I’m happy with the progress I’ve made but I’m not there yet. ·

Last year I didn’t eat much (or nothing at all which wasn’t healthy), didn’t have a food schedule and went to the gym very often but without a training schedule. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Back then, when I saw this pic of myself, I wasn’t happy. 
As I said I went to the gym very often and lost a lot of fat but I was tired all the time and didn’t have no energy. My goal was to gains muscles and start eating healthy. 🤨
·
I’ve made the decision to ask for help (still really thankful for that @mikevandoorne ) as it was really hard for me to eat right. From that moment I started to follow a food schedule and learned myself to make training schedules. 🏋🏽‍♀️

This all worked out so well and I started to feel healthier and had so much energy. 🔥
·
Today I’m still following (my own) food and training schedules and I’m so happy with the gains I’ve already made. I’m not there yet as I gained a lot of muscle and also fat but last week I started to cut properly and it’s going really well! Can’t wait for the result 🙈 ·

So fam all I wanted to say I success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. 💪

When I’ve had an average day or an average workout I try to remember my small wins. It could be the tiniest thing: handling a work situation better, doing an extra rep, taking more time to stretch, listening to my body more; literally anything. If you can find a small win in an otherwise ‘average’ situation you’ve got a chance to turn your whole view of that situation around. Give yourself some credit. Find the good stuff. L3 and I tried to capture some images on our morning run to show some of the more interesting properties on the estate.

Realised today how tricky it is getting images of architecture in Lagos primarily because it's all hidden behind electric fences and barbed wire!
.
One also has to be careful as our society is not very accommodating of photography. Believe it or not I've been locked up in the past and have had numerous run ins with guards and officials at various local landmarks because I had a camera in my hand. I believe it stems from the scars of our history of military rule, but that's a massive conversation in itself.
.
Back to architecture... Local architecture generally falls into 2/3 camps.
.
☝🏾ornate and extravagant.
.
✌🏾modern and minimal.
.
🤟🏾functional.
.
As pretty much everyone builds their homes from scratch, local houses tend to be a direct reflection of the owner. Very little in the way of consistency or cohesion because, as is true of our society, everyone is trying to stand out from everyone else.

People are set in their ways.
Sometimes so much so that they refuse to believe the fact that there are “easier” or more sustainable ways to loose fat.

I was having a conversation with two of my colleagues this morning about gym and dieting etc. One of them then said “just cut out sugar and salt, then you’re on the right track. Also make sure you have at least one cheat day a week.” I then said I don’t cut out ANY foods, i eat what I feel like (mostly whole/nutritious foods) so that i don’t feel deprived or restricted.

His reply was “but then you won’t get quick results”

Thats the whole idea, NOT to get quick fixes, you want results that will last! You want to use a sustainable and maintainable approach.

You want to be able to change your lifestyle, not loose 5-8kg in a 8 week program and then gain double that back over half the time it took to loose. 
Consuming too many calories on a daily basis will cause fat gain.Not adding sugar or salt to your diet just means your missing out on the good flavor it can add to your meals, not that it will make you loose weight!!!! Sugar and salt aren’t “bad” for you, anything is good if you have it in moderation! Just start tracking your intake!

I woke up at 5am today. 🌞  I hit the gym for 2 1/2 hours HARD! Leg day is NOT a day I look forward too. I felt so great I wanted to push myself. 🤩 🏃🏼‍♀️🦵🏼 I started something new and was busy and on my feet from 1pm to 9:00pm. It’s now 10:30pm and I’m just winding down. 🤗 😴

My feet and legs should be killing me right now. But nope! I feel great! See that little black sticker thing on my foot? 🤔 It’s like magic! ✨😉 I’ll be back at it tomorrow morning for a busy day and I’ll be ready thanks to Thrive!
