Struggling to keep the weight on the bar up for squats now the calories are getting lower. Still trying to push the same weight for the same reps but my legs aren’t letting me 👎🏽 but not long left on this cut until I start a lean bulk and get stronger 👍🏽

Volume week 5 🏋🏻‍♂️.
Hit all my numbers on squats and bench this week but my last set of deadlifts got the best of me with just managing 4 @ 170 and finishing the other 6 @ 140. Not bothered though, if my hand wasn’t damaged I’d have managed it alright with mixed grip but stupid torn callus from the previous week meant doing them double overhand. Happy with that grip as I didn’t use straps 😁💪🏼

Deadlifts 4 x 10 @ 170kg
5th set 4 @ 170, 6 @ 140
Bench 5 x 10 @ 85kg.

Zach and I recently switched gyms and I’ve been having the worst anxiety about actually going inside and working out (anybody else get anxious in new settings?). I sometimes can't fathom how far I've come with my fitness progressions.
I started as a small 145lbs boy, I couldn't bench 135, I had a lot of anxiety going into a gym as small as I was. To me, it was an embarrassing stage of my life being as tiny as I was.
I met a lot of people that helped build me to the man I am today. A lot of people always giving me criticism and critiquing my form, giving me advice, ect.

I'll always stay humble knowing where I started and how far I've come.
145 to 198.2 currently.

So here’s the good news....I’m not 434lbs any more (yay 🎊)...but here’s the Bad news...I still have to lose 40lbs (yikes🤦🏾‍♂️) to get to 197lbs to compete in my first ever bodybuilding show (Classic Physique) . As of this morning I’m 237 lbs at a height of 5 feet 9 inches. The problem is that I’m trying to preserve as MUCH muscle as possible while dropping this fat and I’m starting to think that dropping to 197 lbs will take away my precious muscle I’ve worked years to build. So, do I drop down to 197 lbs and compete in Classic Physique where I MIGHT have a fighting chance, or should I just drop down to 5% - 6% body fat and compete in open bodybuilding where I will for sure get SMOKED 😂? Y’all let me know please. Thanks. .

Progressive overload is the ability to do more over time. This can be done by changing 1 or more variables in your strength training program such as load, range of motion, volume, etc in order to continue making progress 💪🏼 Believe it or not, your body can and will plateau and adapt to the physical stress you place on it over time. That means you need to change things up, but not too often, in order to continue chasing those gains 🍑🙃 I suggest doing so every 4 weeks!

If you’re new to the gym and new to lifting, you’ll probably be able to get away with doing a less structured training program and still see some progress. But if you’ve been lifting for a while, it’s important you are following a structured program that repeats exercises with the intent of implementing one or more of the variables above 👆🏼
