What Is The Mind-Muscle Connection?🤔

As you know, movement is controlled by the brain. The first step towards muscular contraction is a signal sent by the brain to your muscles telling them to contract. You might say that the mind-muscle connection (MMC) occurs at something called the "neuromuscular junction". This is where the mind meets the body. The brain releases a chemical neurotransmitter called "acetylcholine" to communicate with muscles in the body.

When acetylcholine is released at the neuromuscular junction it crosses the "synapses" (the tiny space that separates the nerve from the muscle) where it binds to receptors on the surface of muscle fibers. Voila, muscle contraction.

The more you can improve this communication, the more muscle fibers you will recruit. A single muscle head is made up of many individual muscle fibers. By improving your MMC you are actually increasing the number of muscle fibers being recruited when you perform a lift. This results in a better quality muscle contraction and better workout.

What’s up people, soooo I a super chilled weekend catching up on rest from a work Christmas party on Thursday nothing like a 4am finish...(yes I still had work on Friday 🤕) and feeling a little lazy having not trained. So now just about to head into town for a Sunday leg session, it’s going to be pretty nasty but I’m buzzing for it 😏 will try film some of it, wish me luck xox

I weighed myself today and I’m 92kg 😭😂 It just goes to show that you can train as hard as you want but if your diet (calorie surplus for me) isn’t matching up then minimal changes will be made.
Believe it or not - I actually struggle to CONSISTENTLY eat 4,000 calories+
I will be documenting what I eat in a day in effort to consistently hit my daily calories!

As I leave for my flight to Paris, I’ve had some thoughts on my mind. Something I have been doing for a long time is searching for my purpose. I think this is something most of us do. In the process, I believed I was supposed to be one thing, and that was supposed to define who I am or who I spend my time with. What I’ve realized, is that there is not just one purpose to my life, but many. I love fitness, and training, but at the end of the day it doesn’t define who I am. See, having accolades and accomplishing things is incredibly fulfilling, but have you really changed that much at the end of the day? I think not. I don’t define myself based off of what I have achieved, but I define myself off of who I am. There is no medal, no amount of money, and no materialistic thing that can take away my integrity as a man. I’m kind, passionate, optimistic, caring, and empathetic. That is who I am at the end of the day. I encourage you to stop defining your worth based off what you have. Define your worth off who you are, because the materialistic stuff alone will not KEEP you happy. (No, I am not sponsored by gymshark, but I do love their clothing)

I try to incorporate unilateral training fairly often. It’s important for a number of reasons:
1.) It allows you to target any imbalances you might have, whether from sports or an injury.
2.) You can really focus on the contraction and your form when it’s just one side of your body. Here you can see me briefly flex the tricep at the bottom portion of the movement to get a better stretch on the bicep. The greater the stretch, the stronger contraction.
3.) Doing standing unilateral exercises allows you to work stabilizer and postural muscles that don’t normally get worked.

Chasing that density...Head down, ticking boxes,, working away to beat this look for my next time on stage. It's a slow process but the work you put into the off season. Needs to be just as regimented and strict as a prep. This is where you can tell the difference between those that have used their off season as 'down time' and those that have kept that mindset and continue to tick them boxes daily and work just as hard as in prep.

“What you eating bro? Looking huge!” - is one of many comments I get at the gym. Jokingly I answered “Everything 😆”..

Truth be told it’s more complicated than that, but it’s a lot and it’s every day..
.
Yes I’m gonna go on about consistency again. The details are important, but consistency rules..
.
I’m eating about 250 calories a day over my maintenance which turns out to be 4250 calories. My macro split is 25% protein, 20% fats and 55% carbs. I have two cheat meals Saturday, breakfast and dinner..
.
However, I cannot stress enough that consistency trumps all of the details hands down..
.
I meet a lot of people who claim to be packing back the calories, but aren’t seeing the results, and I know one of two things are going on..
.
A) It needs to be more. “But it’s a lot bro” - It needs to be more bro..
.
B) More likely though, it’s not consistent. 4K cals 5 outta 7 days a week is only 22/30 days and 2.1/3 months and only 8 months of the year..
.
That translates to absolutely no gains to be brutally honest..
.
When it comes to diet, you have to be on top of it every day, or you’re not going to see the results you expect.. .
Don’t expect the world if you’re not willing to give your all..
