What’s difference in all these photos?!! The 1st one is my gainz today, eating way more carbs & barely doing any cardio. The other oneS were taken over the last 6 months. I feel like my arms finally got some size to them! I weigh the same and my body fat is a little bit lower. This why I meal prep! Because since I’ve been doing this I seen process in my gainz. Good gainz! I Maintain a healthy weight! It’s help keep me on track throughout the week. It’s not always easy. Mentally you have to build your self up to doing it over and over again. Just like anything you do. It’s gets easier and you feel better. You have more energy for your day, family and happier. I make meals that fresh, tasty and balance. Here to say hi, and that I’m still alive ✌🏻💁🏼‍♀️💕 This week I’ve been feeling run down, like I’m getting sick, and have had no desire to be on social media much. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Still running and getting some miles in- 1 and a half more weeks until officially starting my half marathon training 🏃🏼‍♀️👟

I’m throwing it back to warm ☀️’y days & my favorite red swimsuit that decided 🇲🇽México was just too good to leave😁 #ISwearImWorseThanMyKids🤦🏽‍♀️

When I was a kid I always wore shorts over my swimsuit to cover my legs and butt. They were always bigger than the other girls my age and I was super self conscious about it🙈(STILL AM)
But over the years I’ve learned a few very important things that have helped me feel more confident in my own skin. .
.
1️⃣ If something as simple as a ❄️ is uniquely different from all other snowflakes, imagine then how we,(children of a loving Heavenly Father), are uniquely and profoundly different from one another🤗 We aren’t meant to “be like” anyone else. So I have tried really hard to remember that I am me #MessyJessi as my mom always said 🙃😝 I am not perfectly happy with my body......But I also know that the girl who I think has the perfect body probably isn’t perfectly happy with her body either. So I’m learning to love my body for all that it is, and learning to let go of the things that used to make me feel so self conscious. .
.
2️⃣It’s important to remember that everyone’s timeline looks different. I only really starting training seriously when my baby started school. I found my self feeling lost and the gym started out as therapy for me. I wish I had found my love for lifting sooner but guess what.....MY TIMELINE WAS DIFFERENT ☺️So don’t feel discouraged if you feel late to the game or that your progress is too slow🐢❌ If you are moving forward you’re already winning💯💯💯

3️⃣Did you know cellulite is actually just👼Angel kisses 😘
#OkImFullOf💩 But I have learned that cellulite is absolutely normal for 99.9999999% of women. It’s true I googled it🤓😉 So even tho I wish I had buttery smooth legs🦵🏽I’ve come to accept that I’m not weird #OkMaybeALittle🙃 but my angel kisses aren’t weird!!! It’s good to work towards goals. It’s good to want to improve our physiques. IMO tho we should still be able to love and appreciate ourselves, and all the flawsomeness that’s uniquely ours!!! So here’s to the ❄️’s out there. NEVER STOP BEING UNDENIABLY YOU!!!!

Let's talk about patience. (long read ahead)

• So I've learned over the years to not rush things, especially with fitness. I would say I really started taking my physical fitness seriously at the end of 2015. I wanted to get strong and I wanted to put on some mass. I also wanted to be lean. So guess what I did. . . I started Strong Lifts 5x5 AND a cut at the same time as a newbie lifter. In my opinion this was a pretty bad idea.

• For those of you that have never heard of Stronglifts it's a strength training program developed for newish lifters to build a foundation for their overall strength. You squat 3 times per week and alternate push and pull movements every other day. I think it's a great program for someone thats new to lifting and wants their bench, squat, and deadlift up. It worked pretty well for me! In the beginning anyway. . .

• The over all goal of this program is to add 5 to 10lbs every day following the successful completion of.your workout. I was able to maintain this and weight loss on poverty calories for a few months. After about month 3 my body started tanking HARD! My joints were killing me and my lower back was thrashed. Guess what? My dumbass kept going with no breaks. Not a single deload. That resulted in a lower back injured and very inflamed SI joints. It was so bad that I couldn't back squat or deadlift more than 225lbs without pain or muscle spasms.

• Fast forward to the beginning of 2018 and it all of the aches and pains in my back went away. I ended up setting myself up for failure from trying to rush the process. Now it's the end of 2019 and I can recognize when my body needs a break.

• I've been doing a program called "The Texas Method" for about 6 weeks. I will talk more about that in another post, but overall the results have been great! I've felt exhausted and achy all day today so guess what this time. . . I'm taking an active recovery day tomorrow. My body needs REST! You can only tear it down for so long! I'm going to complete this weeks cycle on Friday, rest this weekend, and assess how I feel next week. ▪︎
• Moral of the story, be patient and listen to your body!! It will tell you when it needs a break!!!

• Fast forward to the beginning of 2018 and it all of the aches and pains in my back went away. I ended up setting myself up for failure from trying to rush the process. Now it's the end of 2019 and I can recognize when my body needs a break.

• I've been doing a program called "The Texas Method" for about 6 weeks. I will talk more about that in another post, but overall the results have been great! I've felt exhausted and achy all day today so guess what this time. . . I'm taking an active recovery day tomorrow. My body needs REST! You can only tear it down for so long! I'm going to complete this weeks cycle on Friday, rest this weekend, and assess how I feel next week. ▪︎
• Moral of the story, be patient and listen to your body!! It will tell you when it needs a break!!!

#seatedpullups the cool part is you can use as much or little leg as you need to keep progressing your pull up strength. Try whichever hand position you’d like to work on.

#bandedbarbellhipthrusts 2 sets of 15 ☠️...I did 225 and had to take a second to breathe after 10reps but finished strong 💪. Make sure you push out against the band the whoooole time. Bench height to bottom of your shoulder blades. Ribs down, gaze forward, posterior pelvic tilt to full lockout. Knees should be around 90 degrees at the top of the thrust.

Another great competition in the books for Chloe!
On this day she finished 5th out of 21 girls in a competitive 72kg class.
She squatted 127.5kg, benched 60kg and deadlift a whopping 160kg 😱!

BACK ON MY DEADLIFT GRIND

Anyone who knows me knows that deadlifts are my shit and are the reason that I edged ahead of some competitors in my powerlfiting meet.
.
I'm really trying to push some big numbers next year and one of those is a 250kg deadlift, THE QUARTER TON. For the next few weeks ill be deadlifting once a week, working with 5 sets of 6 reps, adding 5kg every week until I feel I need to drop it back and change the rep scheme.
.
KEYS FOR DEADLIFT IMPORVEMENT
1. WARM UP! (Abductors, glutes, lats, abs)
Do as many warm up sets as it takes for the lift to feel right.
2. TRAIN SMART!
Don't hit a max rep set every session. Leave something in the tank. Strength training does not require training to failure
3. PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD!
Make sure you have room to constantly improve over time, don't jump to a max weight straight away, it doesn't happen overnight.
4. RECOVERY!
Deadlifts are very taxing on the body so make sure you eat well and get enough sleep

It’s okay to not go to the gym. It’s okay to take a break. NO ONE knows what YOUR body needs more than YOU. So don’t let anyone guilt you whether it’s into going to the gym on a day you’re not feeling it or going to the gym all the time. We have to do what makes US happy, not anyone else. —
So, if you want to relax, then do you, boo, and RELAX. If that turns into a two - three month hiatus, then 🤷🏼‍♀️. When you’re ready, go back and jump right back in. Tell anyone who has anything to say about it, “Mind ya business!”

Bulgarian split squats are one of my favorite exercises. You can do them almost anywhere, and slight changes can make a big difference! Torso angle and position of the elevated foot are two points I always like to bring up with clients. —————————————————————
1- Torso angle: a smaller step out and vertical torso will make it a more quad/knee dominant movement. A bigger step out with a forward lean of the torso makes it more glute/hip dominant. I prefer the latter, as I feel like it gives me more of that “jello legs” feel!

2- A lot of clients will say that they feel the quad of the elevated leg working harder than the leg on the floor. I’ve found that leaving the elevated foot plantar flexed and relaxed takes some tension out of the quad. You’re more likely to try and drive through that foot if it’s dorsiflexed with the toe down.

Transformations are as unique as the incredible people making them💯

There are no two paths that are exactly alike, so don’t compare your journey to someone else’s ❌

It’s good to feel inspired. It’s good to feel hope that a change is possible. It’s not ok however, to feel less because someone’s progress looks different from your own. .
.
My journey felt extremely slow🤪and as you might imagine there were many times I felt extremely frustrated😖
.
.
I could have easily looked around and felt less of myself because of others who just seemed to progress so much faster than me. Would that have helped me in any way??? ABSOLUTELY NOT🛑
.
.
So instead I put my focus on being consistent. I tried to make baby changes that would slowly (but surely) land me at my goal. .
.
It took me about 5 years to achieve what I wanted for myself. I trained 6 days a week faithfully for about 2 hours a day. After the weight loss I decided to have a mommy makeover and fix a few things that motherhood, and gravity 🤣🤣had left slightly lower than I had wanted 🤣🤣🤣
.
.
I’m telling you this because social media can be a wonderful platform, but for many it can also be a place of harsh comparisons and self hate. Don’t go there!! .
.
Instead I challenge you to think of 2 things, (I don’t care how small or insignificant they seem) that you can change or implement today💯 .
.
Have faith in the processs💯
Stay consistent💯
Eat smart💯
Train Hard💯
And always my friends #HappyLifting .

Someone told me I should post more workout videos to which I responded- I’d love to but I feel like every #fitspo posts their workouts basically everyday! #oversaturated a but much 🤷🏻‍♀️

I train like a #bodybuilder pushing around heavier weights and supersetting my exercises.
Rarely will you see me jumping around or doing banded only body weight workouts, I need more than that.

I usually always post on #workoutwednesday but I might start throwing in a second one on the weekends!

So here’s the breakdown 👇🏼
1️⃣ Incline dumbbell chest press- increase weight each set for 15-12-10-8-6 reps so 5 sets SS with bicep curls 10r.
.
2️⃣ Cable chest flies SS cable curls- 5 sets of 12 reps.
.
3️⃣ Skull crushers SS laying close grip chest press- 5 sets of 12 reps. I used the EZ bar for this one instead of dumbbells.
