So this weekend was all about mental health than physical health. Beautiful drive out to the coast for coffee, lunch, walks and lots of reflecting on where I see the next 5 or 6 weeks heading and I'm excited!!

Saw some strength gains today!

Ever since I reversed out of my cut, I’ve been getting much stronger. Today I did some mid-rep work with my back squat, and I’m really proud of the depth I can reach now. .
I hit:
2 sets of 6 reps at 205
2 sets of 4 reps at 225
.
It’s been moderately difficult to stay consistent with my nutrition and strength training this summer. My work is taking a lot of energy and time away from everything else, and that’s been my biggest challenge. I’ve averaged 6 workouts weekly, and 3.5-4K calories daily. All I care about is becoming a better version of myself for tomorrow.

I normally do cardio only on HIIT days, and always dread it. Adding a little weight training made this morning’s session way more enjoyable. I think I’m gonna add weight training to my HIIT days from now on. I’m gonna post a chest & ab workout next! I hope you guys enjoy this one in the meantime ☺️

Yesterday was only my second day in a row back to the gym but boy does it ever feel good to get moving again. Coming back from vacation and back to reality always sucks but getting back into a routine of working and getting to the gym hasn’t been too bad. Back again 😁
So this time i figured id go over what is one of the staples of most peoples training routines on a push day; The Flat Bench - Barbell or Dumbbell?

Both exercises are great and in my current bulking routine i use both in order to maximise activation of my pectoris major as each has its pros 
In terms of range of motion:
I think that dumbbell presses allow for greater extension as your hands arent physically locked in place- allowing greater arm movement/ activation of the chest 
For symmetrical development:
Id say that during a barbell press hand dominance can often occur which you can sometimes see where one side of the body pushes the bar up first- leaving one side lagging.
In a dumbbell press each side must work independently and its easier to track where imbalences lie earlier 
In terms of muscular tension:
From what ive seen training with people and in myself- its often easy to slide your hands and elbows outward distributing the load to other muscle groups which can not only cause injury but decrease the tension on the primary muscle tissue

Although this sounds like im favouring  dumbbells massively but for ages i stuck to barbell bench as i found it much easier to train with explosive force and really concentrate on strength gains as moving the weight was in my opinion easier on my elbows and wrists when done correctly.

I would say the biggest difference I’ve made has been since January 2018 -> now. In 2017 I had been going to the gym for about one year with little to no progress due to lack of knowledge. But you live and you learn 🥳

From being in Mexico for 10 days & having everything I ate go right through me (not in a good way) and sweating literally none stop I would say I don’t look to bad at all. Usually vacations get the best of me & I come back looking like I have hella food babies😅 •

What I am trying to say is taking 10 days off from the gym or 2 or however many you want is VERY ok! 110% ok. Don’t ever be scared to take a break & listen to your body. It’s better to listen then to over work and either get an injury or get sick. I had that happen to me once & I am thankful it hasn’t happen since•

Slowly but surely getting back into sumo deads🙌🏻 I’m going for lower weight and higher reps right now due to the fact that I need to perfect my form again. Being pregnant actually made a huge difference in form because of the difference in weight distribution. I actually found it a lot easier to do things like deadlifts and squats when I had a big heavy belly! It made me feel a lot more grounded and balanced. So now here we are starting from scratch! Today I threw up a quick 95 for 8 reps (the last two didn’t make the cut in this vid😅). Definitely nowhere near my old PRs, but I’m trying to avoid injury and build back up over time. Honesty is key when talking about a fitness journey. Because it’s just that, a journey. I’m here to work the muscles, not the ego💛✨

Can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually miss my uni gym wow (mostly the lighting though🤪). Since I’ve been traveling a lot this summer, I’ve really enjoyed funky full body workouts because I don’t set aside lots of gym time while I’m on holiday. And when I do make it to the gym, I use all the waffles I’ve consumed to my advantage tbh BUT also I really try to give it my all. So yesterday, I went in with my Beyoncé attitude on and just so ready for it and my workout was beyond 💯🤩🤪
So conclusion, my friends: the mindset you bring into the gym determines the quality of your workout x1000🤟🏼😎

CABLE ONLY BICEPS & TRICEPS! 💪 It seems a lot of women are still scared to train their arms for fear of being “bulky” and having big biceps and defined triceps is seen as “manly” - which is stupid! 😴 
The levels of testosterone in the average female body is no where near enough to obtain the same results of muscle growth as men. Therefore without some form of “help” it would be very difficult for a women to become “manly” and “bulky” 🤷🏻‍♀️

SOOOO DON’T NEGLECT YOUR UPPER BODY! It’s so important to train every part of your body and not just the booty.
