Participation rate or frequency of exercise is highly influential in your exercise outcomes and success. Participation rate is effectively guided by a number of factors including training age, type of exercise, occupation demands, health status, diet and energy balance, and timelines for performance requirements. Not considering these factors in exercise planning can lead to excessive delayed onset muscle soreness, bone and muscle loss, a decrease in performance, depression, anxiety, and loss of sleep (it is a big list...), negatively impacting upon your journey and the outcomes you achieve. Some of these negative impacts are better known than others, so I will focus on the lesser known two being training age and energy balance in the next two posts.  This post will cover exercise planning, structure, and monitoring of your participation in exercise. Often, at the start of a new exercise program when enthusiasm is high, it is tempting to exercise faster, longer, and heavier. This can result in symptoms already mentioned leading to a reduction in exercise enthusiasm. Often as exercise enthusiasm wanes participation rates drop, adherance to habits that support exercise slacken, your results slow, and often folks don't see a program out. This occurs when there is a lack of structure, planning, and monitoring. Notice how problem solving is not even mentioned yet? You cannot problem solve without monitoring daily demands, energy balance, and frequency. 
So, get some structure, plan for your daily demands, and monitor your progress. This all takes practice so be patient with yourself, never quit but reflect instead upon what has been mentioned here and ask yourself 'what can I do better' and move forward with that.

So good to see the sun ☀️ again today, perfect for my training run. 
It’s been a long time since I have ran a 1/2 marathon so it kinda feels like starting all over again even though I go for the odd run ( actually more like a jog)

I am just taking it slow & giving myself heaps of time to train with my goal being to get a better time than the last one I did 10 years ago.... With age not on my side but being in the best shape I have ever been it will be interesting to see the outcome 🤔 
Too many times I have seen people make the decision to get fit and healthy, and go all out at once. They clean out all the crap food out of their cupboards, drink heaps of water and start working out like crazy!
Result? Loss of momentum & burnout - the quick results they may have seen won’t be possible to maintain & more often than not you end up back at square one.

If you work slowly but constantly, you will succeed.
For example on our 30 Day challenge some people need to ease their way into it so they may start with the ‘Breakfast club’ where they will eliminate foods for that meal for a few weeks and get an awesome healthy start to the day. Then when they are ready include more meals. 
Making small changes that you can maintain & then build on will mean you are much more likely to reach your goals. 
Finding healthy substitutes for snacks is also a good way to make a big difference to your nutrition. It means you never feel like you’re missing out and you start developing new eating habits that last a lifetime. 
The same with exercise, ease into it, put it into your calendar, put your gym clothes on and get out the door before you have time to argue with yourself about why you shouldn’t do it. And get enough sleep 8-9 hours, an incredibly important factor in being a fit and healthy human being! 
With that in mind I’am off to bed, I have a goal to reach x

Wow! What a great #NonScaleVictory When I started this thing I could barely fit in the booth at Zaxby’s. In fact I had to squeeze in. Tonight, while my Wife and I sat down to enjoy our grilled chicken salad, I was delighted to find that I not only fit, but fit comfortably.

My favourite kind of class is feel good, sing out loud, eccentric, giggle along, FUN! But while I might be a bit of a loon, I take exercise seriously. I’ve spent 8 hours in the pool this week planning and plotting workouts to burn maximum calories, activities that challenge the core, raise the heart, working around the body for total fitness and then arranging the exercises to feel good music, so we can work harder for longer, hopefully without quite realising it!  #results #exerciseresults #fitnessinstructor #aquageek #weightlosstransformation #weightlossjourney #holidayinnruncorn #weightlossupport #Runcorn #elton #helsby #halton #widnes #aquaenergy #foresthills #frodsham #norley #kingsley #cheshirefitness #joinme

In terms of stress and weight gain, a 2015 study of a group of women found several negative results if one or more stressors were reported the day before.⁣⁣

Everyone can come up with excuses on why they can't reach their goals... I didn't have the time to workout today... I didn't get to eat lunch so I stopped at McD's because I was hungry... My mother sent over a cake and I couldn't let it go to waste.

Whatever you excuse... It doesn't matter. If you want to get the results you crave, you need to get rid of all the excuses. Only then will you be on the right path and achieve your results.

Also thought i’d post some results to show how im getting on. The left photo was taken last year and the right was taken on 2nd February - one month after starting keto as well as exercising regularly using insanity. Just cant even believe i was that bloated & uncomfortable!! SOMETIMES... The stripped down exercises are often the most effective.
☀️
The clam or as I prefer to call it, the shark 🦈 is about as basic of an exercise as you can do...BUT don’t think for one second that means it’s easy!!
☀️
In fact, in order to make this exercise highly effective for your lateral hip muscles you need to be very technical & methodical through the movement.
☀️
Most importantly you want to keep your hips ‘stacked’. I like to keep one hand on my hip to help feel & control for any rotation.
☀️
As you slowly lift your top leg (keep the ankles together) you are ONLY going to the point where you feel your hip want to rotate (tip backwards), stop & hold for 1-2 seconds, then slowly lower back down.
☀️
Trust me if you are doing these in a controlled range of motion, you are going to FEEL these!
☀️
Try 2-3 sets of 15-20 per side.  As you progress and are able to increase sets or reps, you could add a mini-band just above your knees for added resistance.
☀️
Your glutes will thank me...eventually 🤣
