I honestly do not remember the last time I was as proud of myself as I currently am!

I’ve been down and out for a few days, struggling to get through my day. At 7:30 this evening I decided to put on my big girl panties and start my healing.... It was LAST YEAR that I hit 125, on accident.  As soon as I knew what the weight was, I couldn’t do it again. I 👏🏼 have 👏🏼 been 👏🏼 chasing 👏🏼 it 👏🏼 ever 👏🏼 since 👏🏼 and tonight I hit it, not once, but twice! 
Then I decided to break records and go for 130....and while it’s ugly and lopsided, I. DID. IT!

Such a good workout today! I’ve been a little more stressed than usual lately, and needed another workout where I could just turn my brain off and do work. Barbell cycling is something I’ve been trying to get better at lately, and today felt decent. And then the fun part:
200m run, 27 wall balls, 27 box jumps
200m run, 21 wall balls, 21 box jumps
200m run, 15 wall balls, 15 box jumps
200m run, 9 wall balls, 9 box jumps

I actually like box jumps, and I’m starting to get better at wall balls finally!

🤺CONTROLLABLES. This is something I have been focusing on much more lately. As humans, we tend to focus on the things that we cannot control. You have no control over many of the things that happen in your life so why do we put so much time into them?
.
🧗🏼‍♀️As a control freak myself, this task is probably one of the hardest things for me to overcome. Here’s how I have learned to approach these situations:
.
1️⃣Determine what you can control. Take a moment. Breathe. You can’t prevent a storm from coming, but you can prepare for it. You can’t control how someone else behaves, but you can control how you react. Sometimes all we can control is our effort and attitude – and sometimes, that’s enough.
.
2️⃣Focus on your influence. You can influence people and circumstances, but you can’t force things to go your way. Focus on changing your behaviour. Be a good role model and set healthy boundaries for yourself. When you have concerns about someone else’s choices, share your opinion, but only share it once. Don’t try to fix people who don’t want to be fixed.
.
3️⃣Identify your fears. What are you afraid that will happen? Are you predicting a catastrophic outcome? Do you doubt your ability to cope with disappointment? Usually the worst case scenario isn’t as tragic as you might think. There’s a good chance you’re stronger than you think.
.
Sometimes acknowledging the worst case scenario and knowing how you can handle it can help you put your energy into more productive exercises to get out of it.
.
4️⃣Develop health affirmations. Phrases that tell you to either take action or calm TF down. Whenever I catch myself saying something along the lines of “I hope I get through today”, I remind myself “MAKE IT FCKN HAPPEN.” (I use the “FCKN” for emphasis hahah) It reminds me that I’m in control of my actions.

The barbell is my first love, but picking up sandbags and heavy, odd objects is a close second. Happy I got to do these in a team workout yesterday evening! Working outside in the heat lately has been wearing me out, so it’s always nice getting to workout with the evening crew! Although I still love my (super) early morning workouts when I can manage to drag myself out of bed 😜 .

I don’t lift heavy weights. 
I don’t do very well at cardio. 
I do however try to make sure my form doesn’t suffer. Be it in the box or at a competition I always try to keep my integrity and hit my movements correctly. Might not give me the best times at a competition but are points really earned if you’re just flailing about like a fish out of water just to get a good time/reps?! Each to their own but personally I’d rather do it correctly and show I’m committed to my training, being better and that my coaches are training me right 💁🏻‍♀️ Me hitting 45kg thruster in the complex of 1 clean, 1 thruster, 1 push press. @sarah_bowmar & @joshbowmar are amazing human beings that produce amazing products! Their hard work and dedication really shines through the quality of their products. Do you know what else they do? Some not so great things for the body. Now before you stop reading, I’m not saying you CAN’T wear them. Just be aware of what it is doing to your body and make decisions about frequency based on that. Tag someone who struts in those Jimmy Choos! ⁣

High heels throw off your pelvic tilt as @JannaBreslin shows here. It has to happen because if it didn’t you would fall flat on your face. They also limit the range of motion in your ankle and wearing them frequently will lead to tight, short calf muscles. Throwing off your pelvic tilt now and then is not a terrible thing. The body can adapt. So rock those heels when you wear them and don’t stress too much. Think about what you can do to limit it though! ⁣

Grab some flip flops or flats to wear while driving/traveling to the event or location when possible. If you wear heels to work, consider changing that. Swap out ballet flats when you can, or opt for a lower heel when possible. Understand that the cumulative effects are what we are concerned about here. ⁣

If you are in your 20s and pain-free it’s likely that you don’t give a damn about this message. But in another decade or two when you have back pain, bunions, and ankle issues you will wish you’d known and cared when you were younger! ⁣

What gets you to the gym when you’re tired, suffering from DOMS or lacking motivation? How do you get yourself there?

Mines sheer determination I think 🤣 after yesterday which involved alot of squats, lunges, dumbbell squat cleans & box jumps my legs were in bits this morning (Infact they still are) and I felt shattered when the alarm went off at 6am, but I dragged my tired sore body out of bed and to the gym - why? Because I knew I’d still feel better for doing it than not doing it. And I’ve never regretted doing a workout, I’ve only ever regretted skipping one.
And Im so glad I dragged myself in because I got a PB for the WOD Angie today 💪🏼🙌🏻 needless to say I’m refuelling with a huge cheese omelette now 😍

Day 821. 245 lbs lost (as of 3-14). It's been a little over two years now since the journey began and I am now embarking on chapter 2. I don't think there is any way a highlight-reel could adequately express the joy, pain, struggles, tears, growth and experiences but this will have to do. With surgery about a week and a half away, it could not be better timed. My goal was to give the journey and all of the new initiatives forthcoming a new home. There is still much to do, and it changes daily, but it's time to show you what I've been working on. The downtime will give me plenty more working time and if you take a peek, you'll see why! Fitness has become my passion. I have fallen in love with the direct connection to hard work & results. . 🏋🏻‍♀️Today I had the honor of working with CrossFit Majestic coach & athlete @phil_toon20 .

Not only did he teach me that almost everything I was doing was wrong🤭 but he completely transformed my clean & split jerk by teaching me knee position & eliminating my early elbow bend on my pull. .

If you want to become elite in any field, it is essential to surround yourself with experts in that field. .
