeeding. The easiest way to demolish fear and its trappings is to have fun. Be kind to the body and do movements that inspire the soul. Create space in the body through stretching, lifting, moving and sweating.

Remember to take time to be quiet and ponder. Don't always be running from your thoughts by cluttering your head with more. Try to incorporate space in your day. We don't always have to be "crushing  and "killing" it. Try nurturing and massaging an idea instead. 
I've been blessed to have always lived on the ocean, whether in BC, Canada, or Maui, and so to me there is something very calming about its  constant rhapsody that always reminds me how small I am in this great huge sea of humanity. Somehow it reminds me how connected we all are, And I come away wishing we all KNEW that. 
Fitness is not only about our anatomy and physiology, but about our spiritual and emotional selves too. Take care of ALL of you. Being kind to others starts with being kind to yourself. It's not a selfish act to put yourself first. Remember that and don't let anyone tell you otherwise💖

How much should you train to see progress?

Let me know down below what your current training schedule looks like 👇🏻 I’m currently doing yoga 4-5 days/week, lifting 2 days per week, and doing cardio 3-5 days per week (Shocked?? Me too 😂)

The truth is that optimal training frequency is different for everyone, but here are some good guidelines you can follow to determine whether you might want to increase or decrease your training frequency:
.
1️⃣ The most important rule is that you want to do the least amount to elicit change. That way, if you start plateau you still have room to increase your training. And this will also prevent overtraining. The graph of training effectiveness to training frequency is a bell curve. Too little training won’t elicit much response but too much training will also hurt your progress. You want to find the sweet spot at the top of the bell curve.

2️⃣ Your training frequency must be compatible with your lifestyle. If you can only feasibly fit in 2-3 training sessions per week, but you try to push it to 5-6, you will more than likely burn out and won’t be able to sustain your progress
.
3️⃣ Your training frequency should not exceed your bodies recovery ability. There are a few things that decrease your body’s ability to recover. If you are lacking in these things and can not improve them, you should decrease your training frequency. These things are:
➡️ Poor sleep quality/lack of sleep ➡️ Too much stress
➡️ Lack of proper nutrition
.
4️⃣ Remember that fast progress is not usually sustainable progress. Week to week you may not see much change with optimal training frequency, but that is normal. It can definitely be frustrating to not see progress as fast as you want to, but don’t let that drive you into overtraining. If you can see progress months to month and if other people are noticing your progress, you’re on the right track.

If you have trouble engaging your ass or feeling it in movements like squats, lunges or on the leg press you are most likely Quad Dominant. Which means you feel them mainly in the front of your legs. ⁣

It takes time to fix and to learn how to activate them, but these two exercises alongside some deep hip/quad foam rolling and stretching will help you!  Watch my form and the angles of my body closely. ⁣⁣

MINDSET 🤯

Thanks to my in-laws @one_fitdad and I were able to workout TOGETHER this morning. Which meant we had two weighted pieces of equipment to use...25lb weighted vest and a 40lb sandbag. -
Before we even began I started to convince myself that I wasn’t going to be able to use the sandbag much because it was going to be too heavy for what we were doing. -
Then I tried it. And guess what? I did it. I think sometimes we tend to build things up in our heads and think about how tough things are going to be. But in actuality, it ends up being achievable, you just have to try. .

I always believe others are watching us... our parents, spouses, loved ones, kiddos, friends, employees & so on... But this really went deep for me because we really don’t understand the impact we have on this Earth.... some people think you have to make a certain amount of money, have a certain big label job, or have a certain level of education to contribute to society... you may have been told this in some shape or form or maybe YOU put that thought in your mind... Regardless of how that thought got there, YOU have a lot to offer others! No matter what stage of life you are in; We are beautifully & wonderfully made DIFFERENTLY to help each other! 🤜🏼🤛🏼 So don’t put yourself in a box, or feel the pressure of everyone looking at you... instead embrace it!💛 Your light no matter how big, small, loud, or whisper it is always a light for others. Plant Based Pythons 🐍

People seem kinda shocked (and sometimes butt hurt 🍑😣) when I tell them I don't believe in and haven't consumed protein powders of any kind since my early twenties... so over 10 years now.

I always intuited that protein was an over hyped subject in relation to performance and most probably another industry scam. As a holistic health advocate and movement generalist I find that balance and intelligent stimulus are the greatest denominators of movement capacity along with strong desire to acquire new skill sets both of which have nothing to do with how much protein you're consuming.

Another huge factor for progress is RECOVERY and whey protein or protein in general is more often than not thrown into this conversation. However, IMO, their are several habits which supersede protein intake as superior recovery measures such as sleep quality, hydration, adequate rest, meditation and sound training programming.

I dropped the forearm pic, just to prove a point. I mean do I really need more muscle on my frame to progress and become a healthier more competent mover? This pic wasn't taken post workout when I was pumped, I just did some quick isometrics to amp up blood flow.

Anyway, hope this was food for thought.

A study by the  American College of Sports Medicine, indicated that six weeks of bicycle riding or weight training eased stress and irritability in women who had received an anxiety disorder diagnosis. Here is how it works...When exercising Dopamine, a chemical  that plays a role in happiness, is released from the brain. This neurotransmitter is necessary to achieve pleasure and well-being witin the body. Studies find that as the body ages it’s dopamine stores are depleting. Regular exercise is the antidote to keep things flowing as we get older. As the body changes there must be mindfulness to sustaining health and moving towards embodiment. Crazy how everything is connected!

Tight Hamstrings, Achy Hips, Sore Lower Back?

[ Limiting Beliefs ] 
A common bias that can have grave consequences is the belief that we aren’t equipped to perfect own health but must rely on doctors, drugs, and the therapies to heal us. This leads to a feeling of powerlessness that can prevent us from taking lifesaving action on our own behalf. 
As long as we’re caught in the grip of our limiting beliefs stored in the limbic brain, we will constantly look to others to tell us what to do - not just medical experts to determine our health care but also political commentators to tell us how to vote and the media to show us who our enemies are. 
Our limiting beliefs tend to keep us trapped in one of three roles: victim, persecutor, rescuer. These sit at the three corners of what I call the triangle of disempowerment. We create dramas featuring these stick roles, and then as the story unfolds, we act as if lost in a maze. We never break out of the disempowering tale, holding on with a death grip to the parts we are playing or simply switching roles, which keeps us trapped in the triangle. No wonder every situation seems familiar: we keep projecting the same stories onto the players and reenacting the old dramas. 
To change our inner narratives, we have to repair our fight or flight system. Once you reset the HPA axis, you can more easily choose to release negative emotions that feed depression, anger, and that make you sick, and cultivate positive feelings that help the body repair.

How much should you train to see progress?

Let me know down below what your current training schedule looks like 👇🏻 I’m currently doing yoga 4-5 days/week, lifting 2 days per week, and doing cardio 3-5 days per week (Shocked?? Me too 😂)

The truth is that optimal training frequency is different for everyone, but here are some good guidelines you can follow to determine whether you might want to increase or decrease your training frequency:
.
1️⃣ The most important rule is that you want to do the least amount to elicit change. That way, if you start plateau you still have room to increase your training. And this will also prevent overtraining. The graph of training effectiveness to training frequency is a bell curve. Too little training won’t elicit much response but too much training will also hurt your progress. You want to find the sweet spot at the top of the bell curve.
.
2️⃣ Your training frequency must be compatible with your lifestyle. If you can only feasibly fit in 2-3 training sessions per week, but you try to push it to 5-6, you will more than likely burn out and won’t be able to sustain your progress
.
3️⃣ Your training frequency should not exceed your bodies recovery ability. There are a few things that decrease your body’s ability to recover. If you are lacking in these things and can not improve them, you should decrease your training frequency. These things are:
➡️ Poor sleep quality/lack of sleep ➡️ Too much stress
➡️ Lack of proper nutrition
.
4️⃣ Remember that fast progress is not usually sustainable progress. Week to week you may not see much change with optimal training frequency, but that is normal. It can definitely be frustrating to not see progress as fast as you want to, but don’t let that drive you into overtraining. If you can see progress months to month and if other people are noticing your progress, you’re on the right track.

I believe the true definition of EATING HEALTHY shouldn’t be solely based on what foods you EAT or DON’T EAT. 🙏🏼🌱

It should also be based on how foods make you FEEL - Physically & MENTALLY.

A healthy diet means a healthy body.

I’m In ‘Chilled Out’ Heaven Today!

I just got pummelled, pulled, pressed and ‘pressure pointed’ for an hour and 15 glorious minutes!

.
I have been getting monthly massages for at least 25 years now.  Even in the past when things were tight money-wise, I still found the $ for my monthly massage and facial!  Hilarious really - I would go without all sorts, but no way was I missing out on my massage or facial!
.
.
.
It’s essential that after you have pushed, challenged and worked your body, that you treat it to a releasing and/or relaxing treatment of some type.  It’s an often overlooked but crucial part of getting the very best out of your body.
.
.
.
It is without doubt an important part of any training/workout program you are doing.
.
.
.
It needs to be regular and consistent though– if not monthly then at least every two months.
.
.
.
Having an extremely affordable and amazing weekly massage is one of the many things I love about living in Ubud. .
.
.
So whatever training routine you are in or about to embark on.  Make sure you factor in that weekly, monthly or every two months body treatment. .

Aaaaaah sweet bliss – I will sleep well tonight! 🌸

I love a lot of downtime. I'm a dreamer by nature and really don't like being 'on' all the time. So it's a wonderful thing to live near the beach so that I can go there to let the sound of the ocean wash through me and take any little troubles I may have, out to sea.

Fitness isn't only about our bodies. It is the shape of our thoughts and ability to cope with the mental stressors. It is our ability to be fearless enough to open our hearts to strangers. Kindness when no one is looking. It means having enough self respect to say No when  necessary. It's integrity... The ability to bend in the chaos of life without snapping. It is maintaining the softness of your heart no matter how tough your life has been. It is not gossiping about others but instead talking about ideas. And it is maintaining healthy boundaries.

We need time when we have no to-do list so that we can be creative in our thinking. That's when the magic happens 💖🤔💭💥

After 4 years of tracking macros on MyFitnessPal, I finally deleted it last week 😱 WHAT!!! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s wild. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It wasn’t easy to let go of the familiar. ⁣You must begin to first TRUST that you can let go of fear/obsession around food! ⁣( you will not get fat on bread or carbs...eating TOO MUCH makes you fat. ) ⁣
⁣
I learn to listen to my body and  take note of my hunger cues while applying all my nutrition knowledge ( both certed in PT & nutrition) into what I eat. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I coach all my clients to count macros now simply as one of several TOOLS to be aware of how many calories are in what they eat. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s the hopes that they don’t become too reliant on their macros and have to count EVERYTHING and discover a method that works for them LONG TERM. ⁣⁣
⁣
With @powerwolfathletics, you first learn the basics of nutrition & put it into practice as we guide you the whole way. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Then when you are familiar with calories and your intake, decide what your goal will be. ( to cut down, -500 calories and to bulk up +500 calories) ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Overall, to achieve intuitive eating and escape the diet culture is to go back to basics, have awareness over your choices and have trust in yourself! ⁣

The “P” stands for Power. ⁣⁣

The head facing back stands for overcoming struggles. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The wolf stands for individuality ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The feminine athletic build stands for grace and strength ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I created Powerwolf Athletics because I wanted to  help build others up, ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
& connect them to like-minded individuals to be a part of something MASSIVE. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This isn’t just some program to lose weight and say goodbye ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Others see fitness as a moment...⁣⁣
