Back on my bullshit after a week hiatus. Work, sickness, and the curse of womanhood has kept your gurl busy! .

Anyway, deads tonight 205# at reps of 8 had me feeling like this was cardio, which is a great sign for me! Felt confident to try my hand at 300# again, but my hamstring said, just wait it out child, wait it out. I am definitely feeling the not lifting for a week...I growled after I was done with my tension goblet squats😤 .

Needless to say, it felt good to throw the weights around💪but I must die now⚰😵

DYNAMIC EFFORT LOWER

Today’s training sesh was a grinder!! Leveled up to the gray bands on camber bar box skwaats and used all the heavy chains on speed pulls. Worked up to a new 4RM on deficit deads of 445 lbs. That shit was a fight! Thanks to the skwaad for the tips, hype, and support! Let’s get this bread!

Feeling great after tonight’s workout! Deads 5x5 at 455lb/207kg and Tempo Larsen press at 225lb/102kg. Deads moved great and left some in the tank for next week! Tried to get a 3-0-3 tempo for each Larsen press, and overall happy with the tempo.

When people are looking for instant gratification, skinny teas, endless cardio & crash diets become quite popular.⁠

Most will see results at the beginning, simply because of the law of thermodynamics but most results are only temporary.⁠

The number one biggest flaw with every “quick fix” is that it does not teach you any real healthy skills or habits to help you deal or adapt with everyday life.⁠

I mean it’s easy to cut out sugar for 30 days, but what happens after that 30 days?⁠

Moreover, when you reduce calories, or go from one diet drastically to another, the faster you drive the higher the risk of you crashing. ⁠

The body doesn’t know that you only want to lose 10lbs, all it senses is a massive caloric deficit or a drastic change and it needs to press the “emergency button” immediately.⁠

The sad truth is that people don’t get fat over a couple of weeks but over years of overeating & constant dieting plays a huge role in this outcome.⁠

At the end of the day we are our own worst enemies, whether that’s thinking that these supplements are the answer, or if you can just cut sugar out for 30 days, you’ll never want it again but when we’re running around blind, or jumping from “fix” to “fix”, we will never learn the fundamental tools for successful achievement of our goals.⁠

This then leads to the “fuck it” mentality - you fall off for a couple weeks, find other quick methods- those fat burners must be the real deal, or maybe you go keto - you love carbs, but “anything in the name of losing weight!”⁠

So you try, you fail > feel bad & judge yourself > end up more restrictive > which then leads to the whole process starting over with the only difference that you’re taking more extreme approaches every time.⁠

So, STOP DIETING.⁠

Even if you still have a weight loss goal, I can guarantee the best approach for anyone who is lost, jumping from “fix to “fix” is to just stop dieting and turn your focus to recovery & strength.⁠

So, if you’re sitting there and at all stressed about what to do let’s chat about how we can help so that in the future, you can diet in a healthy way and sustain those results with little stress or worry.⁠

First real squat session since before starting the academy, nothing impressive here. Battling my way back to the competition platform. 315 moved very well for a double, it's going to take some time to get back to where I was but after today I have no doubts in my left leg. I've been battling injuries and setbacks since before the academy. Then when i started the academy i stopped powerlifting all together because i was worried I'd make my injuries worse and get recycled at the academy. It's back to the grind ladies and gents.

First real squat session since before starting the academy, nothing impressive here. Battling my way back to the competition platform. 315 moved very well for a double, it's going to take some time to get back to where I was but after today I have no doubts in my left leg. Time for another episode of Friday night squats for some time I've been dealing with a thorn in my side lower left hand side to be exact the muscle is knotted up constantly and painful so choices are stop lifting lol or figure out what's going on . So tonight was all about technique stayed right around 50 % of 1rm and shot all angles to keep an eye on things sometimes in life you've gotta decide to either quit or fight also added split squats at the advice of @breaking_dad.bod I totally suck at them so I'll be doing them every leg day from now on when your strong I'm strong #veteran #82ndairborne #ironrebelarmy #sbd #squatbenchdeadlift #silversaiyan #silverback #oldmanstrength #cliftonspringsymca #consistency #powerlifting #squats #deepsquats #powerlifter

Dynamic effort tonight on lower body. Started with 10x2@195+ chains on the cambered bar, then did some deadlifts 4x3 @318. Did switch grip on first deadlift video, then continued with my hook grip on my second video. My thumbs are still in tact so there's that😜! Then finished with a WHOLE lot more fun leg workouts🍑

Ending the 10’s week with conventional deadlift dead-stops 5x10 @ 1st 3 sets belt less & last 2 sets with belt. 📹 of sets 3-5 at 265, 275 & 285** **I got 7 of 10 reps on set 5, my calf started tighten up and I couldn’t recover to finish the set 😢. Deadlifts this afternoon, I went for a PR of 290 didn't get it off the ground so just dropped to my Max of 280, felt almost impossible today as you can see I about hit tha Flo 😂🙈 then finished with 3x2 245, now for a deload 😂 bw 56kg

💥💥OBLIQUE SLING ✔️💥

Try this advanced chest press .  Essentially you’re combining the single arm & single leg raises. This bench variations as well as the half-body off protocol into one incredibly challenging chest press variation. it’s also one of the most brutal core exercises you’ll ever perform as it absolutely crushes your obliques & transverse abs as well as your rectus abdominals.

Lastly, if you have poor foot and ankle activation you’ll know almost immediately as you’ll find it quite difficult to maintain your balance for more than a few seconds.  In fact, the only way you can reach equilibrium with your body on this movement and find a stable position is by producing perfect foot & ankle alignment. With that in mind this is an incredible foot & ankle exercise provided you’re able to lock your position in and stabilize your body. Another successful week of rep tests in the books! Results were
Squat: 305lbs for 7
Bench: 215lbs for 6
Deadlift: 415lbs for 8
My GoPro kicked the bucket so no videos this time 😢. Next month going for new 1RM for each lift! Side note: Can CARSA please get 45s that aren't hex or bumper plates? It makes pulling anything over 400 very annoying.

Last week of 8’s, hit 235 for 10 out of the prescribed minimum of 8 reps

Followed up with some paused wide grip bench for doubles, narrow grip bench for max reps, and banded cable push downs
.
Tested a few new setups, first with the banded cable push downs. Started out as a way to stabilize the weights from swinging, and ended up adding banded work, which was a plus. Then tried out my new safety pin and pip landmine fabbed up upon my request by @logankazz . Worked like a charm for both rows and overhead presses. Should also work for belt squats and a bunch of other stuff. Pretty excited about this one

I’ve also been slowly plowing my way through a box of mince pies all week and I’m somehow 84kg again. I’ve been dominating 3500kcals a day and constantly hungry. Nom sayin. .

Today was hard. Physically- my body is pretty wrecked. Mentally and emotionally I’m even more wrecked. Did what I had to do, though. 250# beltless ascending pause squats x 5 didn’t quite feel like RPE 8 so I did 260#. My body and mind were not in agreement on how heavy things felt today. Tried to bench 185# x 5 today on the buffalo bar, and got like 4.75 reps. Not sure if it was my mind or my body that gave up. Either way, my body and my mind need rest. I have a couple days to do that before I have the opportunity to get stronger next week. Blessed to be able to do this, even on the hard days.

Worked up to a triple at 315 on last night’s pause squats. 285 for a double on bench and Romanian deadlifts at 365 for 12 before this. I can’t explain why but the two or three days following Romanian deadlifts, squats actually become way more comfortable. I had to keep the weight down a bit to save my back after deadlifts but they felt much better than the past few days surprisingly.

I recently started and created a 12 week powerlifting block. These are 2 clips from my day 1 earlier this week. It's a 4 day per week program allowing 3 days rest where you feel necessary and its built on standard percentages in regards to your 1 rep maxes. If you'd like to try out my mini program I wrote it out for you below for free. You're welcome! I'm interested in any feedback for whoever is willing to try it out. Let's get it🔥👊.

Squat + Bench 7 sets of 3 @ 85% 1 rep max 4 min rest
Seated Row 4 x 6 Heavy 2 min rest
Curls 4 x 10 2 min rest

Day 2:
Deadlift 4 x 4 @ 75%, 80%, 85%, 85% 1 rep max 4 min rest
Leg press 4 x 8 @ 60%, 65%, 70%, 75% 2 min rest
Touch and go Pin Press with bars 2 inches above chest 4 x 8 @ 80% 1 rep max of flat bench press 2 min rest
Side lateral raises 4 x 12 1 min rest

Day 3:
Squats 4 x 4 @ 75%, 80%, 85%, 90% with 3-4 minutes rest
2 second paused bench press 5 x 5 @ 80% 1 RM with 3-4 min rest
Weighted pull-ups 5 x 8 3 min rest
Shoulder press 3 x 8 @ 85% 1RM 3 min rest
Curls 4 x 10 2 min rest

Day 4:
Bench Press 5, 3, 1 at 80%, 90%, 95% 4-5 min rest
Deadlift 4 x 6 @ 75% 1RM 3 min rest
Incline dumbbell bench 4 x 8 @ 80%
Side lateral raise 4 x 12
Skull crushers 4 x 10

Increase weight every 4th week using it as a test and rest week on bench, squat, deadlift and repeat for 3 cycles. .

1x black coffee =
100kg paused squats for 5 and a mother fooking PB!
90kg nakey knees for 5 also a PB!
Really wasn’t feeling this session today but I dragged myself in and did it anyway

And I am happy I did!

Ich will jetzt gar nicht übertreiben und so tun als ob die norddeutsche Meisterschaft im KDK für mich mein Lebenstraum wäre.... Allerdings sitze ich hier gerade bei meiner Family und darf nichts essen und trinken bis zur Waage morgen. Daher ist der Spruch mit den Palmen so soo passend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

C’est une information qu’on retrouve sur les réseaux mais je la fait circuler car on me pose encore la question 🤓

Si tu vois ton entraînement en musculation comme un moyen de bruler des calories, je pense (c’est donc mon avis) que tu n’as pas la bonne approche. Le but de cet entraînement est d’engendrer une stimulation musculaire. + de muscles = meilleur shape = mais surtout augmentation du métabolisme = tu peux consommer + de kcal (pour le même poids) ou consommer le même nombre de kcal et donc perdre du gras 🙌

Je simplifie mais c’est l’idée 💡

Avec la musculation tu vas donc augmenter ta consommation de kcal ; tout le temps même quand tu n’es pas à l’entraînement (c’est l’énorme avantage de la musculation !!). Tu vas passer d’un moteur de la clio de ta grand mère à celui d’un Airbus. Tu vois la différence de consommation ? 😉

Et la perte de poids, de gras, se fait via l’alimentation avec un déficit calorique ! 📊

Mon conseil : arrête de chercher l’exercice qui te fera brûler plus de kcal ou le type d’entraînement qui te fera plus te « dépenser » c’est une vision très court terme. Tu ne peux pas toujours être dans une optique de brûler à l’instant T des kcal ❌

A la place augmente ton métabolisme 🚀

Et en parallèle quasiment tous tes facteurs de santé vont s’améliorer 💁‍♂️

I posted before about it being a good idea to do a heavy set, such as a single at 90% of your 1RM (basically 1 rep with your 3 rep max) prior to dropping down the weight to perform your moderate rep range work; as this can enhance neuromuscular efficiency and allow you to express your strength fully. There’s also research showing that doing this can also help you do more reps when you drop the weight back down.

Have you ever worked up to a really heavy squat and then went back down say 50-80lbs? It felt really light when un-racking right? This could potentially be one of the reasons as to why it seemed to work.

More research is needed to confirm the findings. But with that said, if you have good technique and are willing to spend an extra 10 minutes in your squat workout to eek out some extra reps on your lighter work, I say give it a shot and see how you respond. Remember to rest though! The subjects had 5 minutes of rest time before doing the first set of 70% squats after doing PAP; if you don’t rest, it won’t work. This is also a good way to build/maintain some top end strength while focusing primarily on aesthetics, endurance, or what have you. #strengthguide
