  • Tsaritsyno, Moskva, Russia
  • If you find yourself with some extra time in Moscow, a short metro ride to the southern end of the city will bring you to the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve 🤩 It’s a massive park with lots to see, including this enormous palace which was commissioned by Catherine the Great in the late 18th century. Sadly, it was left unfinished after her death and remained that way for two centuries. Now, for a small fee, you can explore the interior of the palace, but if you just want to walk around the park it’s completely free! We happened to visit during a torrential downpour, but I managed to get a quick photo before it started raining again 🤦🏼‍♀️👹 Anyone visited before?! 🇷🇺

Suomenlinna

A quick ferry ride from market square in Helsinki gets you to the incredible Suomenlinna sea fortress 😍 Built in the 18th century when Finland was still part of Sweden, it’s now a @unesco world heritage site and is a cultural treasure. It’s free to explore, all you need to do is pay for the ferry and any museums on the island you want to visit. If you have the city’s transportation card, the ferry is included in that! Also, the views of Helsinki are something else, even on a rainy day 🤩 We visited here after a stop at @bun2bunburgers for some delicious vegan burgers, our first time trying them 🍔Anyone visited the fortress before? 🏰🇫🇮

Fisken på disken

Another great food stop in Helsinki is @fiskendisken 🤩 Which in English translates to “the fish is on the table” 😏 It’s a very modern seafood restaurant, with a couple of not so fishy options on the menu too, and is right in the heart of the city 🐟 I opted for the fish and chips for my main which was delicious, and the vinegar comes in a little spray bottle 😵🤤 I’d recommend tasting their liquorice pannacotta for dessert which has a unique taste! They also serve lunch so there’s no excuse not to visit! 😉🍽🇫🇮

Cafe Regatta (official)

Have you ever seen such a picture perfect cafe? 🤩 Stopping at @caferegatta is a must if you’re visiting Helsinki. The building was originally built as a shed for fishnets in the late 1800s, but has now been transformed into this popular cafe. They’re famous for their fresh cinnamon buns and blueberry pie, and you can sit outside around a fire even when it’s a bit cold out 😉 It’s located very close to the Sibelius Monument, another popular attraction in the city. Has anyone stopped here for a warm drink before? 🥰☕️🥧🇫🇮

Gohan Wine Bar

Looking for something unique to do in Helsinki? Check out @happyguidehelsinki 😃 We went on the design tour which I’d highly recommend. The guide takes you to various designer’s stores and gives a history into Finnish design in Finland and abroad 🤩 Near the design district is @fatramen which is a great stop for lunch, especially if you love noodles 🤤 There’s a great little restaurant right next to the main cathedral as well, @gohanwinebar, who use only local and fresh ingredients to make some incredible dishes. You can also sample some wine too with each course 😏 Hands up if you’re hungry for Helsinki! 🙋🏼‍♀️🇫🇮

Puu-Vallila

There are lots of beautiful areas to explore in Helsinki, most of which are reachable by hopping on a tram. Puu-Vallila was one of my favourite areas, which is famous for its historic wooden houses 😀 If you’re looking for somewhere to eat, @tenhorestobar is only a short walk from this area, and has live music every evening! What’s your favourite area in Helsinki? 🇫🇮

Ravintola Merimakasiini

You can’t pass up an opportunity to try seafood in Helsinki 🐟 Even if you aren’t a seafood lover, I promise you’ll find something to tickle your tastebuds 😉 @merimakasiini is the most famous seafood restaurant in the city, and has an amazing selection on their menu, as well as beautiful harbour views 😍 They use only fresh ingredients, and the mixture of flavours on your plate is incredible 🤤 There are non-seafood options to choose from as well, and a lighter lunch option! Who wants to visit?! 😃🇫🇮

Pizzala

After a late night check-in at @hiisihomes in Helsinki, we started our morning (and spent most of the day) at @teurastamo 🤩 The early 20th century buildings in this area have been converted into businesses, restaurants, and bars, which give it a really unique and relaxed vibe 🥰 Obviously, a pizza stop is a must, and at @pizzalahelsinki they make traditional Neapolitan pizzas with an authentic wood burning oven 🍕 This one is my own creation and it doesn’t look too bad! 😅 @helsinginkahvipaahtimo is the perfect stop for coffee and a light bite to eat, and its roastery is right on site too. The Natural Drinks Factory uses fresh ingredients to create a variety of sodas, which I’d recommend testing out! For lunch, @kellohalli offers a great selection that you can help yourself to and is situated in a large, open hall. If you’re looking for some drinks, check out @helsinkidistilling which has won numerous awards and has a great cocktail selection 🍹 Finally, if you want a real Finnish experience, stop by the sauna in this area. It’s an amazing experience and very conveniently located too. Who’s stopping by here on their next trip to Helsinki?! 😍😃🙋🏼‍♀️🇫🇮

Danish King's Garden

Uh, hello up there 😅👀 If you’re heading to Tallinn’s bastion tunnels and old town walls, you’ll pass through the Danish King’s Garden. It’s also just down the slope from Toompea and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, so you can see quite a few attractions all in one go. Legend has it that a flag fell from the sky and landed in this spot during the Danish invasion which turned the tide of the battle 🤨 There are also some monks residing here 👀 which are a little creepy, but add something extra to the gardens. The views from this spot of the city below are fantastic too! Who’s snapped a photo with the monks before?! 😂🙋🏼‍♀️🇪🇪

St Catherine 's Passage Katariina Kaik

St Catherine’s passage, formally the Monk’s Alley, was one of my favourite streets in the city 😍 It’s lined with late medieval residences and workshops, that still create their goods in the traditional way. You can even watch the craftspeople at work 🤩 It’s tucked away off one of the main streets so keep your eyes peeled for the gateway! It’s one of the most beautiful spots in Tallinn, so it’s very crowded. I’d recommend going at sunrise or closer to sunset for your photos 📸 What’s your favourite medieval street in Europe? 😁🇪🇪

Sunrise at the Viru Gate 🤩 This 14th century barbican formed part of the city’s defence system, and is still an impressive structure to walk through. There are many parts of the town walls that you can walk along too for a small entry fee, which I’d recommend trying out! The gate is also very close to some unique bars and restaurants 😍 Hands up if you want to visit! 🙋🏼‍♀️🇪🇪

Tallinna Raekoda

Tallinn’s Town Hall Square has been the centre of the old town since the middle ages, and it’s frequently filled with market stalls selling pretty much everything 😍 There are lots of places to eat in this area, but I’d recommend stopping at Ill Draakon, a small medieval themed tavern with simple food from the past and a landlady to whip you into shape if you don’t order fast enough 😅 There’s also a garlic restaurant where you can sample garlic ice cream 🤷🏼‍♀️🍦 For a small fee you can climb to the top of the town hall’s tower for some incredible views as well! The square is mobbed during the day, so we woke up at sunrise for this shot, and it was definitely worth it! What’s your favourite medieval square in Europe? 🤩🇪🇪

Patkuli Viewing Platform

NEW BLOG POST! 📝 Click the link in my bio to read “Explore the Medieval World of Tallinn” 🤩🇪🇪 It covers where to stay, what to eat and most importantly what to do in this incredible city! There are a couple of added tips too😏 For those of you wondering, this is one of the many viewing platforms in the old town, but in my opinion it’s the best! From here you get a glimpse of the famous rooftops, as well as a view of the sea, which is especially beautiful at sunset and the best time to get a photo! It’s a little tricky to find, so make sure you have a map 😂 The ledge is also wide enough for you to walk along, so don’t be scared to hop over the railing 😅👊🏼 Who’s been here before?! 🥰

Tallinn City Hall

Jump if you’re excited for Autumn (even though it’s a few weeks away) 🙊😂 If you’re a summer person, I’ve still got some photos from Tallinn to share from my trip! This unique complex is known as Tallinn City Hall, and was used as a cultural venue for the city. Its design is a mixture of the bastions found in the old town and the ancient Mayan pyramids 🤩 It sits along the waterfront, so if you climb to the top you get some amazing views! Best of all it’s completely free and always open to explore! What’s your favourite part of Tallinn? 🤨🇪🇪

Kadriorg Palace was one of my favourite spots during our visit to Talllinn 🤩 It’s a little outside of the old town, but it’s surrounded by beautiful parks so the walk isn’t too bad! Or you can hop in an Uber which is very cheap. It was originally an imperial summer residence, built by Peter the Great for his wife, Catherine I 😯 There’s a small entry fee to go inside which is well worth it. The colourful gardens are free to walk around, and you get some great views of the palace from the outside too 😍 Who’s visited here before? 😃🙋🏼‍♀️🇪🇪

NEW BLOG POST! 📝 I was saving one of St Petersburg’s most famous landmarks for last 🤩 The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the most breathtaking churches, and buildings, I’ve ever seen.
