I had a bit of fun in front of the camera with @stevie_mac1999 giving back to the amazing @petermaccancercentre that was my saving grace 💜
The team grilled us with some great questions and I may have shed a tear of gratitude on camera 🎥

A massive thanks to the The University of Melbourne Vietnamese Student Association for coming in to our Wellbeing Centre to show patients and carers how to make dumplings as part of our Mid-Autumn Festival.
The festival is celebrated mainly in China and Vietnam and recognises the movement of the moon has a close relationship with changes of the seasons and agricultural production.
The dumplings were delicious!

It's Dietitian's Day - a day for us to celebrate our hard working nutrition team who help our patients every day.
Good nutrition is very important for all patients with cancer and the team assess and manage the nutritional needs of our patients before, during, and after they have completed treatment for cancer.
They provide individualised nutrition advice to help manage treatment side effects that impact on patients' ability to eat, improve your quality of life and optimise their ability to cope with treatment.

Well. Not exactly the results I was looking for today with my paraproteins being up 😡. Everything else was back within range including kidneys & liver 👏 post SCT #2. -
The advice given is to not look at results in isolation but look at treatment(s) as a whole and how far I’ve come. True that. I also have so much faith in the medical advances that I’ve only just scraped the surface in 9 months of treatment available. It is certainly a different story of fellow Warriors 5-10 years ago where Myeloma really was a death sentence for many. -
So my fellow Cancer Warriors, keep fighting the fight because the reward of staying alive is truly with it. -
I am grateful for waking up in the morning and having choices. In two weeks I begin a maintenance drug and another road will be travelled.
We’ve got this!!

It’s a beautiful day to be alive. Being fortunate enough to work at The Royal Melbourne Hospital for a month this year opened my eyes to clinical practice at its finest; allowing me to identify key attributes that I hope to employ in my future practice...Although it’s easy to be wowed by this hospital’s impressive architecture and bustling boujis cafe - what has impressed me the most is the fantastic morale that permeates it, coupled with the practice and constant reminder that the patient is at the epicentre of everything the medical staff do.
The working conditions here are the best that I’ve seen and I’m sure that has led to “happier doctors” and therefore “happier patients” but that doesn’t deter from the genuine dedication, hard work, understanding and respect that the staff in this hospital show to their patients and to each other. Hierarchy doesn’t exist within teams here, instead it’s replaced by a mutual respect for every members’ role and competence. Additionally I’ve seen accountability deter the ominous “blame culture” as medical staff here don’t work in fear of persecution but in recognition that there’s no “I” in “team”. There is an appreciation that yes - mistakes DO happen, we are all fallible and that’s OK - but the most important thing is to work alongside patients and your colleagues to identify why a mistake has happened and to use it as an opportunity to improve standards of practice.
It’s been an eye-opening experience, but what I’ve realised is that irrespective of where you work, at the heart of it is the patient. I believe if one approaches them by listening and thinking - if this was my family member- how would I want them to be treated? Then you can’t go too far wrong? #medicine #melbourne #nhs #health
We are so lucky to have a world class cancer centre as part of our public health system. Cutting edge treatments, research and architecture. #petermaccallumcancercentre
Tomorrow is the day where it starts all over again. They say 3 times a charm and I am banking on that saying to be true. I begin chemo, fingers crossed, for the last time tomorrow and with a little bit of hope my dream of living my own life, not cancers, will come true.
Melbourne is my new home for the next few months as it has come to the point in my journey where my body is in need of help. Help so I can finally take that exhaling breath that releases me from this anxiety bubble I sit within. Help so my body can finally heal and my scars can fade away. Help so I can live the life I planned. This help is called CAR-T cell therapy and with it I hope to fck cancers plan up a little (or a lot).
This is Finnian and Lauren. They’ve been battling blood cancer, Lauren since she was just 7 years old. Thanks to a cutting-edge treatment from overseas, they’ve both now been cured. Today our Government announced we’re funding that treatment in Australia, for all Australians who need it.
Paid a visit to the Youth Cancer Centre today at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Hospital in Melbourne. This unique and nurturing space for young adults faced with cancer has been made possible by the @sonyfoundation ✌🏼I look forward to performing on Thursday for the foundation on the riverside at @crownresorts 🎼🎤Crown is also a great supporter of the foundation. #youcan
United for something bigger than football. We’re proud to face Collingwood on Sunday for the 26th annual Peter Mac Cup. Head to petermac.org or look out for tin rattlers at the game to donate to life-saving cancer research. #BoundByBlue
