sometimes things don’t work out exactly as planned...and that’s okay! this morning I woke up to an email that my workout class had been cancelled, I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty annoyed. I mean, I could’ve slept at least an extra hour! But I got out of bed, made myself breakfast, and booked a class for later today. Now I get to relax on my couch and enjoy the morning binge watching Netflix, without totally throwing away my goals! everything happens for a reason, right?

Allô! Je me suis rarement présentée sur Instagram. Mais depuis un moment, vous êtes plusieurs nouveaux à me suivre (mettez un 👋🏻en commentaire si c’est le cas!). En premier, MERCI de me suivre, de me lire et j’espère que vous aimerez ma façon de voir et de communiquer la nutrition!

Question de faire connaissance, voici quelques faits sur moi: 1️⃣ ceci est la première photo de moi que je publie volontairement sur les réseaux sociaux depuis que mon blogue existe. Je n’ai ni défaite ni raison valable, outre la lâcheté d’aller me faire prendre en photo. 2️⃣ je suis nutritionniste et docteure en pharmacie. Je ne suis pas pharmacienne, j’ai juste que j’ai fait mon doctorat dans ce département.  3️⃣ Mon sujet de thèse de doctorat était tout ce qui entoure la perte de poids et pourquoi les diètes ne marchent pas. Même si c’est ma spécialité, je parle rarement de ces sujets sur mon blogue. 4️⃣ Je me fais un point d’honneur de parler de nutrition de façon positive. C’est pourquoi je me tiens loin des grandes controverses alimentaires sur le web. Ça explique aussi pourquoi je ne donne jamais mon opinion dans les médias sur les diètes à la mode et que je ne parle presque jamais de perte de poids. 5️⃣ Depuis que j’étudie la nutrition, on me dit régulièrement que je ne suis pas une nutritionniste comme les autres. Je n’ai jamais compris pourquoi. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 6️⃣Je suis à 85% végé et 15% infidèle. Toutefois, mon infidélité a toujours un souci environnemental. 7️⃣ Même si je suis nutritionniste, jamais au grand jamais j’imposerai à quiconque ma vision de la nutrition, ma façon de manger et jamais je ne vous ferai sentir coupable de vos choix alimentaires. Je suis là uniquement pour vous enseigner la nutrition (la vraie) et si ça vous inspire des changements, c’est tant mieux! 8️⃣Je fais du vélo de montagne depuis 18 ans. C’est meilleur pour la santé que le canabis 😂 9️⃣ Je suis super poche en selfie et je préfère prendre de loin prendre des photos de bouffe. D’ailleurs tout ce que je shoot avec ma caméra, je le mange.

Definitely the quality of meats, vegetables and fruits might be better - foods are full of preservatives and often just taste like plastic. But you always can find organic and farm foods over here. It costs more but you should understand that it’s a contribution to your well-being.

A habit of self-cooking might be very helpful for saving your health and being well-shaped.

But if you are used to eating out you also always can find better alternatives. My absolute favs are:

Aaand we’re back to regular plate programming 👏🏻🍽 The two things I look forward to most after a trip are 1) doing a huge fill-the-fridge grocery haul (pics from today’s TJ’s run in my stories 🛒) and 2) returning to simple + satisfying meals 💯. This fast, easy (and a little bit cheesy) supper squad was just that: spicy garlic shrimp, basil-parmesan penne, garlicky greens, and sautéed shrooms 👌🏻🥰

🥬🍜 Baked tofu in chili garlic sauce, lo mein noodles, garlicky sesame baby bok choy by @cookingforpeanuts. Thanks for tagging me.

Recipe: Press 1-14oz block extra firm tofu to remove excess liquid. Cut into approximately 1-inch cubes. Transfer to bowl and with with enough garlic powder and paprika to coat tofu cubes. Bake at 400F on lined sheet until slightly crispy, about 20 minutes. Meanwhile whisk sauce: 2 minced garlic cloves + 2 tbsp sambal oelek + 3 tbsp low-sodium tamari or soy sauce + 2 tbsp rice vinegar + 1-1/2 tsp maple syrup (or to taste) + 1/2 tsp cornstarch. Heat sauce on low while whisking until slightly thickened. Add baked tofu to saucepan and mix. Heat another 30 seconds. 🌱Bok choy: Either 1) oil-free option: cook sliced garlic in a shallow layer of vegetable broth for a minute. Cut baby bok choy into 4 pieces lengthwise and add to broth. Cover and allow to steam about 1 minute or until slightly softened. Mix in a little tamari or soy sauce and top with sesame seeds. Or 2) Remove leaves from base of baby bok choy. Sauté sliced garlic in a little neutral oil for about 30 seconds. Add bok choy leaves and a little tamari or soy sauce and cook another minute until leaves just soften. Remove and top with sesame seeds and a little toasted sesame oil.

Fruit is just an amazing food and perfect as a snack 💗 On this pic you can see 5 small bananas, 100g berries, 1 Tablespoon flax seeds and some water 🍌🍓💦 On the left side there is whole fruit, on the right side the food has been „processed“ into a smoothie. Both are fine, because the water and the fiber of the fruit is still in it😋 However, the #smoothie can be gone in two minutes, because you don’t have to chew carefully; so this option is ideal for people who are struggling to consume enough calories (Please note that I‘m not saying that smoothies cause weight gain, it’s just easier to consume more calories this way; if you drink a smoothie instead of a meal, or can promote weight loss, too). Whereas eating the whole fruit is the ideal choice for people who want to lose weight 👙💕 But as always: balance is key.

1 cup @threetreesfoods black sesame milk
1 tbsp @woodstockfoods almond butter 
1 tbsp chia seeds
Pinch of cinnamon 
1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen peptides 
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup steamed then frozen cauliflower 
Small handful of spinach 
Blendddd then added some coconut flakes, black sesame seeds & @natierrasuperfoods cacao nibs on top for a nice little crunch 😍
