Hello Sisters.... Welcome to #yogaperiodpractice !!! Through this series i will be sharing my practice during my period, and sharing some tips and info with you about this critical moment of the month for all of us!!!! Common question some people ask!!! Is It Dangerous To Practice Yoga While You're On Your Period?

My answer : No, You just need to listen to your body!!!!! 🥰

First of all period is no reason to avoid physical activities, more so for yoga which helps with both physical and mental health and thus has a positive effect on your hormonal health.
We women due to monthly hormonal changes are more prone to emotional disorders and practicing yoga regularly helps minimize the effect of hormones on your mood ( maybe not always 😂) So my advice is, listen to your body. Any lack of motivation or discomfort is probably your body telling you to take a few days off and if this is your case:
1. You can Meditate
2. You can practice Pranayama
3. Turn on the music and move freely (as i did here on my video)
If you feel the most in tune with your body and heart at this time of the month.

So blessed to have God making the provisions needed in my life for me to be the Changemaker he’s called me to be. This week I had the honor of speaking in Washington DC about the importance of expanding Mental Health resources, specifically for college campuses across the United States

As the founder of a non profit that is closing the gender dream gap to reduce teenage suicide and due to my professional role as a Health Policy & Transformation Leader for Kaiser Permanente I have been invited back to DC to further develop the idea of expanding access and to co-design innovative ways of addressing mental health needs along with other industry experts in early 2020

Like most other pageant titleholders this is more than a pageant platform, It’s my life’s work. It is what God has called me to in this season and I will not rest until adequate progress has been made. I’m feeling pretty good about where I’m headed and for that reason, today I am my own #wcw

Mask on mask off.. The debate as to whether filters are good for the mental health is becoming a hot topic along with the use of social media.

Are we indirectly changing our behaviour and perception?
I guess like many things only time will tell but there is enough evidence to show that they are unhealthy.

On World Mental Health Day here are my Top 10 Tips for Enhancing Your Emotional and Mental Health

Apply these tips on a daily basis:

1. No man is an island. Having positive and healthy relationships with others plays an important part in psychological health.

2. Keep your body healthy. Poor physical health can result in difficulties with mental health. The better you feel physically, the better you’ll feel psychologically, too.

3. Regularly challenge yourself. If your life lacks any challenge, create some. Develop a goal and strive to meet it.
4. Learn how to deal with stress effectively. Activities such as exercising, spending time with a friend, or reading a book can be healthy options for lowering your stress.

5. Spend time each day on an enjoyable activity. It might be playing the piano or taking your dog for a walk. It doesn’t matter, as long as you concentrate on things other than work & necessary routines.

6. Practice the art of forgiveness. Anger and grudges accomplish little. They put you in a vicious mental cycle that degrades your sense of well-being. Every second you’re angry or upset is a second you’re unhappy.

7. Give your time to others. Helping someone in need is a great way to boost the way you feel about yourself. It’s also a great way to meet others that are also caring and giving.

8. Learn how to quiet your mind. You mind rarely gets a rest, not even while you’re sleeping. All night long you’re likely tossing, turning, and dreaming. There are many ways to rest your mind: praying, meditating, and practicing mindfulness are just a few.

9. Ask for help. If you break your arm, you seek medical assistance. If you’re having a psychological issue, there’s no reason not to do the same.

10. Keep a journal. Recording your thoughts on paper after a long, hard day is therapeutic. It releases tension, provides a means of catharsis, and can give you a different perspective. - -

Today is world mental health day and another opportunity for anyone in need of support to reach out.
(TW-careful) This month I’ll be 2 YEARS incident (self harm) free and I NEVER thought I’d be getting to this point. I was astounded when I reached the 1 year milestone but now I’ve doubled that. My heart breaks for who I used to be and the struggle of every single day. Internal battles are still daily and they’re still draining, leaving me exhausted without having to move, but now I make sure I win. I love every scar on my body but that last one, the worst one, I love the most. A constant reminder of how far I’ve come 🌿 please never think that you’re hopeless, nobody is. Your mind gets tired after a hard time just like your body after a marathon, it needs some time to recover because it won’t function to its fullest capability when you’re running on fumes. Please allow someone to take the weight off your shoulders for a little while, reach out, day or night. People care and nothing would be the same if you weren’t here 💚 #worldmentalhealthday #mhawareness #mhday

i normally wouldn’t post most things along these lines, but if you talk the talk, you should walk the walk. anyone who knows me personally would know i believe in ending the stigma around mental health and seeking help.
i have personally struggled with anxiety for many years, and last year (after many attempts) i finally got into seeing a counsellor when possible and also starting trying out meds to see if it would help. sadly, getting better isnt a linear progression.
about a month ago i found myself feeling extremely depressed. i had experienced these kinds of isolating thoughts before but never into the extent i was feeling. i didnt feel compelled to try at school, i was rarely eating, i avoided the kitchen, i was scared to be alone. i eventually decided i really needed help, so thanks to my wonderful friend @jenna_eli, who has always helped me, i went to the hospital. i spent 2 weeks on the mental health unit, got a psychiatrist, and started on meds to help not only my anxiety but depression too. i finally felt heard, i was seen as more than just a girl who stressed too much about school, my feelings were validated.
now im back to school, and trying my hardest to be open and honest with those around me. trying to be better, and letting things take time. i am thankful for all the love and support i got when my mind was telling me i was a burden and i was all alone, i can never fully thank my friends and family 💛
never be afraid to reach out. i know sometimes the help won’t come fast enough, but please stick around. you are important, loved, and totally worth it.

Lo chiedi ogni tanto a te stessa/o?

I swear, I'm doing my best to get excited about food again. Case in point I chopped and roasted almonds, come on. But just got zero appetite going on. Never in my life has it ever happened and it's not so much fun. I wonder if this is what life without bulimia is gonna be like. Ahem. First world problems, I know. I'm sooo happy that bulimia seems to be gone. And I'm still recovering from the sickness and on antibiotics so that also explains the lack of appetite I guess.
But it's annoying because it means I have no desire to really cook or bake or even flip through cookbooks 😭 and IG posts about foods make me go ughhh. So weird. 🙄
Anyway, will still eat as much of this as possible. And I guess I'll have a light dinner cos it's already 3:20pm. 😳

Today is World Mental Health Day. It celebrates awareness for the global community in an empathetic way,
with a unifying voice, helping those feel hopeful by empowering them to take action and to create lasting change.

The 2019 theme is #suicideprevention. To help prevent suicide we need to look at 1. the prevention of mental illness, 2. promotion of good health, 3. reduction in the stigma associated with mental illness and 4. improved access to evidence based mental health care.

On 26th May'19, @globalshapersnewdelhi organised 'Let's Talk. Period'. From a panel discussion that brought together a cross-section of practitioners working on Menstrual Health, to an exhibition featuring artwork and books on period-positivity, and more, the evening was a small step to mainstream #MenstrualHealth on the occasion of #MHDay 2019.

Leading up to the event, the hub members conducted interactive workshops using tools developed by @Menstrupedia, with nearly 200 young girls enrolled in Delhi Government schools.

Von der berliner Organisation @washunited 2014 ins Leben gerufen, wird jährlich, der 28.Mai dem Thema "Menstruations Hygiene" gewidmet. Warum? Weil Armut, fehlende Bildung und mangelnde Sanitär-und Hygienestandards viele Frauen* und Menstruierende daran hindert, sich während ihrer Periode in der Öffentlichkeit zu bewegen, was den normalen Alltag extrem beeinträchtigt. Arbeit, Beruf oder Freizeitakitivitäten während dieser Zeit nachzugehen, ist eine Herausforderung, wenn man keine Hygieneprodukte hat, oder eine Binde 24 Stunden halten muss, wenn es keine Toiletten gibt, kein Waschbecken, kein Wasser, dafür Ausgrenzung, Stigmatisierung und Scham – dann wird das Blut zum Problem. Konsequenz ist eine soziale und berufliche Benachteiligung - durch eine Körperfunktion, die sich niemand ausgesucht hat. Und aus diesem Grund ist die Periode nicht nur ein "Frauengesundheits-Thema", sondern eins, das die gesamte Gesellschaft betrifft. Wenn Menstruierende* ausgegrenzt sind, es ihnen an Bildung und Einkommen fehlt, sie nicht ihr volles Potential ausschöpfen können – dann ist das Problem nicht persönlicher Natur, sondern hat weitreichende Konsequenzen für das sogenannte Humankapital! Hey people, it’s Menstrual Hygiene Day! Did you know that a large number of states tax period products because they aren’t considered “necessities”. At the same time, items like chips, Mardi Gras beads, BBQ sunflower seeds (?! what) rolled up fruit candy, Viagra and Rogaine.
I’m all about tax free menstrual products (and menstrual products available in public restrooms, especially schools). For people who menstruate, tax can add an additional burden on the already high cost of these products.
