  • Because it's National Afternoon Tea Week in the UK, today's #englishwithmya video is all about SCONES and tea 🍰🍡 🌟 SCONES are traditional British small cakes served at tea time. They can be savoury (salty) or sweet - sweet SCONES are served with cream and jam, just like @missmarieecatherinee and I had at @roomwithroses_, a lovely tea room located inside the historic @brisbanearcade. We sampled Room with Roses' signature raspberry and ginger SCONES - both super delicious! 🌟 Have you tried SCONES? How do you enjoy yours? 🌟 @discoverbrisbane @thebrisbanelifestyle @whereto_bris @brisbanecity @brisbaneexperience 🌟 Song @iksonofficial

Exploring @woodlands_of_marburg, a historic estate open to the public as part of the @greathousesofipswich_official event (songs: Your Ghostliness and Humanised by @taliesinward )
πŸ–€
This past weekend came to Queensland bearing gifts of raging bushfires and dust storms that filled the air with smoke and enshrouded the world in yellow dust. The drought that has been reigning inland as of late had already scorched the grass as far as the eye can see; the clouds of dust and smoke somehow seemed natural, another jewel in the crown of this wild, rugged landscape. On this, the ghostliest day I have ever seen, wandering the old mansion marvelling at its rich wooden panelling and decor, dark corridors, stunningly ornate fireplaces, and tables fully set in period fashion, awaiting no guests, felt just like walking through a Victorian ghost story πŸ–€
Woodlands of Marburg is a heritage-listed mansion in Marburg, Ipswich, Queensland. It was designed by the Ipswich-based architect George Brockwell Gill, and built between 1889 and 1940. The original building was constructed to serve as home to the family of Thomas Lorimer Smith, rich merchant and active member of the Marburg community. The family owned the estate until 1944, after which it reopened as St Vincent's Seminary in 1945. In 1986 the property was sold to the Ipswich Grammar School; today, it belongs to a local family, who operate it as a function centre and boutique holiday accommodation (info via Queensland Heritage Register).
πŸ–€
The stunning house is surrounded by verandahs offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and vineyards; it has an observation deck and tower, a stunning cellar underneath the mansion, and the estate comprises an art school, a chapel, an outdoor wedding area, a grotto, the Tommy Smith Cafe, and a cemetery.
