Tired, stressed, overwhelmed & anxious... Hands up if you have ever felt physically and emotionally done!

that was Emily have going through some of the most trying years of her life.

but she made a choice that gave her the kick in the butt she needed to start a positive shift that was so needed in her life.

she committed to 80 days of showing up for herself through workouts and healthy nutrition and it payed off

Whoops I can see I missed a set on single leg leg press. I lost count of my sets 🙄. I questioned myself on it too lol. It doesn't matter one bit how much you want something...

You can want it so desperately with the kind of longing that inspires tragic love songs...

But if you are not willing to pay the price and count the cost. You'll never have it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You have to be willing... are you willing??
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was a talented athlete as a child and teen and I wanted so much to be a real athlete. I dreamed about it all the time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I could never make the choice to actually commit to what it required to be an athlete... I gave up. I wanted something but I wasn't willing to pay the price for it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over 15 years later... after 3 kids... I'm willing. I'm doing something, and being someone I only ever dreamed of. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ironically now the cost is even higher! Not just the training, and eating well, resting and recovery time.. but my body is older, more damaged, I have a mortgage, a small business, a husband and 3 kids under 10! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The bigger the dream.. the bigger the cost.. but the more valuable it will be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ask yourself.. am I willing to do what it takes to get what I really want? or am I just going to dream about it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Redefine yourself.. your healthy starts today.

R E A L I T Y
The realities of working out with a toddler:
- As soon as you start they want something they didn’t beforehand (hence me leaving the picture for food, water, food) - They will cry for your attention so you’ll need to change your exercises. Don’t stop, just change! - Once you stop they will walk away and play and act like you don’t exist 😂

I knew I needed to do a workout and move my body today even though Scarlett hasn’t been letting me do anything except hold her hand or cuddle her. Which as a mother is endearing at times but can be frustrating. So I needed to do something for myself and that was this workout!
30 mins and I’m in a better mindset for it which means I’ll be better mum/partner!
Get moving today! Feeling down, upset, frustrated or stressed? I promise doing a little something whether it’s a 15 min walk or home workout, you’ll never regret it 💪🏼♥️💪🏼♥️💪🏼♥️ #fitmummas #25weeks #health

Fun sunny warm training session today... certainly don't have the feel for it yet, but laughing a lot while I try!

We discovered that my 5 step full speed throws were only going about 4m more than my standing throws... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does that mean? I'm not transferring much of my speed or power into the throw at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is far from ideal.. but the positive I guess is that once it comes together... hopefully it'll fly!!!

😋 PRAWN, ASPARAGUS AND AVOCADO SALAD⠀

A delicious spring salad🥗⠀

| INGREDIENTS |⠀ 500g Prawns, peeled and deveined⠀
4 cups baby spinach⠀
1/4 fresh parsley, chopped⠀
1 bunch asparagus (approx 20 spears)⠀ 1 avocado, sliced⠀
3 green onions, sliced⠀
salt and pepper, to taste⠀
1/2 DRESSING 👇🏼⠀

| DRESSING | ⠀
1/3 cup olive oil⠀
2 large lemons, juiced (approx 1/3 cup juice)⠀ 1 tsp Dijon mustard⠀
1/2 tsp honey (or maple syrup)⠀ 1-2 garlic cloves, minced⠀
salt and pepper, to taste⠀

| METHOD | ⠀

Bring both a medium pot of water and a medium sauté pan of water and to a boil. Add the prawns to the pot and the asparagus to the sauté pan and cook for 2-3 minutes. Use tongs to transfer the prawns and asparagus to an ice water bath. Drain and then slice the asparagus into 1 1/2 inch pieces.⠀
Add the prawns, sliced asparagus, baby spinach, avocado and green onion to a salad bowl. Add the dressing, season with salt and pepper and toss it all together.⠀

Legs/booty finisher. Banded Bridge abductions and banded bridges 4x10+10 and I added the 10 sec hold on each set. Feet up the wall makes it harder and you get that booty burn going 😁😁👍. I hit a new PB 100lbs/45kg for lat pull downs narrow and wide. I am stuffed. Forgot to set my watch for my walk but got it done. Incline 5, 30mins speed 4-5. I have trained most of this week. I've said it before, we are the greatest role models to our children. Whether we do right or wrong, our kids are always watching, always listening and always learning from the things we do.
Showing our kids how to be active, how to live healthy and how to love their bodies as they are is so important to me as a mum but also as a personal trainer. Although over the last few months I have fallen back in love with skipping as an activity to assist in fat burning and to improve my cardio vascular fitness. ⠀

Nourish & Flourish Fitness

Anyone who knows me, knows that exercise isn’t my “thing”. Since having Beau I’ve become incredibly aware that I want him to grow up with a healthy attitude towards life and exercise, I want him to get the best out of life and the way to do that is to set the example. January 2018 I did my first ever Fit Mummas session, I was 5.5 months post baby and had zero fitness. Now I can run a lap of an oval, swing a 12kg kettlebell (bring on the 14kg next week💪) and do a push up on my toes 😂
Today was such a proud day, with my workout partner Fern, we completed this workout with 60 seconds to spare! We used to be the ones who couldn’t finish a workout or would finish last. But today we did this together and I know we both are so incredibly proud of not only ourselves but the other amazing women who got out there and got it done! #fitmummas #nourishandflourishfitness #strongmummastrongkids #strongmummas #womensupportingwomen

Bit of hump day progression .
Same swimsuit , 5 months difference.
Oct 2016 to last week March 2017.
Muscle growth doesn't come easily or quickly , especially when my body and metabolism make it difficult to put on fats/muscle. Also , being in my second trimester has also made it hard to work around , I've had to lighten my weights and change my exercises to cater for this big belly and beautiful baby growing. But I'm starting to feel more comfortable with the workouts I'm doing.
Muscle mind connection , hard work & a shit tonne of calories later and my booty is FINALLY starting to look like a booty 🙊

A slight incline along this country park was nothing to me and my dad but it was George’s little mountain on this walk.
.
It took us an age to walk a short distance with him and he was being his usual stubborn self - determined to walk and not go in his buggy🙄
.
Question - Are you even a parent if you haven’t experienced the reluctant toddler rage that occurs when you ask a child to get back in the buggy?! Full on wrestle mania moves required to strap them back in, arched backs, murder-like screeches and a sweat fest later you get them back in!! Makes me stressed thinking about it.
.
Anyway, this pic got me thinking about the different struggles we face and the way we think about what we want to achieve. Basically, don’t compare your fitness journey to anyone else, including mine. In the same way George struggled up this ‘hill’ whilst we were going painfully slow. For you, your ‘George hill’ might be doing 1 workout or starting to use weights or completing a 21 day programme but then for me my mountain is totally different - simply because I’m at a different stage of my fitness journey. We all are.
.
Remember, we have start somewhere, someday and comparison can be paralysing, you can literally stop yourself from doing something because of someone else ‘s progress. And we can’t be having that!
.
Ps - I have to remind myself of this too when I see fit Mumma’s all over Instagram.

14 weeks today 😊 the first trimester hasn’t been the easiest, one word that describes me (even still now) is exhausted. So sorry for the lack of posts recently but it hasn’t been my main priority. 💜 I’m constantly knackered, my energy is at all all time low, walking up stairs gets me out of breath, I need to nap most days and fall asleep by 9pm, I have no strength whatsoever, a 2kg dumbbell feels like a 20kg dumbbell and all I want to do is sleep and I’ve felt sick all day every day, luckily haven’t actually been sick (up until this morning 🤢). But I can honestly say that I have never felt happier than I do now. I truly don’t care how tired or crappy I might feel, the feeling of growing a miniature human inside of me overtakes all of that and I’m on cloud 9. The gym has taken a major back step for me, and has done for the past 9 weeks or so. I just don’t have the energy or strength for it and I’m just going to listen to my body. When I get a burst of energy I will do a shorter less intense workout with a hella lot lighter weights but if I feel exhausted I’m just gonna rest. I couldn’t care less about how I look at the moment so the gym isn’t going to be for that anymore, when I get enough energy to get back to it, it’s just going to be to keep me healthy. The aim is to keep as fit as I can during this pregnancy as I honestly think that is so important for myself and for bubs as well as for labour and my recovery. So hopefully give it a few more weeks into the second trimester and I’m hoping my energy starts to come back a bit as I literally love working out 🤓

All the blood sweat, tears and depression I put behind to transform for myself & family. It has been rough but I was determine to look BETTER THAN BEFORE I had my sweet angel. The first pic I weighed rough 200lbs. I was depressed, I didn't go anywhere not even to the gym. I worked out at house or parks where no one could find me. My tummy was darker bcuz I just gave birth w/ stretch marks. The pic on the right I no longer have any stretch marks and my color is back to normal.I am happy, I am closer to God and my faith. #WCW goes out to MYSELF! Each and everyday I motivate myself. You wasn't with me when I was squatting in the gym!!! All the blood sweat, tears and depression I put behind to transform for myself & family. Read: Honestly guys I don't even know where to start...First I just want to thank God for putting his faith, love & allowing to remain consistent with my fitness goals. It has been rough but I was determine to look BETTER THAN BEFORE I had my sweet angel. The first pic I weighed rough 200lbs. I was depressed, I didn't go anywhere not even to the gym. I worked out at house or parks where no one could find me. My tummy was darker bcuz I just gave birth w/ stretch marks. The pic on the right I no longer have any stretch marks and my color is back to normal.I am happy, I am closer to God and my faith. Trust me guys this journey was not easy but I over came most of my struggles and my journey is just beginning. I am heading to the end of the road being postpartum and I am grateful for everything God has put me through. Ladies this is a REAL postpartum body. Don't let social media tell you otherwise. 16 weeks today and bump is definitely growing 😊 I love noticing the little changes and it still amazes me at how much our bodies change in such a short period of time, truly is amazing and I find it so interesting learning what’s happening and why. I’m into the second trimester and the sickness is still there but I’ve started physically being sick a lot more in the last few weeks, whereas before it was just constant nausea. Acid reflux is definitely a thing at the moment too. 🤢 I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster with my emotions, every little thing makes me teary and I cry at the most ridiculous things- if I see something cute, if I see someone else upset, if I see something sad, if I’m too tired, when I think about the cats missing their fluff parents 🙈, at my weird dreams, if there’s loads of people in a small space, when I see an ambulance and realise someone must be really ill, omg the list goes on- so never be mean (or too nice) to a pregnant person.. they may cry. 😂 My energy levels haven’t got better yet and I’m still knackered and just want to sleep 89% of the time 💤 but I still couldn’t be happier. Excitement will always take over any other feeling as well as gratitude. I will never take this bubba for granted. ❤️ Excited for what’s to come and hopeful of getting some oomph back soon to get my butt back in the gym, the main thing I am missing! 😊 I’m always listening to my body and I’m not going to push it as my priorities have well and truly changed. 💗
