DIET CULTURE: when you’re stuck in it, the world outside can feel SO scary & overwhelming.

Keto, F-Factor, paleo, plant-based, intermittent fasting - when used with the goal of weight loss, all of these systems are classified as nothing more than DIETS. (*note: we’re not referring to food choices for religious, ethical or health purposes - we’re talking weight loss specific*). These diets allow people to feel the sensation of a food “safety bubble” … a bubble made up of reduced food choices, making the dieter feel safe as long as they stay within the dieting paremeters. Sounds like a good solution, right? WRONG.

Simply put: these diets are not sustainable. They transfer trust from our bodies (which btw, are really freaking smart) and place it in the hands of a diet. They’re likely to make you food-obsessed and limit your social life and overall happiness, because who can truly enjoy life when they’re a slave to the confined rules of the diet.

Bringing “safe” foods with you everywhere *cough, special fiber crackers* isn’t a way to live. And don’t get us wrong - we’ve fallen victim to this mindset in the past. But having been there, we know it takes serious work to reverse this vicious cycle.

ENTER INTUITIVE EATING: a rule-free way of eating, with the goal of listening to & trusting in your body. And no, it doesn’t mean you’ll end up eating sweets all day because that’s what you’re craving (although that is a common question we see) … It truly means learning your bodies cues and responding to them accordingly - free of self judgement.

We recently sat down with one of our favorite intuitive dietitians, @dietitian.rachelgoodman to discuss all things intuitive eating & give you guys answers to the top questions we’ve received around it. From what will happen when you start to listen to your body, to carbs and calories, food guilt, what dieting really means and so much more! We’re really excited to share this one with you guys - and it’s ON THE BLOG NOW.

my body is 900000% butternut squash at this point in the season, so naturally i’m going to share yet another recipe starring the culprit 🙂 inhaling a huuuuuuge bowl of chili before night class tonight. hope y’all are staying warm and well fed today xx dropping a favorite chili recipe below similar to the bowl pictured! ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
butternut squash and white bean chili

1 can butternut squash puree
1 can rinsed and drained white beans
1 onion
1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
1 zucchini
Olive oil
Cumin
Sea salt
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 cups vegetable broth
1 can tomato puree
1 can full of filtered water

sauté the onion in olive oil, cumin, and sea salt until fragrant and browned. toss in diced zucchini and mushrooms and cook until tender. add white beans, tomato puree, butternut squash puree, vegetable broth, and water to the pot. turn heat to high and cook until boiling, then reduce to low heat and partially cover with a lid. now you’re cooking the sauce down until the liquid is absorbed and a thick mixture forms (I stir every 10 minutes for about 40 minutes). at the very end i added the maple syrup. once the liquid is mostly absorbed it’s done!

Tacos:
Grain-free @sietefoods taco shells stuffed with @butcher_box grass-fed ground beef made with @primalpalate taco seasoning, @chosenfoods avocado oil, @saucylipsfoods ghost pepper sauce then topped off with cilantro, avocado, tomato + radish

A quick and simple dinner this eve! My fave butternut squash slices were in the reduced section so ofc I nabbed them and paired them with essentially whatever I already had in the fridge/freezer - and this beauty was born 😅

▫️ Roasted butternut squash slices baked & grilled with lotsa Nando’s peri peri salt (from Musclefood - check bio!)
▫️ Steamed broccs🥦
▫️ Garlic mushroomsss & onion

El dia de hoy vamos a hacer unos pancakes keto de chocolate. Esta receta es espectacular y es simplemente una variación de los famosos egg fast pancakes. Esta porción es generosa y es lo que yo me como normalmente para romper el ayuno. Si ustedes no suelen hacer comidas tan grandes o calóricas simplemente hagan la mitad de la receta.
Ingredientes
4 huevos
4oz queso crema
2 tbsp harina de coco
1 tbsp cocoa en polvo
5-10 gotas stevia liquida
Macros
Fat 60g
Protein 34g
Net Carbs 6g
Calorias 740
