surprisingly crowded at @bouldermovementsg today! not that i climb here on saturdays very regularly. thanks @chermsssss @chileepaperz for the company and the videoing on the long routes!! videoed the fluxchallenger routes that i couldnt flash, and one scary custom just for kicks :p

1) fluxchallenger purple, thanks @banana.eating.machine
for the split beta!

2) 34 with a weird throw from pinches to the ball. the next tile though is the best jug in the WORLD

3) white project that a tall guy just spanned the end but he had a tougher time in the middle.
4) black challenger that saw span issues cos my right hand couldnt reach the volume if going regularly so once again, its that weird phenomenon of toeing something, crossing over using the hand thats actually further away, that actually worked.
5) custom that actually included the white crimp to make life easier but jingwen proved that you dont need it. that slip in the middle though.. my toenail was the only part that stayed on the tile LOL

Endorphins are our bodies natural pain relief, in fact research has shown them to be 20-40 times stronger than #morphine. Research also found that for #women who don’t use pain medication during labor, the level of endorphins continues to rise steadily through to the birth of the baby, and also a sharp drop in endorphin levels with use of pharmacological pain management.

When endorphin levels are high during #labor and #birth, it can produce an altered state of consciousness and #euphoria that can help you deal with labour and birthing your #baby, even if it is long and challenging.

To combat Winter blues you have to Keep On Moving
I know that daily physical activity may already be a struggle, and adding another obstacle in the form of cold and unfriendly weather can really annihilate your motivation.
However you should know that a quick walk will boost your mood by increasing your endorphins, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin levels. Just plug in your headphones and walk for 15 or 20 minutes a day around your neighborhood.

It’s SO frustrating being injured. Out of sheer desperation I’ve taken to morning “power walks” to get my heart rate up and keep the endorphins flowing. And while I’m bleak that I can’t be on my bike or getting a run in, it has reminded me that sometimes it’s good to just take it slow and admire one’s surroundings. (Sometimes 😆).

You are used to see pain as a “danger detector” so feeling pain gives you an indication that something is wrong.
The Judea Christian concept of the pain of labour being Eve’s punishment for her sins in the garden of Eden dominated much of recent history. This concept has little to no place in the modern thinking.
The purpose of pain is labour is evolutionary: it makes labouring mammals seek for a safe place to give birth, hide from enemies and draw support to them.

Modern midwifery writers have proposed a “working with pain” paradigm as opposed to the “pain relief” paradigm.

The working with pain approach says: when labour is progressing normally, with support and encouragement, birthing persons are often able to cope with the pain they experience, due to the production of the body’s natural pain-relieving opiates, endorphins.
The brain produces pain. This means that you have the power to increase or decrease it.
Typically, fear and tension increase the pain while support and encouragement in an home-like environment, freedom of move and use of water immersion reduce it.

I saw these sculptures on a trip to Canada and was so amazed how these rocks were so precariously balanced yet somehow managed to stay where they were. Nothing was holding them in place except their position in the space. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Squeezing exercise/ movement into our week can feel like a challenge and finding the time for it is difficult. But when we do, all other aspects of our lives can become easier. Our stress levels decline, we sleep better, we tend to eat better and we generally feel good as our bodies love to move. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is there something you can shift, or reposition to allow more time for movement in your life? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Exercise and anxiety

Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment. It relieves tension and stress, boosts physical and mental energy, and enhances well-being through the release of endorphins. Anything that gets you moving can help, but you’ll get a bigger benefit if you pay attention instead of zoning out.

Try to notice the sensation of your feet hitting the ground, for example, or the rhythm of your breathing, or the feeling of the wind on your skin. By adding this mindfulness element—really focusing on your body and how it feels as you exercise—you’ll not only improve your physical condition faster, but you may also be able to interrupt the flow of constant worries running through your head.

Exercise and anxiety

Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment. It relieves tension and stress, boosts physical and mental energy, and enhances well-being through the release of endorphins. Anything that gets you moving can help, but you’ll get a bigger benefit if you pay attention instead of zoning out.

Try to notice the sensation of your feet hitting the ground, for example, or the rhythm of your breathing, or the feeling of the wind on your skin. By adding this mindfulness element—really focusing on your body and how it feels as you exercise—you’ll not only improve your physical condition faster, but you may also be able to interrupt the flow of constant worries running through your head.

@runtalkrun is for

the people who have been told by their GP they’re now on an 8month wait list for therapy - we are the “in between” while you wait

the people who think other running clubs are scary af, way too competitive and #CoOl and just want a chilled space to come and just be yourself, no false pretences

the people who don’t think they’re “ill enough” to get professional help, but they’re definitely struggling to some degree and need some support

the people who have to work mega hard to maintain GOOD mental health

the people who don’t get on with the “sitting down” space to talk about feelings and shit

Run Talk Run, ironically and selfishly, was for ME. For all of the above reasons. Now my mission is to share that space with as many people who need us. We’re here for you.

I can certainly agree with these findings. Before I started lifting I was feeling really low, unfit, and struggled to get out of bed in the morning to get stuff done!
I now realise my thoughts were often quite negative too and that surely had an impact on how I conducted myself and interacted with others. I believe I might have had postnatal depression (yes, I'm a mum!) and, as it often happens, it was never properly diagnosed. .
