🔥A calorie is not a calorie🔥
.
Yes, one calorie is a unit of energy and the physical definition of a calorie stands true across the board, but eating 300 calories of cake and 300 calories of a healthy snack are going to effect your body's composition and health very differently. For example, when we eat 300 calories from processed junk and sweets, that sugar is thrown into your bloodstream which can cause a massive insulin spike, a hormone needed to bring glucose into your cells for use. Your blood sugar levels drop relatively fast and you end up being quite hungry again in an hour or less which can lead to overeating throughout the day if this is repeated and could also eventually lead to insulin resistance. Furthermore, those processed foods are void of any nutritional value which means your cells do not get the nutrients they need to perform their functions and thus you feel lethargic and could develop nutrient deficiencies, both of which can effect your performance in the gym and throughout the day which has indirect impact on your body composition. On the other hand, opting for a healthier alternative like fruit and some healthy fats leads to a significantly more controlled and healthier glucose release into the bloodstream and insulin response which not only provides your body with the energy it needs in a very sustainable and prolonged way, but keeps you fuller for longer which can prevent overeating. Furthermore, by providing your body with the nutrients it needs, your energy levels will improve and your health will be optimized meaning less time getting over illness and more time progressively overloading during your workouts which means more time building muscle and getting lean. A calorie is not a calorie.

This shows the #legpress but in reality can be used on pretty much all leg exercises. Take a look at the picture and use it to your advantage if your having trouble developing one part of the leg over the other. .

For example, many athletes try very hard to achieve that teardrop muscle that lies on the inner thigh. For this, you would place the feet at a wider stance with the toes pointing slightly outward. .

Here are 6 examples of quick and efficient finishers that you can do in most gyms. If you need weights, you can use Dumbbells, Barbells or Kettlebells. If you don’t know what weight to use, choose something you’re comfortable doing 15-20 reps with great form 👌🏼

Deadlifts are one of the best posterior chain movements you can do. Single-leg deadlifts not only benefit the posterior chain, but also build unilateral strength and work the glutes, hamstrings, and the back. They also really challenge the core due to the unilateral nature of the movement. They can also be done with kettlebells or dumbbells which brings a level of versatility to the movement. They are not a movement to neglect even if the load is significantly less than conventional deadlifts. They can even help build your conventional deadlift strength and form. I like adding these in on pull days and I always recommend starting with higher reps (8-12) and work your way to heavier loads, lower reps (4-6).

A strong core is absolutely everything in my opinion. Way too often, people focus and prioritize on the wrong thing in the gym which is get strong and jacked as hell by lifting heavy loads and slamming the weights. Now that's great and I agree, lifting heavy is awesome, but the priority for all gym goers should be a strong core for both performance reasons and health reasons. So before you start lifting heavy, let's ensure you can do so safely and reap the benefits of the heavy loads. Here is why you need a strong core:
.
👉You can lift heavier: when you have sa strong core and your spinal column and body is stabilized, you reduce energy leaks in the kinetic chain meaning. This leads to stronger, more powerful contractions of the muscles required to lift the load and reduces compensation from other muscles, usually synergistic muscles.
👉Reduce the likelihood of injury: by ensuring your core is strong, your spine is going to be stabilized throughout everyday activities and through various exercises which reduces stress on the back as well as compensation from other muscles due to poor form which can lead to overuse injuries especially if the muscles that are compensating are not meant to handle heavy loads placed on them.
👉To have a healthy back: one of the biggest problems in our world is lower back injuries and while that is often caused by tight hip flexor a and poor posture, it is also caused by a weak abdominal wall and deep spinal stabilizers.

Don't neglect the core. My favourite core exercises are planks and deadbugs and then progressing to more advanced ones like hanging leg raises and wood choppers and cable crunches and ice cream makers.

Way too often, people focus and prioritize on the wrong thing in the gym which is get strong and jacked as hell by lifting heavy loads and slamming the weights. Now that's great and I agree, lifting heavy is awesome, but the priority for all gym goers should be a strong core for both performance reasons and health reasons. So before you start lifting heavy, let's ensure you can do so safely and reap the benefits of the heavy loads. Here is why you need a strong core:

👉You can lift heavier: when you have sa strong core and your spinal column and body is stabilized, you reduce energy leaks in the kinetic chain meaning. This leads to stronger, more powerful contractions of the muscles required to lift the load and reduces compensation from other muscles, usually synergistic muscles.
👉Reduce the likelihood of injury: by ensuring your core is strong, your spine is going to be stabilized throughout everyday activities and through various exercises which reduces stress on the back as well as compensation from other muscles due to poor form which can lead to overuse injuries especially if the muscles that are compensating are not meant to handle heavy loads placed on them.
👉To have a healthy back: one of the biggest problems in our world is lower back injuries and while that is often caused by tight hip flexor a and poor posture, it is also caused by a weak abdominal wall and deep spinal stabilizers.

Don't neglect the core. My favourite core exercises are planks and deadbugs and then progressing to more advanced ones like hanging leg raises and wood choppers and cable crunches and ice cream makers.

🔥 Should you train to failure 🔥

So, there is a misconception out there that you need to train to absolute failure each and every single set of each and every single exercise of each and every single workout. This, of course, is not necessarily true especially when the goal is to build muscle and strength. If the goal is endurance, maybe, but we want to stimulate protein synthesis as opposed to completely destroying a muscle expecting gains to be made. This means leaving a few reps in the tank majority of the time is ideal. With that being said, that doesn't mean we should never train to failure. It just means we don't have to train to failure all the time to make gains. There are benefits to both which means both have their place. Training to failure allows for more metabolic stress and time under tension which are both key components to hypertrophy where as leaving reps in the tank allows for more overall volume (arguably the most important driver of hypertrophy) and rep quality doesn't diminish throughout the set. I like to leave a few reps in the tank about 90% of the time and go to failure periodically to ensure I'm getting benefits of both styles of training.

Sitting hamstrings Release- In Paschimottanasana the seated forward bend we can use this variation with legs on a height of bricks to intensify the lengthening and release if tight hamstrings.
One could use a belt and keep the spine lengthened in case the hands cannot reach the toes.
Holding for 2 minutes with consistency in breathing can have tremendous benefits and make your legs feel nice and light.
