🌿Fueling my mind and body with healthy whole foods 🌿

Honestly this past month has been unpredictable, busy and sometimes unorganized. I’ve completely fell off my schedule. Sleeping, eating, working out has been a cluster. I’ve been reaching for the easy and temporary fix. This morning a had a self check in and realized I’ve been living this past month by EXCUSES.

I’m here to hold my self accountable for my goals, habits and future. It’s honestly so easy to give up, it’s easy to give in and and make excuses. But at the end of the day it’s WORTH IT to invest in myself and my future. • 
It takes daily consistent efforts and strict follow through to get from where I am to where I want to be. Sometimes we all slip up but it’s important to continuously check in with your self and stay on track.

Day 8 of eating mostly raw foods and grains and I feel AMAZING ! WHY? Even with a full cooked protein filled meal , i often feel under energised. I am convinced that I Make the mistake of over cooking the nutrients out of my vegetables. Quite often when we feel hunger, the body isn’t crying for food quantity, it is crying out for the nutrients it is missing. By eating raw foods, I am replenishing my body with 100% of what the foods have to offer my body without Manipulation. Heavy Metal Detox 👇👇

Hey you all! Here is some info regarding heavy metal detoxing. Now, this is a detoxification process which is pretty much ongoing being that we are exposed to heavy metals on a regular basis. This is something virtually everyone should do almost every day. You do not have to be as intense with the detox as you would in the beginning, but this is more of a steady detox rather than an "all at once" detox (like colon cleansing).

An idea for how to implement these foods: You can start your morning with a handful of cilantro and a cup of burdock tea along with a glass of water and activated charcoal. You can take some spirulina or chlorella at lunch and have some wild blueberries as a snack.

There is really no set way to do this; you can just go at your own pace and consume as many of these foods as you like. Be careful of dosing with things like activated charcoal and bentonite clay as too much would obviously be a bad idea. Also, if consuming these things, be sure to drink at least 12-16 glasses of water per day to keep these compounds from accumulating in your colon. You should be drinking about this much anyways, but be especially mindful when consuming activated charcoal and bentonite clay.

That is all for now you guys! This is actually one of the simplest detoxes because it is one that is ongoing. You can consume higher volumes of these foods for the first 3-4 weeks to jumpstart the process then just incorporate them as you feel necessary from there. Easy, quick, nutritious, and DELICIOUS dinner.

From start to finish this took about 15 minutes and here’s what’s in it: 🍛the magic ingredient is Tamari suace (I use the @clearspringuk one) 🍛about 150g raw king prawns (they shrink a lot when cooked)
🍛around 75g of cooked basmati brown rice (this was pre-cooked, split into portions and put in my freezer last week)
🍛1/4 of a red onion, sliced 🍛1 clove of garlic, chopped 🍛1 orange pepper, sliced
🍛 Chilli flakes
🍛large handful of kale
🍛about half a small head of cauliflower blitzed in the food processor
🍛small handful of cooked chickpeas (from a tin)

I started by sautéing the garlic and onion in a little olive oil, then added about a tablespoon of tamari sauce, the chilli flakes and the prawns, let that all mix together and allow for the prawns to start cooking through - then added all the rest, gave it a good mix, and left it to cook through for a few minutes 👌😋more time to chill in the garden tonight 🧘🏻‍♀️

Easy, quick, nutritious, and DELICIOUS dinner.

I started by sautéing the garlic and onion in a little olive oil, then added about a tablespoon of tamari sauce, the chilli flakes and the prawns, let that all mix together and allow for the prawns to start cooking through - then added all the rest, gave it a good mix, and left it to cook through for a few minutes 👌😋more time to chill in the garden tonight 🧘🏻‍♀️

Tonight I made salmon pasta with a @philadelphia_uki sauce. I cooked a side of salmon skin side down in a pan before putting that in the oven, then made a sauce by frying courgette, mushrooms and peas then stirring in the philly cheese, black pepper, a pinch of salt and some sage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

➡️I haven’t always felt strong. ➡️I haven’t always felt like I knew what I was doing in the gym. (I was that girl who did the same exercises every time Bc those were what I knew or didn’t feel too self conscious doing in front or other people)
➡️I haven’t always trusted that lifting weights is really going to give better (lasting and sustainable) results than endless hours of cardio. I loved me some elliptical 😅🚴🏻‍♀️ But that’s not what I choose to focus on. Its too easy to be sucked into that helpless void that I remember so vividly. It’s too easy to begin to dwell on how I used to beat myself up and punish myself with extra cardio or how I would stress about going out to dinner with my friends or family. (I know how to order now to enjoy myself with pretty much any menu because I know how to fuel my body and I have experimented more with what tastes amazing is to be ENJOYED not stressed over.) It’s good to remember where we came from but let’s be careful to look back in love and kindness to that old self—she didn’t know a better way because that is the path that she had to walk in order to get to where she is now. Yes it was painful at times but I have been there and can empathize and be right there when someone explains to me their relationship with themselves, food, or body shame. ✅Now I just want to focus on what lies AHEAD and what POSSIBILITIES are open and available to anyone who chooses to invest the time and energy in themselves—nothing gets me more excited when someone has a breakthrough and has that moment (or culmination of moments) when they finally see and FEEL the difference of living a healthy lifestyle and putting in the work—because here is the thing: we ALL spend energy in one way or another when it comes to our health and fitness—we either spend it stressing over how we feel (or how clothes don’t fit or how we wish we could change) or we spend it taking ACTIONABLE steps that allow us to be able to give time, attention and focus to other areas of our life. 
Because here is the other thing (and this is a warning⚠️😉 )—once you begin to feel amazing, strong, confident, open to life and BELIEVE in yourself everything is possible💕

In my 5-year doctor of Chinese Medicine training, I was fortunate to attend a program that taught and used Chinese characters. This added tremendous depth to my learning and understanding of the medicine (and is, sadly, quite rare in the states and Canada). As a student, I also found practicing characters a wonderful, meditative way to ease the mind + reduce study stress. I'll for sure be weaving some Chinese characters into the online offerings at @alchemist_academy_online. Any one else love them as much as I do? Or curious to learn?⁠

So this bday weekend I was on my Nipsey ish... Staying grounded and humble is a must. ♦️ A great way to get ACTIVE💪🏾 is to go for walks. Taking walks, especially in nature is a healthy and low impact exercise. You get fresh air and break a sweat. Although it may sound small adding a 20 to 30 minute walk in your ROUTINE a couple of days a week can really pay off.

That being said, ice cream does provide your body with a handful of key nutrients, including bone-strengthening calcium and phosphorus, blood-pressure-lowering potassium and energizing B vitamins. It also provides a decent amount of protein, which is important in tissue repair and cell growth.

🤤 Ice cream provides more energy than the whole milk and is great for someone who is trying to gain weight!

Aaaaand just like that it’s Monday evening!! Seriously loving myself right now for leaving a pasta bake out of the freezer before going to work this morning 🙌🏻 So this is just one of my (many) freezer stock pasta bakes which I heated up in the micro and added a bit of extra cheese to and melted under the grill 🙌🏻 Beyond quick and easy and only 350 cals for the lot (there’s no meat in this pasta bake- just cherry tomatoes!!) 🍝

Aaaaand just like that it’s Monday evening!! 🌿 Sometimes we hold onto thoughts, thinking we can control the outcome. I am naturally a person that stresses because I am always trying to achieve perfection.

🌿 Here are some 3 specific things that have helped me when I am feeling stressed, and I hope they help you too!

💙 Pranayama: The benefits are very broad and go beyond helping with stress. Breathing correctly generates peace of body and peace of mind.

💙 Accepting that you cannot control everything: This is easy to say, but requires practice.

💙 Self-love: One of the most important tips. Self-love includes being able to say no when you find yourself in a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable and that causes you instability.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some #fries 😍 Along with a white bean dip, steamed veggies and avocado. The recipe for the fries and dip are on my blog (link in bio) 🤗

Hope you’re having a good Monday! Honestly this past weekend was not the best. I’ve spoken upon this before, but I believe recovery is a constant journey, at least from my experience so far. I can have long periods of time where I don’t think about food, I feel good about myself, and nothing triggers me but something could happen and I feel like I’m set 2 steps back. Recovery (and even post recovery) isn’t all rainbows and success. Idk lately I’ve just had to confront some negative thoughts and get to the bottom of why I feel the way I do. With that being said, bad days don’t make you any less recovered. It doesn’t negate any progress thus far and how well we’ve been doing. Fall down 7 times get up 8 right? 💪🏻 Thanks for reading ❤️ #recovery

Never did I think I’d crave a house salad or bowl of watermelon buuuut... 🤷‍♀️😍 when the urge to pick up a sugar / chocolatey / salty treat inevitably hits though, I’ve been trying my best to reach for healthy over processed ones!! My fave lil swaps over the past couple months have included:
✨ chocolate → bowl of cocoa oats
✨ crisps → popcorn, salted cashews or smoky almonds (@sainsburys do some yummy ones)
✨ ice cream → fruity ice lollies (homemade, just blend fruit and water then freeze in moulds; dip in melted dark chocolate and refreeze for a choccie fix)
✨ fizzy sugary drinks → sparkling water with cordial or fruit slices added
✨ cake → chia pudding sweetened with agave 
What healthier alternatives have you been loving lately??!!

Wil je je fitter voelen en gezonder leven? Begin dan met het elimineren van e-nummers, bewerkte olieën en voedsel uit een pakje.  Eet gewoon alles vers uit de natuur. Dit noem je ook wel clean eating. Vanuit daar kan je dan altijd nog de granen en gewone aardappels elimineren en dan eet je al een primal dieet. Elimineer vervolgens nog de zuivel en dan ben je paleo! Stapsgewijs kom je er ook ☺️ als je dan nog de koolhydraten verminderd of weglaat ben je low carb/keto. (Je kan proberen weer zuivel te eten als je ketogeen eet)

Do you want to feel fit and live healthy? Start with eliminating additives, processed oils and processed foods. Just eat everything fresh out of nature. This is also called #cleaneating. 
From there you can always eliminate grains and regular potatoes and then you will be on a primal diet. 
Then eliminate dairy and you will be paleo!
Working in steps works too ☺️
Now just eat less or leave out starches, and you will be low carb/keto. (you can try eating dairy on keto)

It’s easy to think once you establish proper habits and express gratitude you should be happy by now... but you aren’t.⁣
⁣
The first step to happiness is to LET GO of the PRESSURE you put on yourself to be happy. ⁣
⁣
Be patient. You will (hopefully) be here for quite a while, so continue with your healthy habits, continue with your positive mindset, and continue adding value to your life... in the meantime, stop putting so much PRESSURE on yourself to feel a certain way. Once you allow that pressure to lift, THAT’S when the magic starts to happen⁣
⁣
Remember, everyone has dark days, it’s those days that can pull the most motivation and creativity out of you so THANK your mind for having those days, because those days are what help you to have brighter ones 🖤⁣

I’m all about simple meals here since I’m living by myself but here’s a super quick one that I whipped up when I wanted to give my stomach simple, easy foods to digest!

Quinoa Bowl:
-quinoa cooked in coconut milk/water
-steamed broccoli and bok choy
-corn
-kidney beans drizzled with sriracha
-dollop of hummus
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
This would be something I used to make in my dorm! You can get the ingredients from the dining hall salad bar and microwave a rice or quinoa packet from @traderjoes or @wholefoods ! I talk more about simple tips like these in my eating healthy in college video I posted on my YouTube a week ago! Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard 😊

Just finished doing some Insta stories for the sweet and sticky sauce in this photo and thought I might as well write the recipe down here. I def didn’t get it all right in stories because I was too nervous on camera and needed to adjust later haha. This is one of our favourite stir fry’s made with onion, broccoli, mushrooms capsicum and cashews. We usually do brown rice not noodles and always with crumbed tofu which is the best part! anyway here is the recipe to the sauce! As I said it’s not very authentic but we like it! 
4 tbsp raw honey or brown rice syrup if vegan 
1 tsp tamari
1 tsp sesame oil 
1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice 
Dried chilli flakes to taste 
That’s it! Always more impressive in my @coconutbowls 💛 happy Monday •

Just finished doing some Insta stories for the sweet and sticky sauce in this photo and thought I might as well write the recipe down here. I def didn’t get it all right in stories because I was too nervous on camera and needed to adjust later haha. This is one of our favourite stir fry’s made with onion, broccoli, mushrooms capsicum and cashews. We usually do brown rice not noodles and always with crumbed tofu which is the best part! anyway here is the recipe to the sauce! As I said it’s not very authentic but we like it!
4 tbsp raw honey or brown rice syrup if vegan
1 tsp tamari
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice
Dried chilli flakes to taste
