Here is some of this mirnings bodyweight movement session.

1st video working on shinbox sequence for 3 each way per round for 5 rounds. About 60 sec reat between. What's the point of the shinbox you ask?🤔
Well I'm glad you asked! The shinbox is phenomenal for working hip internal/external rotation, improving the length of the hip flexors( which almost everyone needs) also great for strengthening the glute, and pelvic floor muscles! If you sit all day, or a large portion of it than this exercise could be a key movement in helping your body combat the debilitating effects of prolonged sitting.👌👍 2nd clip is hollow pushups off my parallet bars for 5x10 with approx 60sec rest between.
Finished off with a nice 2 mile brisk walk.(don't underestimate the benefits of walking!) #calisthenics #bodybuilding

Friday night life 😝 My first full day of membership @ Diesel was actually last night. 💪🏽 it meant a second tough workout for the day, but I’ve been looking forward to it all week, like a first date-lol ❤️ This place does seem to take my training to another level. I’m not joking when I say the weights here seem heavier. It makes me wonder what I’ve really been lifting. Plus, I’ve actually been able to use machines that are used in my training program instead of modifying. My quads, hamstrings and glutes are definitely feeling a difference. Game changer for sure! I’m excited to see what could happen if I can make it here consistently. That is a major fear of mine at the moment. 🙃 @laurensimpson @laurensimpsonfitness

My #Teamwoody superstar clients just keep going from strength to strength!

@becca.emma28 here literally destroyed her hip thrusts last night

A huge progression, from having previously hit 50kg on the smith machine we moved over to a barbell hip thrust variation and kept going right up to 100kg for 5 reps!!! #proudpt as always! Amazing work!

What’s your go to leg workout? I used to do a lot of squats which was hard for me to target my glute instead of quad. Lately, I have been slowly transitioning to do more deadlift which I can feel that my glutes are more targeted. 5 out of 10, I feel like I am not in a correct position and constantly reminding myself to use glute. You’ll see me struggle a bit when I lift up. BRIDGES⚡️- are the most effective exercise to build your glutes. You simply cannot do enough bridges. However, make sure you are progressing this exercise, just like you would anything else. Simple floor bridges for sets of 15 won’t cut it for long. You’ll need to start adding more resistance to assure you are continuously challenging the glutes. ⠀

STRENGTH EXERCISES⚡️- the glutes play a critical role in your major strength movements (deadlift, lunges, squats). By constantly improving your strength movements, your glutes will continue to grow stronger as well. However, make sure you are not strictly relying on these movements to build strong glutes. They’re not enough to get the full job done.⠀

LATERAL BAND WORK⚡️- too many people are completely ignoring the lateral plane of motion! You need to train laterally! Especially if you want to build your glutes. Grab yourself a resistance band and start to work in side steps, clams, and leg raises to target that glute medius, for more well rounded glutes. ⠀

TRAIN EXPLOSIVE⚡️- it’s time to get moving. The glutes are the powerhouse of the lower body and need to be challenged in an explosive manner. Take yourself outside your comfort zone and start to train for power - box jumps, sprints, power cleans. Trust me, your glutes will be sore the next day after going through these explosive movements. .

Today will be an upper day for me, my leg day of Thursday killed my legs... their still hurt 2 days after!!! Since I’m more into my fitness journey I would like to add complements to improve my results. I used to take @foodspring_fr, their products are awesome and have a very good quality And I used to buy their vanilla vegan protein but I think I will also add casein and bcaa now. I also take Omega3 and euphytose (against stress)

Started off December with a solid back day, then had a week of no training and stress eating for a job interview which probably wasn’t even worth half the stress looking back BUT sometimes you got to reshuffle priorities and do what’s best for you 😇 If having a diet of doughnuts for a week is gonna make you feel happier and reduce ur stress lol then allow it and don’t punish yourself for treating yourself a lil 😌

With New Years right around the corner and everyone wanting to start their fitness resolutions...I thought I’d post some things I’ve learned from my 12 years of experience in the gym. 💪🏻
1. Find what “healthy” and “fit” looks like to YOU and aim for those goals. Don’t let anyone else define it for you. Don’t let others or anyone on social media tell YOU how YOU should look.
2. Don’t spend hours scrolling social media looking at picture perfect people hoping to look like them. Not even they look like them. They probably have professional photographers taking their pics or are using photo editors...You’d be surprised what even the free photo editors/apps can do...smaller waists and legs, bigger butts, whiter teeth, slimmer cheeks, bigger eyes. You name it and it exists.
3. STOP worrying about what you’ll look like in the gym. So many women don’t want to go to the gym because they don’t have the latest, most popular name brand workout clothes and shoes! Fuck that. All those popular brands you see on social media are mostly clothes made in China with a persons brand just slapped on it. I buy maybe one pair of good quality leggings a year and get most of my tops from cheap stores or crop my boyfriends old T-shirts. You’re gonna sweat in it anyways. Who cares where it’s from lol.
4. DON’T compare your progress or body to someone else’s. You don’t know their story, their genetics or lifestyle. Maybe they’re housewives who have way more time to spend in the gym. Maybe they are women who have never had children. Shoot maybe they have sugar daddies who pay for fancy personal trainers or maybe they have butt implants and can afford the newest high tech procedures to alter their bodies. You don’t know in today’s world lol. So focus on YOU and only YOU and the things YOU can do to improve your own health.
5. Last, STOP following fitness gurus and bikini models on social media. I know...You think it’s motivation but it’s NOT! It’s not real life and it’s not motivating. It’s only a reminder of how you DONT look or it’s a competition to see if you look better than that person. Instead, follow real people who have a similar lifestyle who have real results to show✅

Putting my STRONG Curves Booty Band set into good use! The four varying strengths are perfect for a wide range of exercises. This circuit targets the upper part of the glutes - the gluteus medius AKA the ‘booty shelf’. Hip thrusts are great, but if you aren’t specifically activating ALL 3 of your booty muscles with bands before your heavier workouts, your gains will be slooooooow 🍑⏳🍑 #STRONGCurves

Try 2-3 rounds of this circuit, 15-20 reps of each exercise and resting *strictly* 45 seconds between rounds 🥵

🔥 SUPERMAN PULSES (light band)
🔥 LYING ABDUCTION (medium band)

I’ll share a little secret with you all. I love to meal prep....but not always. Lol I love cooking but sometimes I have more work on my plate that needs to get done and I could push though and make time to get meal prep done, but if we have the ability to offload that task, without sacrificing quality or money for that matter for a few prepped meals per week, do it! @saints_meal_prep has bulk style orders of chicken, turkey etc. They have individual meals that come with sauces or you can always add your own to change it up even more. In the classic FRONT SQUAT exercise, in the deep stage, the thighs exceed 90 degrees and go lower than the knees. In order to maintain balance and not to go out of the base of support, we must move the knees forward beyond the forefoot or we must bend the torso, which is not an option in this exercise.

Common problem: Lack of ankle mobility during the deep squat.
Restricted ankle dorsiflexion does not allow the line of gravity of the bar to go beyond the foot and as a result, the exercisers will fall backward. To compensate and prevent falling backward we should bend forward, and by that, creating a greater load on the lower back.

Possible solutions:

1. Mobility exercises for the ankle: In most cases range of ankle movement will improve in time with proper exercise.

2. Performing the squat until full range of ankle movement is reached, stopping the moment the ankle reaches the end of the movement and the arch of the foot is maintained.

3. If we insist on getting even lower than the ankle allows us, another option is to perform a variation of the exercise with legs wide apart and significant lateral rotation of the foot as in the sumo squat.

4. It is possible to put an elevation under the heel which will allow them to get down into a deep squat. Note: the elevation actually covers for the "problematic" joint (the ankle) and does not allow it to adjust to the natural movement. Therefore, choose when and how much to use it, depending on your aims.
Note: As a trainer, it is not right to instruct your exercisers/trainees to adapt themselves to the maximal ranges of movement of ideal exercises. This demand simply invites injuries.
