Are you trying to figure out why you feel this deep primal need to consume food until you literally can’t eat anymore? ⁣

There’s no ONE reason, and it’s not a black and white issue. BUT after working with people, I’ve seen a pattern. Food=safety. ⁣

We need safety over everything. We can’t function properly or at all unless we feel safe to do so. I could go on about how important it is to feel safe within ourselves and within our environment, but I’ll save that for next time...⁣

Did food make you feel safe when your parents made you feel unsafe? ⁣

Was food your agent of safety when you were scared to express yourself in school? ⁣

Was eating the only thing that kept you from going off the deep end and losing complete control? ⁣

Was eating followed with weight gain a defense mechanism to make yourself unattractive so your abuser wouldn’t want to hurt you again? ⁣

If any of this resonates (and btw there’s more reasons) .... IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. Please please let that sink in.... IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT THAT YOU BINGE EAT. ⁣

Our bodies are SO intelligent and although it’s not the most healthy or productive way of keeping ourselves safe, eating food to comfort ourselves is a survival mechanism. ⁣

There’s shame and guilt around this automatic response and I’m here to disrupt this pattern within you and within the society we live. ⁣

The food is not the issue, YOU are sure as hell not the issue, and the bingeing is not the issue... it’s a symptom of not feeling SAFE. ⁣

So i want to invite you to try and remember when you first started using food to get your needs met. What does that look like in your past? When did you start pairing food with safety? ⁣

Questa domenica ho scelto di portarvi un piatto che, in un futuro lontano o vicino mi piacerebbe fare entrare nelle proposte del mio ristorante!
Sapete che ne ho già gestito uno ma, quel sogno c'è e cresce ogni giorno sempre di più, perché l'emozione di vedere le persone assaggiare quello che è frutto della tua fantasia, prodotto dalle tue mani e partorito dalle tue capacità non ha prezzo...
Voi vedete solo le foto ahimè, ma un domani, semmai dovessero inventare un modo per sentire il profumo o addirittura il sapore di quello che c'è qui, beh, sarebbe davvero bello ma per il momento dovrete farvi bastare le mie descrizioni e la vostra immaginazione 😂
Torniamo al piatto, d'ispirazione autunnale, sapori forti e delicati allo stesso tempo e credo che sia anche molto interessante, oltre ad essere di facile preparazione!
Ho preso un buon filetto di maiale, salato e pepato l'ho poi vestito da festa con delle ottime fette di speck alto adige per poi farlo rosolare in padella, con noce di burro. Una volta pronto l'ho messo in forno per ultimare la cottura e nel frattempo ho fatto una crema di mais e patate, ma di quest'ultime ne ho utilizzato il giusto per ottenere la consistenza desiderata...
Pronto il maiale e pronta la crema di mais, ho potuto impiattare ultimando con delle chips di mela golden, che ho semplicemente tagliato sottile e passata al microonde finché al tatto non pareva compatta!
Insomma, alla fine avete visto che non è poi così difficile fare un piatto da ristorante 😊

La margherita di @spontini_pizza è un classico: rimarrete estasiati di fronte alla mozzarella filante, al sapore della salsa di pomodoro, ma è soprattutto l'impasto che rende queste pizze davvero spettacolari!

‼️ Anche se un trancio può sembrare poco, in realtà vi riempie, sarete sazi, felici e contenti! Ma se non ci credete potete sempre prendere la porzione abbondante e non ve ne pentirete! Nelle pizzerie @spontini_pizza di dimensioni più ridotte, la consumazione è in piedi, su tavoli alti per una sosta più veloce. Family dinner at the newly renovated Canton-i restaurant in 1Utama shopping mall. We ordered roasted duck wanton noodles, fried radish cake, fried beancurd, BBQ pork & roasted pork with rice and HK milk tea. Yummy! ⁣😋

I was slightly disappointed that my milk tea did not come in a nice decorated cup like last time. This cup was so plain! ⁣

The restaurant felt more spacious and not as cramped as previously. I think the glass window at the back helped. Do you like the new look? 😊

After learning about the 30 minute meal time rule - it has made a huge difference. Breakfast this morning was 5.1oz egg and mushroom omelette. I set a timer for 30 minutes. 1.5oz was left. Previously, I was taking however long I needed to finish this. Might have taken me over an hour to finish it. So glad I learned this rule! Exercise never got me anywhere, for years I cut calories, ate 6 small meals a day, avoided fat and protein, and ran on a treadmill daily. I even bought a second hand treadmill because I wanted to be able to run every day and thought if I just kept doing all of this I would eventually lose weight. Every night I went to bed thinking I’d wake up closer to my goals and yet I just gained and gained- up to 170 and 38% body fat. I felt so deprived and miserable and was obsessed with food, had a lot of anxiety and my emotions were all over the place. .
I found #Lowcarb and Keto 5+ years ago. It helped me lose 50 lbs, get off of sugar, gluten and refined grains and processed foods. 2.5 years ago I quit all sweeteners and never looked back! Being a sugar addict for so many years, total abstinence is the only way for me. When you’re a sugar addict, one bite is too much and a thousand is never enough. The dopamine dependence is so high. A nutrient dense #Keto way of eating helped me to correct all of that and replenish dopamine levels, correct so many nutrient deficiencies that I had of minerals, B vitamins, essential amino acids and fat soluble vitamins. It stabilized my blood sugar, mood and balanced my hormones all just from prioritizing real food. I have been fat adapted and a fat burner now for several years and it just keeps getting better and better! My body composition keeps enhancing towards lean mass and I’ve never felt happier or more consistently at ease. Real food truly is so restorative. And you compound results when you add in the #autophagy that comes from organic fasting and the fact that Keto is a fasting mimetic and it activates the ampK enzyme and suppresses mTOR - by keeping us more in the fasted state with lowered insulin and glycogen! Eating 6 meals a day keeps one in the FED state continuously which suppresses the natural cellular recycling process of autophagy in our cells. I’m seeing a food therapist. ❤️
I’m so ready to no longer be a prisoner of food, to learn how to navigate life’s ups & downs without the abuse of food, and to view food as fuel, not an emotional crutch.
I share this because I believe that when we admit that we are seeking help, it inspires others to also ask for help.
And because my sincerest prayer is that I’ll look back on this photo in six months or a year or ten years & be so overcome with gratitude for the girl who was brave enough to sit down on that couch & take one tiny step toward recovery.

Don’t confuse your INNER BULLY with RATIONALITY

I can’t tell you how NORMAL it is to fall into the trap of thinking you “should” be farther along or you “shouldn’t” be feeling so guilty still when you’re healing your relationship with food
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Diet mentality teaches us that you’re either dieting or you failed. One slip up and it’s all over!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Inevitably, when we start the food freedom process, we bring that mentality with us. We see a little progress, food starts to normalize, and then all of a sudden a bad day has you questioning everything and feeling like you somehow failed
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
‼️ Bad days and negative thought patterns are a necessary part of the process ‼️ because you learn something new every time you make it through
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re still struggling with food guilt or body acceptance, LET IT BE HARD! Let yourself be struggling. Accept that this is exactly where you need to be and you will get through this.

In case y'all need some motivation this Monday (cause I know I do), here's a reminder of what we're capable of. These photos are almost exactly 2 years apart. Left is November 2017. Right is November 2019. I've lost just over 230lbs. In the past few months, i've been gaining weight. I hit an all time low of 184lbs a few months ago, but honestly, i have been treating myself life crap recently. My leg is injured and so I can't really exercise at all (walking is generally painful). My brain has been in a really low place for a while. I'm trying to gey it out, but my habits take me to drive thrus trying to cure sad thoughts with ice cream. I got the gastric bypass surgery because I wanted to live my life differently. And I knew that if I kept doing what I was doing, nothing would change. I spent the first year after surgery learning about food, working on changing my habits and my relationships to food, learning about exercise, working on mental health. But, just like everyone told me before surgery, the surgery helps your tummy, not your mind. I really get that now. This idea of each meal being so difficult. The idea of being exhausted in weird ways from fighting urges to eat things that i won't fuel my body the way I want it to be fueled. I needed some motivation to get back on track, and I'm trying to use myself. I have come so far. 230lbs is a lot of weight to lose, even if i've experienced a little regain. But let me tell you, the mind is a jerk. I almost deleted these photos because i couldn't see a difference. I was like "nope, you can't really tell i'm any smaller. And i've gain weight recently so i'm basically back where I started." I also sometimes think back to how much more happy I was with myself in the photo on the left. I had food as a coping mechanism. These are actual thoughts i have. And then i use them as excuses to make poor food choices. It's crazy how the mind will manipulate itself to feed it's addiction, literally. But anyways. I'm trying. I'm really thinking about what I want for myself. I'm trying real hard to remember how I managed that first year after surgery. I'm determined to get that dedicatiom back.
