🐳🎂 Face to Face Friday 🐳🎂 My youngest baby is 1 today! If you would have asked me on his birthday July 19, 2018... what I would want my life to look like on his 1st birthday,  I would have said.. I pray I'm in my 140s and still sober! Well folks... with hard work and dedication to recovery, Jesus and keto I DID IT! I give all the credit to CONSISTANCY AND PERSEVERANCE! Why this time? I still ask myself.. why didn't I give up yet? The answer always comes back to knowing these 4 kids need a mom that loves herself! If I neglect me... ultimately my entire family is screwed. Being the homemaker is insanity! So if I can do it.. so can you! So grateful for another full meaningful day. Looking forward to the farm themed party for my baby boy tomorrow. Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said : “O Abu Dharr! When you fast three days out of a month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth.” (Tirmidhi 761)

It was narrated from Jarir bin 'Abdullah that the Prophet said:
"Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and the shining days of Al-Beed, the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth." (An-Nasaa'i 2420)

According to UK moonsighting tomorrow is 13th of Dhul Qada, so commences the 3 white days. .

I almost forgot about @lizketobunny @bellybully.us_official #bellybullyfast next week until I got this box in the mail just now. This is probably the best timing for a week long fast for me too! #carbcycling is down to 5NC starting Sunday, which is my BF's birthday. We'll be having steak and pork belly since I want to stay away from carbs. Then come Monday I start my #waterfast. I'll most likely incorporate one or two of these a day with my water. Can't believe this came just in time and it's motivating me to stick to this fast even more! Count me in on this fast Liz!

Updating about the 3 day no food juice only fast I did. First things first, that was THE dumbest idea 😂 I pretty much made myself sick by doing this fast. Now I've done many fast and for long periods of times, but never have went without eating anything for so long. The first day was fine, the second was even ok, until the end of the second day and I started getting hungry because everyone in the house were chomping down on real food and the smell alone had me hungryyyy!!!😛 but even so I made it through the second day. Then on the third day I woke up with an ugly headache, then I started feeling dizzy and kind of off as the day progressed. At one point I felt super nauseated. I started getting shaky and at that point I had to ask myself why was I really doing this fast. I felt terrible, but for what real reason?  It didn't help I had to go to work. So I thought I need to eat, but before I  decided I battled with myself thinking this made me a failure.  My body wasn't doing what my mind was ready to do. I learned one lesson. Being healthy is more important than starving yourself to get to a goal faster. I had to come to terms that I couldn't finish the day out. Even after I ate I still felt bad in my body. It took a couple of days to feel normal again, but now I'm ok! They can have that juicing thing. It ain't for me dawg 🙅🕵

There's something g seriously wrong with me lately. I literally could not stop eating today and even late last night. Actually, this whole month seems to be messed up for me. I did so well last month but this month has been rough. I've attempted long extended fasts many times only to quit halfway through and then end up binging on keto snacks and sweets. What's wrong with me? Just an off month for me? Can I blame this on #mercuryretrograde? 🥺🙏 I need help! I just need to just stop eating.... My cravings have gone haywire since my period and my family gathering this past weekend. Maybe it's the carb cycling challenge and not having enough carbs. Ugh! It feels so defeating to see all my hard work from last month go down the drain. @choczero #almondbark bars are my kryptonite. I can down a whole bag of these without a second thought. I need an intervention! 😫😫😫 This is definitely battle with my brain. I'm so used to eating that it overtakesmy will to fast. I need to become mentally stronger. I'm feeling pretty determined to do well in the last week of the month so I'll be doing a water fast for 7 days! It's mind over matter right? 💪Please help me to keep myself accountable, I really need to finish this month with a win, no matter how minor.

The difference a haircut makes eh? Haa!! ...Photo on the left is me at my heaviest in adult life taken around 3 years ago. I have tried every diet under the sun and never seemed to drop below 19 stone. It was like it was impossible!! Photo on the right was taken today. I have been on keto for 4 months now and the weight has fallen off me!! I am now just over 15 stone and still losing fat (just the last of the beer belly to go!) this is the lightest I have ever been in my adult life and I feel amazing!! I love keto!!! •

Won’t lie and say it’s a walk in the park because right about now the last thing I want to eat is another egg (I rather fast & drink electrolytes) but I needed to do something to break this stall and IF wasn’t cutting it. Today I saw the scale move so I must be doing something right. A special thanks to @breetiki_keto for helping me understand this egg fast, I’d probably be starving if it wasn’t for her advice. 🤘🏼

I’m trying to make the most outta LA before I move to NYC!!! I swear I’m sooo stressed about moving omg 😭😭😭😭😭

A new article on time-restricted eating is live!

The article discusses the difference between time-restricted eating and intermittent fasting, the metabolic benefits, effects on muscle mass and exercise performance, longevity, how black coffee may affect time-restricted eating, and more.

While time-restricted eating has an intermittent fasting component to it since all food is consumed between 8-12 hours, it also has a circadian rhythm component to it. The circadian rhythm component suggests that food intake
can activate peripheral clocks, such as those found in the gut, liver, pancreas, muscles, and fatty tissue. This affects metabolism in those organs. For example, insulin sensitivity is better earlier in the day compared to later in the day. Men eating the same meal throughout the day had lower postprandial blood glucose levels in the morning compared to the evening.

There is also some very new human evidence that resistance-trained females who followed an 8-hour time-restricted eating window and fasted for 16 hours per day did not experience skeletal muscle atrophy. Rather, they experienced muscle hypertrophy and performance similar to women in a control diet group who ate all their food within a 13-hour per day period. Notably, the two groups' dietary intake were similar in energy and protein content.

There has been a lot of interest in how black coffee may affect the peripheral clocks in the liver and gut. In short, it is unclear whether black coffee restarts the clocks. The article dives deeper into some of the science on that.

- It’s been a lot easier than I would have thought. The first two days I felt hungry now and then, but not after that.
I was even tempted to go on, but decided to do a seven day fasting next time instead. 
It’s amazing how easy we can improve our health. 
Better immune system, lower inflammation, increased libido, weigh loss, better and less wrinkled skin, simply take years of our age 😜

Happy Wednesday everyone! This is throwback best friends edition:) This is my best friend Kelly, or Peas🖤 we got dubbed as Peas and Carrots when we were young because we just go together that well, thanks Forest!! She has been my best friend for 22 years and is one of my rocks. One of my biggest supporters. When I’m having a tough day and need someone to vent to, this woman is always there!! We all need a Kelly in our lives:) especially during this kind of journey. A support system is crucial for us. Sure, we could do this all on our own but it really is nice to have that outside support sometimes. Setting up a group of people to help keep you accountable is a great tool everyone! They help keep you focused, keep you going and keep you positive along the way. If people are trying to bring you down during your journey, put some space between you and those individuals. This is a form of self love! Boundaries are a form of self love! You do not owe anyone any part of you and if they aren’t being supportive, kindly, remove yourself from the situation. Put some distance there. Find your tribe!! There is a great tribe right here, and over on my Facebook group (linked in my linktree in my profile) that will lift you up and keep you going! This journey isn’t easy and it’s crucial to have a little support.🖤🖤 you got this everyone:)
