Contrary to popular belief, working out and eating healthy doesn’t have to be about losing weight & getting abs.
.
For too long, that’s what I was focused on!

I just wanted abs and triceps. I distinctly remember telling my trainer at the gym that exact thing when New Years rolled around. 🙈 And because I wasn’t reaching those goals, I kept giving up and overindulging in all the foods!
.
Until I decided to just focus on showing up... consistency was the answer. And it felt GOOD! I loved how strong I felt when I could lift heavier than the previous week! When I could do just one more push up!
.
That’s when I found RESULTS!
.
I noticed I felt like crap when I ate like crap, so I learned to fuel my body to keep me full (& not hangry) all day long! But I have yet to deprive myself ... because TACOS, CHOCOLATE, & WINE ARE LIFE!
.
It became more about looking in the mirror and feeling CONFIDENT AF and proud of my journey!
.
Yeh I’ve lost some pounds and inches along the way, all without giving up a single carb 🙌🏼
.
But this is just more about the life I’ve gained than the inches I’ve lost! Isn’t that more important than some quick fix that will leave you back where you started in a few weeks??

Physical activity vs. exercise: what’s the difference?

These are terms which I believe are often misinterpreted, but will often mean different things for different people. Physical activity refers to movement involving energy expenditure, which is basically any form of movement. Alternatively, exercise is planned, well structured movement working towards a specific goal. Generally exercise can be thought of as a sub category to physical activity. Exercise is more intentional in nature, physical activity on the other hand is generally incidental. An example is walking home from work vs. structured resistance training. Both involve energy output, however a resistance training plan primarily involves intentional movement.

The way I like to consider these terms evolves around exercise intent. Again using weight training as an example, each session will be geared towards a specific set of muscles or a certain set of movements (ie. push or pull). Generally the program will have set targets for both volume and intensity, whilst physical activity involves less thought and intent behind exercise choice.
.
Both these concepts have an important role in TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure). Increasing incidental physical activity is all about recognising opportunity for movement. Exercise on the other hand is more geared towards developing the components of physical fitness through scheduled  activity (flexibility, body composition, muscular strength, endurance and cardiorespiratory fitness). .
The key message here is that both are important for health and overall wellbeing. However, when it comes to developing physical fitness do you exercise with intent? Or do you only exercise when you feel like it? Generally a well structured training program can make all the difference

Throwback Thursday, First day of school edition! In the picture on the left I was down about 50 pounds. I was feeling on top of the world an oh so excited for what that next year would bring. When I first chatted with my coach, one of my main goals at the time was to be a better teacher. To be more mentally available. Technically by then I had already met that goal. Not gonna lie, I’ve got some big hairy audacious goals of my own that intimidate me. But I’ve already accomplished so much in these last few years, and there’s no stopping now! Throwback Thursday, First day of school edition! In the picture on the left I was down about 50 pounds. I was feeling on top of the world an oh so excited for what that next year would bring. LIFE UPDATE + DEALING WITH WEIGHT GAIN

hello everyone! i know i haven’t been very active on this account but it has been a very crazy past couple of weeks! if you don’t know, i’ll fill you in. I moved (all by myself) which was very stressful. Then I turned 21! It’s been a week now and I’m not gonna lie when I say I have been drinking mostly every day since my birthday. I have been home and have off from work for about 2 weeks so i’m trying to enjoy the rest of the summer all while prepping to go back to school, figuring out stupid grown up stuff like finances, school loans, classes, and just all of that annoying stuff that stresses us all out. .

As for weight gain, I have gained 10 pounds since June to be exact which is a lot to gain in 2 months. Like I said, i do mostly believe it was the food combining and my birth control. the funny thing is i’m actually handling it pretty well. I haven’t really struggled that much with any body dysmorphia lately and I’m looking at the positives, bigger boobs and a bigger butt!!!! hahahahah. I’m very proud of how i’ve handled it actually. i would obviously like to lose those extra lbs i put on, therefore i am ACTUALLY counting macros again! I haven’t counted macros in about 8 months and I feel like it really helps me get back on track on the grind. my workouts have been really slacking lately but I know that once i get back to school again i’ll get back to my normal routine. .

ALSO MY BOOTY WORKOUT IS GOING UP THIS WEEKEND SO WHOS EXCITED?!?! It is seriously my most requested video and I’m excited to finally give it to you all!!! .
