I’m posting this photo with a sense of humour because I have been a very busy woman. So busy in fact I let my mental health go completely down the drain. I forgot to take care of myself and that caused a whirlwind of problems. I just want to keep it short and simple and let everyone know that your physical and mental health are more important than anything else. You need to take care of yourself first whether that means slowing down, taking a break, talking to someone, getting some exercise. It doesn’t matter. All that matter is that you take care of yourself because you can’t run on no fuel for very long. I’m speaking from extreme experience here guys. working out: for me working out has helped a lot, if you’re ever feeling down the gyms probably the last place you want to be but that burst of positivity and energy you get after a workout feels so good especially on a bad day. it’s also a great way to spend time with people and meet new people. it took me months of trying until i was actually able to set foot in the gym but it’s one of the best things i’ve done 💛 always here if you need someone to talk to 💛 #mentalhealthawareness #imasurvivor #positivevibes #positivity #breakthestigma #iamenough

This is because they are insecure or feel that we are try to make them or their organization look bad. The new Mental Health America report just came out and it’s clear, we are in a crisis. “Sadly, our report shows that our children continue to be in crisis,” said Paul Gionfriddo, president and CEO, MHA. “We must continue to improve access to care and treatments, and we need to put a premium on early identification and early intervention for everyone with mental health concerns. We must address these mental health concerns before crisis and tragedy strikes—before Stage 4.” But if you are anything like us, and need to find the hope in the pain, here it is a glimmer of good news!

I’ve debated whether to post this all morning but it just strengthens my point exactly. Today I came across a heart aching article by a celeb that shared her story, and what stood out the most was “..I felt like I was being stupid dwelling on something that was nothing..” So many women suffer in silence and even worse, think they’re not entitled to grieve. Miscarriage awareness is close to home for me and is absolutely life changing no matter the situation. I’ll always be grateful for my friends and family who helped me manage my loss.
The severity of the pain does not depend on how long you carried your baby for.

#breastfeedingootd 🤱🤱🤱Someone said in my company this past weekend, that it's the glam Moms you should watch out for, they're likely to be the ones actually suffering depression, they know how to paint on a smile. So I am glammed up, because I want to feel good, I've grown up hearing the saying, dress well to feel well, and it works for me so I do. I have suffered my fair share of depression, and when I need to I do and have in the past turned to medication. I put the effort into my outfits because, just like running, and make up, it helps blow away those cobwebs, and keep me in a positive mind frame. These are just some things that help along with, or in place of anti depressants, depending on what state my mental health is in at the time.

Stop competing against yourself 👊🏼 This is something I have to remind myself daily. If you think that some Coaches don’t struggle with this, you’d be wrong. I do struggle. I beat myself up constantly for not doing ‘enough’ and constantly compare myself to others. I know I shouldn’t but I do it.

BUT

Knowing this, acknowledging it and recognising that I do it is what helps me STOP IT! I feel like I’m constantly walking a mental tightrope between being happy & proud of my training efforts and feeling like a failure. I have to make a conscious effort on a daily basis to stay on the right side of that line and not fall off the cliff face into a sea of negativity. If I complete 90% of my training for the week, I will beat myself up for the 10% I didn’t do, rather than be happy with and celebrate the 90% I did do.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I want you to know that not everything is always sunshine and rainbows like is portrayed on social media ☀️🌈🦄 My life is not a highlight reel and I struggle. I doubt myself. I put myself down and give myself a hard time. But you know what?! I’m human. I’m a work in progress and by accepting this, I’m able to become stronger and grow 💪🏼💜

Being HeadStrong isn’t about having all the answers and being OK every single day. It’s about having problems, struggles, worries and accepting them and becoming stronger for it. It’s recognising that stuff in yourself and using it as strength to move forward and grow. By recognising that you’re struggling and being OK with it makes you HeadStrong. Its being real.

Thank you @blhcrooks for the reminder! 🙏🏼 During training you should be doing just that. TRAINING and PRACTICING! Not competing. Stop competing with yourself. Stop competing against others. You do you. I’ve taken this approach to my training the last few days and I tell you what...I didn’t half enjoy it a lot more! 😍💪🏼

Knowing this, acknowledging it and recognising that I do it is what helps me STOP IT! I feel like I’m constantly walking a mental tightrope between being happy & proud of my training efforts and feeling like a failure. I have to make a conscious effort on a daily basis to stay on the right side of that line and not fall off the cliff face into a sea of negativity. If I complete 90% of my training for the week, I will beat myself up for the 10% I didn’t do, rather than be happy with and celebrate the 90% I did do.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I want you to know that not everything is always sunshine and rainbows like is portrayed on social media ☀️🌈🦄 My life is not a highlight reel and I struggle. I doubt myself. I put myself down and give myself a hard time. But you know what?! I’m human. I’m a work in progress and by accepting this, I’m able to become stronger and grow 💪🏼💜

Being HeadStrong isn’t about having all the answers and being OK every single day. It’s about having problems, struggles, worries and accepting them and becoming stronger for it. It’s recognising that stuff in yourself and using it as strength to move forward and grow. By recognising that you’re struggling and being OK with it makes you HeadStrong. Its being real.

You do you. I’ve taken this approach to my training the last few days and I tell you what...I didn’t half enjoy it a lot more! 😍💪🏼

DEPRESSION is a bitch of an illness. People who don't suffer, often don't understand it. Some still don't accept it as an illness, when it's one of the biggest and increasing epidemics on the planet.
.
It is a huge part of who I am, why I manage my life the way I do and who I choose to spend my time with. Whilst I don't blame people for their lack of understanding, I have stepped away from people because of their inability to accept it or show kindness during lows.
.
I have had friends who have shamed me for my 'behaviour' during depressive periods and once - when I was extremely vulnerable and shared just how dark things were and asked if they could come and 'help me', the earliest time slot they gave me was over three weeks later. Needless to say, I stepped away from this person's 'friendship'.
.
I am extremely grateful to have a select few people in my life that get it. That accept the darkness as part of me, but know it is not me. They know it will pass and love me despite the low waves. These days it comes a lot less, but when it comes, it still comes. Sometimes it lasts a few days. Sometimes a few weeks. But it always passes.
.
There are no words to describe how grateful I am for the ones who make it clear they are there. The friends that understand that these phases are of me, but not me. They don't judge me. They check in - even if it's with a string of emojis to try and break the spell and show that they care.
.
A woman jumped out of my building last Saturday night. It reminded me just how lucky I am and was a clear reminder as to why we need to stay connected. Always.
.
Reaching out to say hi and check on how someone is doing, takes a few seconds of your time and can mean more to someone than you could possibly know.

Yesterday...Usual bowl 🥣 of yoghurt, honey 🍯 & flakes for breakfast + a café au lait ☕️ & then went on the usual morning beach 🏖 stroll with Ryan.
Another sun lounger day 🌞 (although I didn’t sunbathe much because I’m photosensitive & also cautious of sun damage)
Had a vanilla Fortisip with my cereal bar for lunch. 👌🏻
We went into Corfu town last night, so we didn’t have dinner at the hotel - I snacked on a banana 🍌 on the coach though & tried a pumpkin spice macchiato ☕️ when we got there.
Attempted dinner at a restaurant..didn’t end the best though.
I ordered vegetable linguini for some bizarre reason 🤷‍♀️ (not really knowing what it was apart from it being some kind of pasta 😂) - it was spicy 😭 & I can’t cope with spice, plus...it was like spaghetti & all the veg was mixed in & I don’t like peppers or onion & it also had that on top of the fact that it had mushrooms (I like mushrooms, but it’s not recommended for those with IBS 🤦‍♀️ because .. bloating).
So although I felt like I’d been eating for a while...when I couldn’t cope with any more (because the stress of trying to eat linguini/spaghetti) it barely looked like I’d eaten as much as I had.
I tried, but after..it was busier..it was darker..I didn’t know where we were..I had blisters & was battling the anorexic thoughts on top of now feeling incredibly bloated & this self-conscious & so my mood just totally floored. There was far too much ASD stimuli as well! 😭
Anyway..we went back on the coach & I went to bed. 💤
Hoping today is much better. I do feel much more calm this morning thankfully, so we’ll see how today goes...

Today has been such a bad day.
I have been in such a panic, feeling trapped like I couldnt breathe, my anxiety getting the better of me.
I am full of regret because the panic got the best of me and I was binging. I am feeling horrible since after 15 days of restricting. I seriously don't know how to break this cycle.

“Almost ten years ago I had my last suicide attempt that almost ended my life. I was in immense pain and had become numb, isolated, and could see no future or way out. I could never have known all of the beautiful things that I would experience and see or the awesome people I would meet or the countless hours I would spend laughing and singing and dancing and loving. I didn’t know that I would find yoga and teaching and astrology or that I would get to move to Washington, DC, spend lots of time with my family and at my brother’s basketball games, or use the most painful and what were shameful parts of my experience to try to make the world a better place for people like me. I didn’t know that I would find similar people, that I would overcome fears and trauma, that I would one day stop numbing with things like alcohol and bulimia. There have been plenty awful things and I’ve dealt with suicidal thoughts since. But the depth and intensity and love that I have experienced since then make me grateful beyond anything I could imagine that I made it here today with the help and inspiration and support of others. I don’t know where you are today and don’t want to make assumptions about your experience.
