Those of you who are current #FWTFL clients will know that Cowboy Butter Chicken was on my weekly dinner plan for last night. BUT, then there was a hankering for a burger...so plans changed!

Planning doesn't mean you can't still be flexible. It also doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice your #macros for the day. I was able to make a couple of quick adjustments and still enjoy a giant grass fed burger along with some amazing roasted brussel sprouts with bacon. And yes, I still had a killer #lowcarb day!

Now don't worry, the Cowboy Butter Chicken is now on tap for tonight. It's one of my favorites so I couldn't possibly skip it!

Chicken in a lemon rosemary wine sauce 😋

I’m improvising a bit and using chicken thighs with skin. I’ve stuffed a little butter with chopped fresh rosemary under the skin to give it a boost of flavor and bump up my fats for the day.

11 weeks progress

@bulgerhunter got started 11 weeks ago looking to lean out and improve his aesthetic. A bit under 3 months in and he is where he wants to be. From here, we are turning things around and going to start adding more calories in slowly so he can maintain his new lower bodyfat percentage while working to build.

We leaned out with a pretty straight forward carb cycle (with a few free meals and some drinks on the weekend), and as we work to fill back out, will be feeding the specific body parts he is looking to improve.

A ketogenic diet does not mean you have to slave away cooking all the time!!! I personally love to cook sometimes, but there are days like today where I am tired and just dont feel like making complicated recipes. Today I chose some preseasoned Tuscan peppercorn chicken thighs and 2 bags of frozen broccoli. I added olive oil and sea salt and am roasting it all in the oven. This diagram is one of my favorite references to show my clients!!! -

I don’t always eat low carb but when I do I make it delicious!! Thank goodness I learned how to carb cycle so I can fuel my body and have the best of both worlds. I lived a low carb lifestyle for about six months. It was certainly a quick fix but for me it just wasn’t sustainable. I personally love fruit, potatoes, rice, and oatmeal, just to name a few way too much to live without!! I found myself slowly slipping back and gaining even more weight than when I started. I had to make a change. So a year ago I said yes to joining the FASTer Way To Fat Loss with my cousin @chazzerfit and fell in love. I get to eat more and work out less than I have my entire life. I found a surprise on the jar lid! 🌶
I was putting pepper rings in my low carb Tuesday tuna salad at lunch time and saw the underside of this lid. I’ve been eating this brand for about a year and never noticed the saying before. Has it always been there? Is it a new thing? Or am I simply oblivious??💕💕 It made me smile . It sums up how I feel. I truly have food freedom and joy living the FASTer Way. Great marketing for the win @mezzetta 💕💕

Progress over Perfection, if you are apart of the FASTer Way you know that’s something we talk about a lot. I’m gonna be the 1st to tell you, that concept has been the hardest to implement in my own life.
When fitness is your job friends, family, clients and social media look to you to be perfect. That’s a lot of pressure. So for the last 15 years I rarely gave myself a break. On vacations I workout, I eat on plan and I don’t miss a beat. I know there is always someone watching.
The FASTer Way 21 day sugar detox happened to fall right in the middle of my 40th Birthday Get-A-Way. I had a plan! I can vacation and have my Birthday weekend without sugar 😬 right?? Well that plan didn’t go so well. Turns out Breckenridge has some pretty cool places to try. For the 1st time in 15 years I enjoyed memories over macros 💕. I had sugar 🍪 a few times 😜

Tomorrow is a new day and I know what I did this weekend will not effect me long term. Tomorrow I will continue where I left off with the rest of the FASTer Way community. For the 1st time I truly embraced progress over perfection/ memories over macros and I don’t regret a second of it.

Low carb days can be challenging for me, especially when I am not home to be able to make a good hearty breakfast. I find that if I prep some egg muffins ahead of time and have them in my refrigerator or my freezer, I am setting myself up for better success. It is easy to grab, heat up and pop in a container to go! It doesn’t hurt that these are something my entire family enjoys to eat. I added a bit of jalapeño to some of them but, usually only put in half so my kids can enjoy the others!
Ingredients
12 eggs
12 slices of precooked bacon
1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup shredded cheese
Jalapeño (optional)
Directions: Serves 12
Heat oven to 350.
Grease cupcake tin thoroughly
Whisk eggs and milk together. Cook bacon in microwave for 1min. Add shredded cheese to egg mixture. Take cooked bacon and line each cupcake tin with a slice of bacon. Poor minutes in tin and cook for about 20mins. Store in fridge or freezer. .

Fall is my second favorite season of the year — Spring (“Good-Riddance Winter!”) is #1. One of the things I look forward to every Fall is a weekly stop at the University of MN Landscape Arboretum Apple House to see which new apple varieties have been harvested to eat that week. Fall would not be complete without enjoying a Baked Apple with cinnamon & spices, warm Apple Crisp just out of the oven, or some fresh Apple Butter! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!⁣

Apples are my favorite & most frequent “whole food” fruit snack. Honeycrisp is my #1 choice, followed by Sweet Tango and Granny Smith. As the family “chef” I appreciate how versatile apples are in recipes — the variety of sizes, textures and flavors — and that most can be served either hot or cold. As a dietitian, I love that apples are a classic example of “whole food nutrition” — lower in calories and rich in phytonutrients. ⁣

Did you know … The proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" has been traced to 19th-century Wales where the original phrase was "Eat an apple on going to bed, and you'll keep the doctor from earning his bread". In the 19th & early 20th century the phrase evolved to “An apple a day, no doctor to pay" and “An apple a day sends the doctor away”. The current phrase was first recorded in 1922.⁣

💥 There’s several different strategies one can use while carb cycling; however, the simplest and most applicable method is known as, “Fuel for the Work Required.” Essentially, with this method, you plan your carb intake based off of your training. Make your high volume leg days your high carb days, upper body days = moderate carb days, and rest days = low carb days. Doubt stops a lot of us from trying something new I know am guilty of it but sometimes you just have to go for it get out of your comfort zone most of you know if not all but today marks a year since I had back surgery boy did that hurt and suck but I am thankful for the the support i had form my parents and my family especially Brittney having to physically help me out of bed and shower and all that other stuff sucked that really hit me hard I gave up and I doubted my self afterwards on everything till the end of April of this year what really hit me was hearing my son tell me is ok dad I know your in pain that really hit a nerve i finally asked Brittney for Help and she did she’s an amazing woman I am glad to call her my wife thanks to her, Le, Lesley the Faster Way process And especially Johan I really appreciate all of y’all.... You guys know am not the type to go on social media and post my whole life but were I am at now to were I was back then is called “progress not perfection “am thankful for the people that have been helping me physically mentally and all that good stuff-so don’t doubt your self just take a chance and go for it whatever ever it is........✌️✌️✌️ — feeling blessed with Brittney Salinas and Salinas Ramos Car.

I know it seems odd in my feed to share a random lunch!! ( cause we supposed to make everything cute up in here!!!😂) but I’m just a hodge podge of life here🤷‍♀️, little bit is this & that!!

⚖️Cause I am determined to get healthy and shed this weight that I’ve gained over the past 2yrs! So I’m going for healthy! I’ve done it before and damn it I can do it again!! So I’m following a new plan, which I will share more when I see how it goes ) tracking macronutrients based on each persons body - what I need in protein, carbs, fats.
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting, which I love, I’m not even hungry in the non eating window and takes the stress out of trying to make myself eat, and carb cycling ( more later)
I have a coach who teaches us everything so no worries there and the stress is off trying to lose it fast, I’m just taking baby steps to learn it all & implement it.
I really want it to stick. I’ve done so many other things that I’ve never been able to change my life for permanently, like I like 🍺🥂🍫🧁🍟🍔 way too much!!
I really want to learn to lose the weight and balance it all and still enjoy treats and wine of course!!!

I know it seems odd in my feed to share a random lunch!! ( cause we supposed to make everything cute up in here!!!😂) but I’m just a hodge podge of life here🤷‍♀️, little bit is this & that!!
So anyway why am I sharing this boring yet yummy meal!!
⚖️Cause I am determined to get healthy and shed this weight that I’ve gained over the past 2yrs! Best place to be held accountable, right here!! 😉So please at anytime check in and see how I’m doin’!!! And 2 I get so overwhelmed with what to eat, when, how much, What latest thing to try keto 😳, high protein 😳, low cal😳. You get the idea!!
So I’m going for healthy! I’ve done it before and damn it I can do it again!! So I’m following a new plan, which I will share more when I see how it goes ) tracking macronutrients based on each persons body - what I need in protein, carbs, fats. 
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting, which I love, I’m not even hungry in the non eating window and takes the stress out of trying to make myself eat, and carb cycling ( more later)
I have a coach who teaches us everything so no worries there and the stress is off trying to lose it fast, I’m just taking baby steps to learn it all & implement it. 
I really want it to stick. I’ve done so many other things that I’ve never  been able to change my life for permanently, like I like 🍺🥂🍫🧁🍟🍔 way too much!!
I really want to learn to lose the weight and balance it all and still enjoy treats and wine of course!!!

Back to macro tracking today and it’s been ok, not perfect but ok.

The weather has got so much colder and darker... more autumnal 🍁🍃🍂 and I’m craving warm comfort foods.

I started my day with a bowl of warm oats made with semi-skimmed milk and @myproteinuk natural vanilla whey protein powder, topped with thawed fruits of the forest (microwaved for 1 minute) and @pipandnut cherry bakewell almond butter 🍒
Lunch was a wrap on the go, in between meetings. Made with a seeded wrap, light mayo, gouda cheese, turkey breast slices, sliced avocado & lettuce.

For dinner I had 2x pork loin steaks with root veg mash, veg & gravy.

DUDE! Save me a beer 🍻! Losing 100 pounds & becoming a world ranked competitive eater wasn't easy but it has certainly been a ride and fun af! .

How did I do it? I took the first step and stopped being so fat and lying to myself. I changed my nutrition which now I can tell you is my biggest and toughest fitting puzzle piece that changes ALL the damn time! From @leancuisine to now eating one meal a day mainly carnivore style like @bigstrongfast does (CHECK HIM OUT) and then training every Saturday for competitive eating and @youtube and @facebook videos .

Super easy and simple meal. Take a @cheesefolios wrap and layer with all your favorite toppings. ⁣

I layered mine with avocado mayo, whole grain mustard, lettuce, turkey, bacon, avocado, & pepper rings. ⁣

I paired my wrap with macadamia nuts, pickles, and blueberries.⁣

If you have a hard time getting your fats in on a low carb day this is a great way to get them in! ⁣

This meal has 62g of fat, 32g of protein, and 7g net carbs. Enjoy!

Straight out of my Nutrition Coach curriculum. Be cautious when doing Keto diets. They are meant to help people with Neurological disorders like epilepsy or Tourette’s syndrome to name a couple. Just an FYI for some side effects from it. 12 weeks. That’s the time difference between the pictures. 😳You know what else is 12 weeks? That’s the time we have until we start making those New Year’s Resolutions...again. ⁣⁣⁣🥂🎉

The photo on the left was taken in Hawaii the week before I started the FASTer Way. Looking back, I didn’t really know why I was doing workouts or trying to cut carbs, just that I should be doing it. After going through the FASTER Way, I learned the what, why and how and I realized I found a plan. (one that incorporates carbs) 🤗 A plan that I stuck with and was consistent with then and now. I didn’t just register for the program only to be done with it after my round ended. If I had quit, I would only go back to where I was when I started. Changes don’t happen overnight. It takes time, effort and the right mindset. I put in the work and I was committed to it and here I am a year later still living the lifestyle. ❤️ ⁣⁣

Allow yourself to make mistakes and live your life, but stay consistent and don’t quit. You have to put in some work if you want things to change and realize that you aren’t going to be perfect. You’re going to mess up here and there because that’s life. 🎤 I have good days and less than stellar days, but I consistently show up and put the time and effort in to making this my way of life.⁣ During my first round of the FASTer Way, I went on a Disney Cruise where the food is all inclusive and available 24/7. Thanksgiving was also right before the picture on the right, so I definitely wasn’t perfect and I never felt the need to be. Forming good habits doesn’t have to be all or nothing!⁣⁣

On average, it takes 2 months for a behavior to be repeated automatically and 3 months to be on your way to cementing a lifestyle. We have 3 months left in the year. 👊 New Year’s will be here before you know it, so let’s work on making progress and establishing good habits now to set you up for success when it’s time to make that list of resolutions.⁣⁣ 🍾❤️

I can’t believe I’m actually posting this but here it goes!

The picture on the left was taken 3 years ago. I was at my highest weight, 170. Luke was 6 months old and I had not been exercising except for a little walking. Since I knew Luke would be my last baby, I thought eating whatever I wanted was a great idea since I was nursing as well....but I felt horrible! 😔
6 months, a new state and a new house later, barely anything changed. I finally took the plunge and joined @burnbootcamp I loved the intense workouts and weight started coming off slowly but surely. But I was stuck 15 lbs away from my goal. Why?! Now I know it was my eating (and drinking) habits.
💪
Then, after MUCH persuasion from my friends and doctor...I tried intermittent fasting and carb cycling. Suddenly my last few pounds were actually coming off. I was getting abs, actual ab definition... at 39 years old!

Then an injury rocked my world. I had horrible pain running down my leg, sciatica. The worst part was that I learned I caused this myself, by not stretching. My muscles were so tight, they were actually pulling my spine. I was devastated.

The time I usually spent exercising was now spent looking at @fasterwaytofatloss posts. I knew I had to be a part of it! I took the plunge and joined @krisbmills In July for a round of FASTer Way. My mind was blown by the education, community, flexible nutrition and gentle workouts I could do while injured. My sadness turned into gratefulness.

See that photo on the right?! That was me two days ago. Even after being injured, I have surpassed all my goals! This is because of FWTFL.

I love this idea!! When you are fasting and eating a clean, ketogenic diet, your body composition changes. You gain lean muscle (which weighs more than fat). The scale may not move, but you still may be shrinking!! I dropped 2 pants sizes without the scale going down but a few pounds!! -

This is an old graphic I have posted a couple times because I think it’s message is important.

In this study participants followed keto, then went low carb, then followed a Mediterranean diet and repeated. As you can see from the chart they continued to drop weight for the duration of the study with the exception of the minor increase during the first Mediterranean period.

This study demonstrates a few things.
-
1️⃣ You do not have to stay keto forever
2️⃣ You will not gain all of the weight back if you stop keto
3️⃣ Points 1 and 2 are dependent on how you come off the diet.

When you follow a ketogenic diet you can restore your metabolic function. For some that can mean a better ability to utilize carbohydrates, meaning you may not have to stay keto forever. That doesn’t mean coming off keto is for everyone, but for some people who have a hard time maintaining strict keto, it may be a great approach.

The fear of rapid weight regain when coming off keto needs to be properly understood. The stories of people gaining a ton of weight within a couple days of carb reintroduction is not all fat gain. That is your body retaining more water from increased insulin levels due to carb intake. However, rapidly reintroducing carbs and overeating them for an extended period of time after keto may result in fat gain in some people, but this can be mitigated by slowly reintroducing carbs when transitioning off keto and continuing to maintain a lower carb approach.

To plug the Keto Answers book, one of the many resources in the book is our exact recommendations for how to come off of a keto diet if you so choose to.

Note: I have followed a keto diet 95% of the time for the last 4 years because it works for me and I love the way I feel. This may be the case for many people. But for those of you who don’t like long term keto dieting, I believe this post is important for you!

GARLIC BUTTER CHICKEN BITES WITH ZUCCHINI NOODLES🔥

Recipe
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized chunks
4-5 medium zucchini, rinsed and spiralized (or a pack of store-bought Zucchini Noodles)
4 tablespoons butter, divided
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon hot sauce (we used Sriracha)
1/4 cup (60ml) low-sodium chicken broth
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon minced parsley
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
Crushed red chili pepper flakes, optional
Slices of lemon, for garnish
Marinade
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon hot sauce (we used Sriracha) or 1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoons Italian seasoning
